The President cannot close the border through executive order because of asylum laws. Legislation would be required, but the bipartisan bill in the Senate was just blocked last week from debate and amendment by 45 of 46 Republicans (and 5 Democrats who were against the bill making it tougher to apply for asylum).
Whenever they scream "nobody is above the law!" ask them about their opinion on illegal immigration.
Those who wish to apply for asylum can come in through or between ports of entry. The only way to apply is to get to the U.S. You can't generalize that everyone entering between ports of entry are doing so illegally. You would be wrong.
I thought he was suing texas for not letting in illegals. Also illegal migration has only slowed down because of what texas and Republican states have done.
Sued Texas because they were using the state to harm other.
Despite what blowhard says border crossings under President Biden have consistently been better than fading oranges.

Um ... Biden had the Title 42 public health order extended to mid-May 2023. The President cannot close the border by executive order because of federal asylum laws. Legislation is required. 45 of 46 Republicans senators blocked the bi-partisan legislative bill last week that would have prevented CBP from being overwhelmed and allowed for closures. 5 Democrats also voted "No" as the bill would have made it harder for people to apply for asylum.

You probably think Biden opened the border on Day 1, am I right? Actually, he extended the public health order Title 42 until mid-May of 2023. Without that, legislation is required to close the border. Last week, Republicans voted "NO" to even debating the bipartisan bill which included border closures, "no" to" tougher restrictions on seeking asylum, "no" to the end of catch and release, and "no" to more detention centers and border patrol and judges to process asylum cases which currently has asylum seekers waiting an average of 4.3 years into the future for their court hearing dates. Republicans cling instead to their nonstarter HR2 bill which had included ripping away legislated safeguards that protect unaccompanied minors. What's up with that need to be cruel to kids?

No, he cannot. Biden extended the COVID public health order Title 42 that began in March 2020 until May 20, 2023. Outside of a public health order, legislation is required to close the border. The president cannot do it by executive order because of asylum laws. It's incredible how so many comments reveal how abjectly UNCURIOUS people are about facts and laws. My second favorite part is how it adds personnel not to secure the border, but to process immigrants quicker so they don't have to wait in cages as long for their free trip to any city.

If you truly care about immigration and border security, walk your talk and vote to elect enough Democrats to pass comprehensive information reform, which includes modernizing the security of our borders. The Republicans have driven these subsidies down to 15% or less since that time.
