ok. here's a puzzle for you. the gauge is reading appropriately, yet every time the vehicle accelerates, it continuously beeps with the check charging system warning. On idle, it's fine, but upon acceleration, it goes off. The gauge is consistent and i've already swapped the battery
my sister has a 2004 ford mercury mountaineer she got the battery and alternator change also the belt change still having the same problem charging system problem. now it won't say nothing please help what next ?
hey jim did you omit some diagnostic steps...like the pcm sends 8-9 volts to the regulator to enable alt....that's what bbb industries wiring diagram states. I realize the alt is making a noise to justify replacement, but, what about wires going to the gen not from???? what did I miss
I just had a 2012 ford truck with that battery light on, it was charging, and had a code p0625...gen-sense had 12v and lit a bulb test light, but when I plugged the connector back into the alt I saw that the gen-sense dropped to 0v...found this out by back probe using a scope...good vid jim
Thanks for a good Video. I have been plagued with undersized exciter wires on the Ford truck alternators. How fitting that you could wake up dead in your garage around the Easter season! Ha ha ha.
Hi Jim. Glad i found you, liked and subscribed. Great video and thank you for your time. Wanted to ask you, how much would a job like this cost if I were to bring my car to any repair shop? Thanks again.
Can anyone help me? I have a 05 marquis I bought and battery light Comes on and off.. When I drive it go's off.. It comes on and off. I had the alternator and battery checked and was told it was good. The car runs and drives smoothly no idle issues or anything... Any idea what it might be?
I see that the Alternator has been changed before , did you replace that Alternator ?? ,How many miles ?? , on the vehicle ? Jim Check out South Main Auto Chanel , good Video on Dianoseing the idler pulley and the Alternator noise , keep up the GOOD work .

Thanks Jim watched this video and was able to replace all the parts within 2 hours myself and had my mountaineer running again!
Thanks man, I've been working on this issue for the last couple weeks.
Glad I could help
Well done sir
Is this a 4.0liter v6 ?
Thanks again Jim. I can see why you like that small hand held unit. It's simple to use and no guess work. Nice work.

Replaced Battery and Alternator still getting a "Check Charging System light, on my '04 Ford F-150. What else could be causing the issue?

What yellow electronic tool is that ?? Name and model number. I'd be interested in picking one up. Thanks.
This tool is made by Medtronic I have had this one for a long time and I don't think they make it any longer. Check my Amazon store for others.

Depending were you are the price will vary but here in Northern N.J. using good quality parts around $300.00-$400.00
Another good one Jim.
Any need for memory saver batt ?

What is the idle speed?
@@jimthecarguy don't have a rpm Gauge on this year
@@jimthecarguy actually it is a little higher than it's supposed to be... Just a little bit
@@jimthecarguy it would run a little high then go back down... You think it might be the voltage regulator?
Nice upsell on the belt and tensioner. Most likely that'll keep it from coming back for same problem
Yes it is better to change it now then to have a come back. Watch for the next free tool giveaway coming soon.
i would like to see more diagnostics and less parts changing.
Jim...Do any of those tools tell you anything that a DVOM can't?
If your not getting a check charging system light more than likely you have a bad battery.
Thanks for watching.
@@jimthecarguy thanks great video!
great info
Well done Jim. Ignore the purists. Showing how is just as important as why!
