Its only getting better! And best part is they are actively trying to optimize for the Deck, and they make decent developmental progress across the board. So I'm very excited for full career mode, and later full game release. Its honestly one of the only games I find myself playing on mine despite wanting to get around to the rest of my library that may play smoother.
This year i got a steamdeck and turns out, the optimisation for beamng seems going well as there is now a dedicated option for the graphics for steamdeck and runs at 30 fps at both east coast and west coast USA
Yeah I've had that occasionally, some maps are just too much for the Deck. That said, pre-cryo it was much worse, many more tracks would freeze, black screen then eventual reboot.
@@harrythebossgamer7280 Oh I've not tried AI traffic, I'll maybe look into this soon. Been toying about some more in BeamNG but on my puny Aya Neo i3 1215U which for being puny is surprisingly strong.
@@harrythebossgamer7280 Got a steam deck on the way. Going to get this. So it plays fine with you by yourself with no other cars but with a few others you may crash into the game has issues?
I remember trying to play it a few years ago with my Asus laptop with igpu only, and i had like 15fps on 800x600, low settings=))) and now you get 60fps on a handheld device
It really is mind blowing how far gaming has progressed in the last few years. I'm working on a device I never thought would get further than silly little games and it should manage some pretty decent AAA titles... just not PC ones. Hopefully we will see some more BeamNG improvements over 2024 and hardware progressing even further.
🤔 Did you lower your resolution? Because if you hit fsr on. It won't work until you drop resolution abit. Plus make sure you check in power settings 5 to see if fsr is on.
Yeah around 1minute in I set the resolution to 960x600 and let the in built FSR work its magic. If you watch this vid, ruclips.net/video/mNhc_8KBws8/видео.html , I ran through CryoUtilities setup and it improved game play in BeamNG.Drive even more. Honestly It blew me away how so many more scenarios worked in game.
I'd probably say no! If I was being sensible. But BeamNG is currently 20% right now meaning its only about £15 to buy, so heck why not buy it for the Deck, it will not be a perfect experience but for the price it will be fun enough and you'll always have the game to play as and when you get a beefier PC or when a more powerful Deck is released.
@@tylerbrown9797 You've just introduced me to a new game. I'd never heard of Motor Town. Looks good and its got a free demo. Seems to be advertised as Steam Deck playable. I'll give it a play and report back.
@@handheldgaming4life Yeah I just bought it a day or so ago after trying it, it is super fun. Like GTA vehicle side quest simulator except if that was the focus of the game and the driving mechanics were very realistic. Drive the taxi and only accept "urgent" customers and it becomes a damn good open world racing game (make sure to put the car into sport or drift mode). Take all the assists off, set it into "drift mode" and try driving the box van, it is a beast. You can do some massive powerslides if you downshift with some cargo in the back and throw it into the corner. Realistic? Well that depends whether you are asking if the physics are modeled well (they are) or if it is realistic that a stock box van would come with such a monster engine... Also the minicooper is only $8000 and you can stick an absolutely mental engine and powertrain in it. Is it a good idea? No. Do riders using my taxi service get to experience what it is like to be a rally driver co-pilot for the low price of a taxi ride? Yes.
Yup, if you have any problems with a game its worth trying different version of Proton. Usually I'll share the version I've used if I have any problems. Otherwise I go with the latest main version.
You'll need to a big SD card to install the game as it won't fit on the Deck itself. But no reason it won't run as the storage and screen finish is the only thing different from my 512gb model.
Do you mean dropping the resolution? If so if its full screen it will run at native res, switch it to windowed and then you can tweak down the resolution (i've found it doesn't generally save the resolution for some reason though).
Also just tried it with the best tweaking I can and here's what I got: Good - runs smoothly with the right settings(low to normal), but only after a while when the map loaded perfectly. - It doesn't seem to crash that often, mine only happened at first play and another when I tried a higher setting. - A.I works properly but I don't know about bigger activities. - Game runs properly at 30fps, it can reach higher but not as stable. Bad - As stated, lower settings is necessary and graphics is the main point of it so if you don't like a lower quality then it's not for you. - Even though I said it can run properly at low setting, it can still lag and drop at different times like collision/crash, high speed in a race, etc. - The loading times is pretty slow as well as the UI so cycling through the menus is pretty tedious. - For some reason, mine still reached over 90+ CPU even at low settings at a certain circumstance.
Works... but about 30fps. If your primary reason for purchase of a Deck is for BeamNG then I'd say don't. I think the Asus ROG might do better but even then I think 40fps will be all you'd get.
I locked it to 60fps because I'm using FSR on a low resolution and there wasn't much point sacrificing fidelity for more frames. That said as you can see 60fps isn't hit all that often so you could probably just leave it with no lock in place.
Does anyone know how to fix error code 0x30000001 on beamNG drive steam deck? It just show that error code and the game not launching, thanks in advance 😢
I bought this game to play it on my steam deck. With in 10 mintues, i asked for a refund, becasue what's the point of buying a game that you won't be able to play most of the fun parts on it, i find it a waste of money.
Definitely a game for a beefy PC but if you already have the game it works in the most part on mobile devices. I'm even testing it on a low powered Aya Neo i3.
I think perhaps any major mods would reduce the game to a crawl. I did download car jump arena, but its now having a weird issue where it doesn't show for some reason and I've struggled to re-add it.

I think the beamng team optimized it just a little bit for the steam deck because when I played it last year it was darn near unplayable
It was pretty grim even with tweaks until we got Cryobytes update which transformed the game.
How do I get cryobytes Update or is it automatically integrated in the game?

Only issue is sometimes it shuts down my steam deck when I’m loading into certain maps :(

Play @50fps. You won't even notice the difference.
