I grew up in a logging family, to this day the donkey (winch) and the bones of the horse that walked off to die are still findable on the mountain of the Fraser Valley of BC.

What a gem of footage here! Looks a lot like Jordan River @ 07:56 ... can anyone clarify where this footage is taken?

Much of the surplus highway equipment used for the massive Socred highway projects were resold to local logging outfits when the highway building was done or it became too obsolete for the more advanced highways leading to bulldozers etc being quite affordable in certain years of those times if you just wanted to start an outfit and go logging. Even if you look to this day there's all kinds of abandoned equipment and vehicles all across BC waiting to be revived especially the old caterpillars that were mostly obsoleted (except the few needed for road and trail building) when fellerbunchers and modern style skidders arrived. All mostly fine equipment it's just too expensive to destroy or truck it elsewhere to be sold so it basically sits and gets started once a year if it's lucky.

That's what 60's logging was. Clear fast until stopped by depletion or law suits.

Jeez, they spent more time talking about boat engines than they did chainsaws....
    What were they thinking?

Those old boys probably logged the timber for the house or apartment you live in.
