These are made out of 100% Dutch potatoes, fried in Dutch oil, with Dutch sause, fried by some one from "Emsterdem" like you texans say, so not really very Belgian in any way or shape, and there is for sure not halve a pint of vinegar on the fries, like they east them south of the border..

I was just over there like 2 weeks ago and kept on going to those places. Mannekin Pis was closed for remodeling it looked like but was lucky that it reopened before I left. I forgot to try the weitsaus which I regret.
It might be. But it could legitimately be a good tasting sauce. I've had my share of weed food but with THC in my time. The weed taste in general is bitter, so I don't really like it. However, I have had bitter melon which is really bitter. I've taken that and mixed it with lemon/lime, coconut milk, tomatoes, hot peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro, and soy sauce and it tasted pretty good. I can see weed sauce having that potential. Vlemincxz is pretty much on that touristy road anyway. It's always crowded with tourists and don't have to reinvent themselves. They actually have multiple menus in different languages. Given their space, and the fact they won't expand, they probably don't have the means to expand their menu for another sauce. It looks like they have been around for 60 years. They probably don't want complicate what is already working and has been working for such a long time. MP, on the other hand has multiple locations around NL and probably have the means to experiment with new sauces. Plus, I didn't see anything that was English on their menus. But, I think its pretty cool to expand to new sauces. There are so many possibilities because potatoes are good with a lot of different flavors. Vlemincxz was probably my favorite when I was there because the fries itself were cooked perfectly. Burger Bar on the other hand wasn't like that. The fries were pretty dry and really salty. Other than that, the other fries stands that I went to were pretty good and didn't have the long line like Vlemincxz.
You need to be a savvy tourist, or have GPS, to find Vlemincxz! I've been to the city over a dozen times and I still find myself getting lost trying find it down that little pedestrian street. It looks easy enough to find on Google Maps. : )
Most definitely. I had a really hard time finding it myself. But once you do find it, it's like your new magnetic north in Amsterdam. They're like Pringles, once you pop (them in your mouth), you can't stop. So multiple visits is like a must. I think because of its reputation, it's a pretty sought out place to go to eat for tourist who do visit. I have been craving those fries off an for the last 2 weeks. Vlemincx de Sausmeester is my fav over there.
The fries here are VERY bad. There must be at least a few hundred places in Amsterdam with much better fries. I live in the center of Amsterdam and like good fries. This is not the place for it. That sign "Voted no 1" must be a lie. There have been some rankings and this place never got a good ranking. This is just to fool the very stupid tourist who have no idea what good fries are. People who claim the fries at this place are good have no idea what is good.

For good fries, get out of Amsterdam, travel to the north east of the country, to Zwolle or go to Groningen... Amsterdam is expensive and often low quality, and bad attitudes too, most of them can't speak propper Dutch, they use their dialect on you..
