This was great. The eflect and Umbrellas are accessories I’m interested in playing with. Thank you for taking the time to share.

I use my old Wescott stills umbrellas and reflectors all the time for fast and dirty shoots.

Great video, many thanks. I love my large silver mirror 18 inch Eflect but for me what I want to do, its just not big enough. I have gone old school, back to making DIY reflectors. I never stopped using umbrellas. You can not beat them for speed and ease of use. These days I especially like to use small ones and put that through light diffusion on a t-pole. The small umbrella size allows you to change the height, tilt, direction a bit, much more than a big one in a small space. I do have the Paul C Buff big silver as well but find I use the small ones the most. I bought a Smallrig 450b in part because it has an umbrella mount built in (plus the deal price, break down size for travel and the Gallium extra power output). For me my new favourite find is the Matthews Microclip Clip with 1/4" Thread. Its meant for tabletop but I will use to hold very lightweight small reflectors.

@@GaffersSalon its old but was new to me. I needed something super light weight. Dedo has changed to using cold shoe mounts on the super light weight reflectors but for my DIY that I can cut to size as needed, these clips were the best solution I could find.

DIY reflectors. Can you elaborate on this?

@@benjaminhesselholdt8397 Rosco sliver sheets/roll, they make 3/4 different grades, with different reflective qualities, and some thin plastic white sheets or board. Glue them on, leave one side white. You have different grades of reflector. If you want heavy duty buy Silver Acrylic Mirror cut to size. Make sure to get one with an anti scratch surface.

Hi, thanks for sharing this video 😁👍
Between long tubes and Dash, the 10" light sticks are nice (those with softgrid).
Do you know the Phottix G Capsule ? Specially the 30x55cm ? It's a tiny softbox (white interior) + gel holder + thick softgrid + umbrella lantern. With a tiny COB you get an alternative to Aputure F21's. So usefull !
E-flects looks nice, would love to use one, one day.
Big shallow silver umbrellas are way less expensive and lightweight than GIANT Fresnel ! 😂 Great when you dont have low ceilling.

    Hey, thanks for the info!
Just had a question about the umbrellas, would I get the same result in terms of light quality by using a silver bounce board instead? does the dish shape of the umbrella change the quality or do you just use them due to ease of use and only having to use one stand?

Hypothetically if the silver material was identical you would get similar results but differing spread. In a way thats what CRLS does, but of course different use scenarios. silver bounce board is fairly hard, but prob in ballpark of hard silver umbrella and if you get deeper umbrella versions it will spead less etc etc....
