It’s a crime when anyone is executed . Murder is murder . We all know that hitting a child doesn’t teach them not to hit or stealing doesn’t teach them not to steal yet American still insists on murder to punish murder . Makes total sense .
As a police officer I was firmly in support of capital punishment. Then I learned of a number of people who were later found to have not been guilty of the crimes which they were convicted. You cannot un-ring that bell. For that reason, I would abolish thee death penalty and replace it with a life sentence.
Peter Palmer first of all thanks for your service. Second I'm against it too. The family of the one to die by the state loses a family member too. No one seems to understand that. Hope it is eliminated for the sake of the felons family. The suffer too.
I've never been able to reconcile myself to capital punishment. I live in the UK and am glad that we no longer have this form of punishment. I agree that the risk of executing an innocent person is too high a price to pay. Even in the case of someone who is guilty beyond doubt, the death penalty is barbaric and inhumane. State sanctioned murder is murder nonetheless.
The death penalty is wrong. It serves no purpose. I do not believe that the family on the victims side go on to feel long term justice. A person has to forgive another in order to move on in life. Execution takes that opportunity away from the victims and the condemned. There is not further time for that family to work through their feelings - hatred of another is poison and is self destructive. I can say that as a Christian and as a person who worked in mental health for 20 odd years. I met, worked with, made decisions for patients. The people on Section on a Secure are assessed as 'mad or bad'. I would say the majority never really stood a chance from birth. Others committed acts on spur of the moment. Yes there were some that were through and through psychopaths. Mostly it was mental health issues. It is all sad. The death penalty should be stopped. If i remember correctly in England you can be sentenced to death for Treason now - that I find bizarre to say the very least.
Murder never solves anything. State sanctioned murder is an act of vengeance, not public safety. Locking the inmate in prison forever leaves a chance of rehabilitation, killing them removes all possibility.
When I was serving my 14+ years in Prison, I was the firsthand eyewitness of two different murders that were committed by dudes who had already been spared the death penalty the 1st time they committed 1st degree murder. Both of these cats got another life sentence on top of the time they were already doing, as in, they got NO ADDITIONAL penalties at all other than the reiteration of the life sentences they were already serving. If they’d been properly executed in the first place, two relatively innocent men would still be alive, and two guilty men would now be dead, instead of vice versa...
If we remove the Death Penalty then Life WITHOUT any POSSIBILITY of PAROLE EVER must take its place. If under the law, a jury of one’s peers has found the accused guilty of felony murder, then one has forfeited their right to live in society. Society is not SAFE to have that individual living freely amongst them. Thus “REHABILITATION” as a “legal” question has no place in this consideration. Morally speaking if the murder redeems him/herself during what is left of their lifetimes , well that is between them and God.
I was for death penelty. Then i learned our cj system does not get it right everytime and there are innocent people on death row and currently locked up on lesser sentences
The quote starting at 5:35 is from the January, 2004 execution of Billy Frank Vickers in Texas. Vickers tried to exonerate two accomplices to his crime, an inmate imprisoned for a separate killing and even Texas millionaire Cullen Davis, who was tried for the murder of his wife and acquitted in a notorious 1970s case. Vickers said he or someone else committed the crimes for which they were accused or convicted. "Yes. I would just like to say to my family that I am sorry for all the grief I have caused. I love you all. Tell Mama and the kids I love you; I love all of you. And I would like to clear some things up if I could. Tommy Perkins, the man that got a capital life sentence for murdering Kinslow -- he did not do it. I did it. He would not even have had anything to do with it if he had known I was going to shoot the man. He would not have gone with me if he had known. I was paid to shoot the man. And Martin, the younger boy, did not know what it was about. He thought it was just a robbery. I am sorry for that. It was nothing personal. I was trying to make a living. A boy on Eastham doing a life sentence for killing Jamie Kent - I did not do it, but I was with his daddy when it was done. I was there with him and down through the years there were several more that I had done or had a part of. And I am sorry and I am not sure how many - there must be a dozen or 14 I believe all total. One I would like to clear up is Cullen Davis - where he was charged with shooting his wife. And all of these it was never nothing personal. It was just something I did to make a living. I am sorry for all the grief I have caused. I love you all. That is all I have to say."
Hate to break it to the creators of this movie but, the reality is allot less dramatic then this show portrays it. I used to work at Indiana State pen and I have seen over a dozen executions first hand. The offender being executed is accepting of his fate and is usually very calm and is not bothered by what is happening. They have been preparing for it for 10-20 years, as executions take that long to actually happen. They speak with shrinks, they talk with doctors, they talk with priest and they evetually come to terms with their fate. 99% of the time the offenders last words are that they love their parents or that they wish they can go back and not do what they did and that they are sorry, they don't give big dramatic speeches about "rights", they don't laugh and gigle like psychopaths, they just don't act like that.
Boston Towny4life I’m the filmmaker and that’s really interesting, maybe that was your experience, but these were all true speeches taken from the Texas Department of Justice website that posts written transcripts of all their executions ever performed. So just because you didn’t witness any last words like these, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I love your film, but one question. You said that all of these last words where real. Just out of curiosity, can you please give the list of all the people that where saying these things before they where executed?
This happened to 14 year old George in 1942 he live 1922 to 1942 he didn’t to anything but he was black so they thought he did it and was sreaming I didn’t do it he cryed and they pit him to death 😥
I really believe in the death penalty only if there’s concrete evidence, like a video of you actually doing the thing or heavy heavy solid evidence super SOLID
Too many people are sentenced to death; You cover it publicly; This is a gross violation of human rights. This is torture. If you kill a person, you have to do it quickly. As soon as you enter the room, you should kill him immediately, you should not burn him. This is torture and it is an insult to dignity and you have no right to be a magician. Do you know what this behavior is? If in the 70s of the 20th century you violated the rights of black people in America and could not understand anything, you are also committing a crime of the same gravity today and you do not realize it.
I believe in the death penalty if the person has been proven to be guilty of the crime they committed. I do believe that the death penalty, should only be given in certain circumstances though.
It’s sad none deserves so die not even if someone was killed no one disertes to die seeing my own race Mexican just inlightens an anger in me what if he was innocent and didn’t do nothing oh man the anger builds up and up and up and I feel boiling up in me but it’s sad
So they are "nothing" to you, even if innocent of any crime and executed in a horribly painful manner as you wish it would be? You sound like a nice chap.
It is a crime when an innocent person is executed.
Lawrence Kahn It’s also a crime when an innocent victim dies. Many executions, the criminal admits what they did to their victims too.
Amy Thomas So someone has to die??
It’s a crime when anyone is executed . Murder is murder . We all know that hitting a child doesn’t teach them not to hit or stealing doesn’t teach them not to steal yet American still insists on murder to punish murder . Makes total sense .
It's Homicide
Yes it is

Peter Palmer my country stopped death penalty and now it's life sentence

Why not give lifers the option?

Tony Blair (ex-PM) of UK abolished capital punishment for high treason in 1998/1999.

Yes but some criminals don’t deserve the chance of rehabilitation, when they are too far gone as long with awful crimes death is what they deserve
@@jody7104 I agree there are some crimes so heinous and insane, the perpetrator forfeits their right to live. Yep there are those cases too.
The criminal should have thought of that

Only poor people have this punishment !!! Political and rich 🤑 they don’t go to jail…
This is ridiculous law…. Unfair 🥺
It’s a crime when someone kills thy shall not kill only God can take life not man
I was for death penelty. Then i learned our cj system does not get it right everytime and there are innocent people on death row and currently locked up on lesser sentences

VERY powerful. FUCK The Death Penalty. It is inherently WRONG and should be STOPPED. Peace !! Rx
Is 11:48 based in Jermarr Arnold #987? If so, it's very different from his statement.

Cody Packer I liked your film.... i have a question for you?
Go for it.
Cody Packer I dig your film.... If you remake it, can you put where the guards are escorting them to the execution chamber?
Texas also has had a significantly higher number of executions than Indiana so many more last statements have occurred.
Actors?
The 2nd person, damn I kinda felt him
Why do they kill innocents or what if they did this is scary. I’m scared now.
Also this shouldn’t be happening just put them in jail forever I thought only God can take life
I love your film, but one question.
You said that all of these last words where real. Just out of curiosity, can you please give the list of all the people that where saying these things before they where executed?
+Cringy Alien Guy See my comments above which answer your question.
They are on the Texas Department of Justice website. www.tdcj.state.tx.us/death_row/dr_executed_offenders.html
@@CodyMathiesonPacker I still can't get it
What's the names of the actual people?
This is a very good and interesting video gives us an insight into what happens thank you
Is that a movie??
Is this the actual Texas death chamber with the gurney removed?
The acting is amazing!
8:13 That is probably what I would have said if I were in that situation.
Wow. That was kind of hard to watch. Exspecially the last lady.
This happened to 14 year old George in 1942 he live 1922 to 1942 he didn’t to anything but he was black so they thought he did it and was sreaming I didn’t do it he cryed and they pit him to death 😥
I'm against the death penalty, but get a grip, you've had 10 to 20 years to come to terms with it, don't blubber and carry on.
How phony could it be before The Condemned makes the last statement the tubes already inserted into his arm

I am in favour for capital punishment but only for the bankers media and government .
The only trouble is they must make sure they are guilty
This would be pretty cool maybe if you could hear it
Yes make sure you got the right murderer but in the U.K. it is not life
The end baby!!!! Yes.
The Death penalty is just wrong. We are meant to be better than that, Justice is better than that.
beautiful film it brought me to tears
Only God have to take the life for tha killer but tha Superior Law have to doing Punish that Criminal Guys.
I really believe in the death penalty only if there’s concrete evidence, like a video of you actually doing the thing or heavy heavy solid evidence super SOLID

This is not real. Of course. Real life executions are not so dramatic
Youve seen every execution?
Nadira Ruiz prior to being sentenced to death, they prepare for it so they are calm
This is nothing like what actually happens. What a waste of my time.

I just hate the fact that the laws make the executions as quick and painless as possible. It should be a lengthy painful process.
bama Fan except when an innocent person dies.
+Chris DiDonna That's the luck of the draw. Collateral damage.
And you would call yourself a civilised person?
Davide Mazzetti I dont care. They are nothing to me.
So they are "nothing" to you, even if innocent of any crime and executed in a horribly painful manner as you wish it would be? You sound like a nice chap.
So these are just actors, not the actual inmates? We need the death penalty back in Canada!!
Cody fudge packer.
I believe you need to retitle your film to ”Pushing the Anti-Death Penalty Agenda.”
I believe that would be more accurate.
Good!
