This is my favorite episode. Why did I cry when her people from Sky World came to help. This was definitely a What if episode. Imagine the Natives having powers to stop the genocide of their people.

You don’t know Native American history do you
If the Mohawk had been given super powers
They in fact would have killed and slaughtered a lot of people
Literally when they got guns; they almost wiped out the Algonquin

As a Native American (Ojibwe Tribe) seeing an Indigenous superhero honestly meant the world to me. I am 18 and honestly saw no good Native representation up until these past 2 years, although there is a lot more representation that needs to be shown it’s an amazing step with What if and Echo! I love that Indigenous people were able to have their input on this and that Native VAs were casted, even if it’s the bare minimum it makes me feel so proud! Thank you for the reaction ❤️

I was actually brought to tears at this episode, because to often in tv and especially in movies do we see Native Americans portrayed only as victims who were robbed of everything, but in this world, they stood up and succeeded in defending their home. And it was thanks to a young Mohawk woman named Kahhori.
This has been my most anticipated anticipated episode of What If for the past year, and far exceeded my high expectations. I would absolutely love to see more of Kahhori. In comics, tv, and especially in movies.
*GIVE US MORE OF THIS WORLD, AND OF KAHHORI!*

Also map innacruate like… what the shot why are the Mohawk at the shore

The voice actress who plays Kahorri, Devery Jacobs, plays another new MCU character named Bonnie in Marvel Studios’ Echo, which is out on Disney+ next Tuesday night at 9PM EST/6PM PST on Disney+.

    • @AndrewMcColl
      @AndrewMcColl 9 месяцев назад +5

She's also confirmed there's no connection between the two characters. She had already recorded her voice work for What If when she auditioned for Echo.
However, she has also said she'd love to see Kahhori brought into the live action productions.

If the subtitles aren't your thing (no judgement) then there is a full English version of the episode in the show's Extras tab.
Either way, this was a fantastic episode. I love that they worked with tribal members (both behind the scenes and for the supporting cast) to make sure they handled things correctly. A lot of the music was from a Mohawk musician as well. The story did feel a little rushed, but that's just how What If stories are due to the time constraints.
I'm hoping we get to see Kahhori again outside of this series, including in the comics.

    1. Kahori's Tribe vs Spanish Conquest

It was a fine episode but it did feel a bit out of place, it's only a 9 episode season after all. Marvel still knows how to write a good origin story, but a real connection to the MCU would have been nice. That's the main draw of the series after all.

I love the episode, but please be aware that it is not very accurate to talk about the Mohawk tribe meeting Spaniards. There were many other tribes in the South that did actually met with them. I found the choice to be a little odd, if anyone else knows better I would be happy to be corrected... All that said of course the MCU shouldn't be the place for historic accuracy, specially in a what if series.

The Spaniards were looking for the Fountain of Youth. The Fountain of Youth is strongly associated with the Spanish conquest. Since the tesseract lake does act as a fountain of youth, this is where the Spanish came. It makes a lot of sense in the context of an alternate history where the tesseract landed in Mohawk land.

I don't mind a female character to be so powerful, but give me a good believable reason on why she got so powerful, not just because. As a new character, this should've worked better as a movie, with plenty of time to show us why whe cares about her people, and how she mastered the new power. This felt like a test from Marvel/Disney, on a new character, after all the fails they've had on the past 2 years.

Um - the Tessaract? She was full of space stone energy, like everyone else in the sky world, and in case you missed it we even got the training montage as she mastered her powers, and then saw her practice on the Spaniards who breached the portal. And it's not like they didn't make it obvious why she cared about her people - it is SUPPOSED to be the default for a human being after all, and for those who couldn't read the subtext we were shown the relationship with her little brother. What episode did YOU watch?

    • @Starsaber222
