And also because most people don't care about the old movies due to Oda not being involved much (if at all). From his design, his attitude, his background story and to his powers.
The other filler character mostly felt like they fit into the OP world.

It's cause a lot of people don't like the animation style they used (and some don't like the dark nature of the plot since it was so different to usual tone of the series). And also because most people don't care about the old movies due to Oda not being involved much (if at all). Most only care about the 'One Piece Film' ones cause Oda had was significantly involved in those (wrote Strong World, executive produced Z & Gold).
I personally love the movie, but most other people are too quick to judge or just ignore anything that doesn't have much or any involvement from the mangaka.

There’s something you missed about Apis’s fruit. Her fruit allows her to talk to Sea Kings basically making her the the Ancient Weapon Poseidon aka the Mermaid Princess.
