2021-01-12 Xiao Qi Ji Interrupts Mei's Nap in the Most Adorable Way

- Day 144 #PandaStory: Xiao Qi Ji wandered out of the den Monday afternoon while Mei Xiang was sleeping on top of room 3's rockwork...
This has to be one of my most favorite videos to date. Our Qi Ji, not uttering a peep, leaves the den and is out of sight for a bit during which Mei Xiang becomes aware of where he is, but she stays put. He meanders beneath where she's lounging on the rocks, trying to figure out how to get to her. Mei bleats, moves to the playpen, and Qi Ji has to navigate the stalks of bamboo to try to get to Mei Xiang as she bleats her encouragement. Persistent, and precious (those legs!), once in Mei's arms, they play a bit before he nurses. After negotiating the rockwork's ledge, he rather clumsily tumbles off and he returns to the den.

What a sweet mom mei is encouraging and telling our little boy qi ji how to find her what sweet sounds she makes and to watch these two play and mei's watchful eye what a wonderful mom she is.Cubbie sure is cute imitating mom just loved it he has watched and learned so cute. Doxie i can see why this is one of your favorites it is one of mine as well. Cubbie cute back legs and how he stands up so adorable. Thank you Doxie you are the one who helps me with all the videos keeps me happy and sane through all this world of unsettled times. thanks again.
Remember when he could barely scoot around, and no hair? Now look at him. It has been an interesting and joyous journey.

Mei is in the playpen waiting for her little guy, but he can’t get past the bamboo until mom starts eating it. That’s hilarious! Mom has the patience of a saint. Then when mom starts eating bamboo I chuckled how he imitated her. 🐼💖
I love how Mei watches him trying to climb onto the rock work. You can tell her instinct is to help him, but she hold back so he can do it himself. Mei is a great teacher!
Can't say it enough......love how Mei knows to leave him alone so he learns how to navigate life, be independent! I love her rearing skills, we can learn from her!

That bamboo looked like a impossible task but QiJi wasn’t giving up.He was going to get up to Mei. He is a determined little boy. You got a love them,I do.❤️❤️❤️💗💙

My heart is soooooo happy watching these two. They actually bring tears to my eyes. He was so quiet coming out of the den and finding Mei. She is such a good Mom. She found her son quickly and bleated so sweetly for him to come to her. They r so precious. He wasn't going to let anything stop him from getting to Mama. He is very deliberate in his climbing. His movements look more mature now. Their play is just so heartwarming. They truly live each other and their wrestling matches. He is a wiggle worm for sure. I will never forget their nursing scenes. Jusy pure love and compassion. The human race and especially the US should be required to watch all of this live and patience and learning. I don't think I could live these two pandas more and then they do something and I fall in love all over again. Thank u from the bottom of my heart Doxie Mom. A friend of mine had to put his dog down today. It is a very sad day. U have no idea how much this helped him and me. God bless.

Pandas eat bamboo because they were "out-carnivored" probably thousands of years ago. I agree with you; humans can learn from our four-legged fur beings 🐼❤.

Sandra, all 3 Giant Panda mothers I've had the privilege of following ~ Bai Yun from the San Diego Zoo, Lun Lun from Zoo Atlanta, and Mei Xiang ~ have all been amazing to watch as they reared their cubs! Pandas are my passion 🐼
Awww, he will master coming of the wall soon. This makes my day when I see these two, mum is amazing, always knows where he is, even when she's asleep. xx

Mama Mei’s bleating is wonderful to hear. The way Xiao follows and understands is a phenomenon as well. The watchful and restrained Mei might be the best mama ever. Little Xiao and Mei delight and inspire me every day!
What an amazing mother! Mei encourages her little man, reminds him where the rock wall is a bit shorter, then waits patiently and lets him figure it out. We love the Panda Bear Hug Mamma Mei gives her persistent little guy when he succeeds! Xiao Qi Ji is becoming so very independent; won't be long before he masters that taller ledge! She showed him where to come and then let him try to get up on his own. At the 5:16 mark, it looked like she may have been trying to encourage him with her right paw but I don't know if that was the case or bamboo had something to do with it. This is good. Give him a clue, let him try to work it out, encourage him, and hug him afterwards. @ 12:40, seeing little mite go after bamboo while Mei is outside eating. Cute.

This was a particularly sweet video. Their behavior is so human-like, it's scary.
This has to be one of the sweetest videos ever! Love the way our little miracle rustled the bamboo to wake his Mommy up, what a smart little guy. I also love the way Mei keeps an eye on him, but let's him take his time and learn to climb. What a patient Mom she is! Just want to hug them both. Baby needs his Mom and Mom keeps a loving watchful eye out for her baby. Makes me happy to watch them both. Thanks DoxieMom!

Absolutely agree Doxie! This is just over-the-top precious. Qi Ji tries so hard to get to Mom (I'm so impressed that he can leave the den on his own now!) who doesn't miss a trick as far as what he's doing. What an incredibly endearing 15 minutes this is! thank you so much again....

Just watched this OMG how adorable! Our Baby Bear and those cute chubby adorable legs struggling with the stalks of boo to get to his Momma and the Mommy and Baby cuddle time so endearing. He was such a tiny little furry buddle of absolute joy.
Our baby boy is growing up! But I'm not sure his Mom is happy about that. I do not like how she drags him about but I love when he runs after her!

Super cute! Mei bleats "come here son" while cubbie dawdles a bit. Just like a two year old! It was hard to tell if he was really struggling getting over the bamboo or still somewhat dawdling. At any rate, I love the way he plays by himself and puts himself to bed. Thank you DoxieMom.

Doxiemom. I sent last couple days to Mike(my other half )he's heading home from Utah and as i love pandas. He does also and cuz doesn't get to see every day couldn't believe how miracle grew yup i said. He also noticed those eyes had to stay bak but we goen next wk we say thank you very much 🤗🐼🐼 o for got his sister in Kansas started showing grandkids on big screen 😀

I believe he starts consuming bamboo, not just mouthing it or accidentally swallowing some, around 6 months, so in the next 6 weeks or so.
