i dont care what anybody says, Chapman's first headed goal is one of the best goals ever seen. Football made so simple. 5 touches from keeper to back of the net! Awesome.
I wars in the Kop at Hillborough that day and when he went down for the penalty I laughed and said never a penalty. The bloke next go me said it was as clear a penalty as he'd ever seen and that when I saw it on MOTD that I would come back and apologise ............never saw that idiot ever again and if I remember right , Watson was fined by the FA for bringing the game into disrepute
Thanks for uploading this. I remember watching it live on TV at the time, when I would have been 8 years old. That dive by Watson stuck with me ever since!
Should add, I reckon Chapman never got the recognition he deserved at national level. He may have been a donkey but he was always in the right place at the right time to stick the ball in the net. I suppose if Lineker hadn't been around at the time, then perhaps there would have been a place in the national set-up for him.
I get the feeling Chapman is more respected at Wednesday than he has at Leeds. he’s probably Leeds most prolific goalscorer of all time… Hardly anything on RUclips from Leeds
One of the best football matches ever. Even Wednesday fans were loving the Leeds. I remember this so very well. It was a Sunday afternoon and I’m watching on the telly in Sheffield with four Wednesday fans. Suffice to say their cocky attitude gradually wore away and they became very silent. Now I had been given Sunday lunch by these poor people and they did Roast Pork! So I felt guilty for gloating but by the time the forth goal went in they were almost crying .
Alan Parry was the commentator on the ITV live broadcast. At the time there was a lot of talk of ITV ignoring Leeds and Aston Villa even though they were going for the title, and showing the usual big 5. Alan Parry actually alluded to it in the commentary I remember. And Gordon Watson, who later suffered a horrific injury, must cringe every time he sees that dive.
That Gordon Watson dive was so outrageous that it was funny. At least it made no difference to the result. Reminds me of Stephen Taylor of Newcastle (2005 l, I think) when he handled the ball on the line to save a goal and then dived as if he had been shot by a sniper! He got sent off, as did his team mates Bowyer and Dyer for fighting each other. Hilarious.
SERGEANT WILKO the last ENGLISHMAN to win the league His buys for the most part were brilliant white Fairclough Dorigo Wallace Macallister Chapman Strachan to name a few When Lee Chapman was on form like that he was just about unplayable MOT
I watched this match and remember that dive well. Thought the bad decision would dent Leeds and it might be a turning point. How wrong I was. Had £2.50 on 5-1 to Leeds at 66-1- good night out spoiled by Rod Wallace! Strange to think Woods was keeping for England at this time too. Wish it was still a top of the table clash.
Every sheff wed player was torn a new arsehole that afternoon. They won't watch this as they would be too embarrassed. Especially gordon watson and his absolute joke of a dive for their penalty.
Oh look after 2 weeks he summons up the nerve to come back, but the best he can do is post a " U MAD BRO! " comment. Seriously, nobody says that anymore. Always in Leeds' shadow.
There was a flu epidemic in the Wednesday camp , most of the players where ill . Obviously they did not want Leeds to know ,But after the game it was hushed up . But it still got out ,
It wasn't that Leeds were good or anything,it was more that Sheffield Wednesday were appalling plus they were missing key players.Leeds won a very hollow and poxed league in 92 after that it was all downhill that eventually resulted in relegation and bankruptcy.Couldn't happen to a nicer club second most hated club after man u/fa.5>0.Amen.
Very bitter talk the fact is Sheff Wed finished 3rd that year they were a top team and we thrashed them 6-1 Leeds played good football and we're deserved champions in 1992

That dive for Wednesday's penalty was friggin' Olympic gold medal worthy

20 years later and the fans remain the greatest in the world.

Thanks for sharing! I was 10 years old this season and remember this game as the moment when I became a proper Leeds fan!

whyte and fairclough most underated defensive partnerships
Chris Fairclough was so underrated,he was brilliant
I get the feeling Chapman is more respected at Wednesday than he has at Leeds. he’s probably Leeds most prolific goalscorer of all time…

Bring back The Match, Better than Sky ;-)
I would have never seen this if it wasn't for your upload nice one 🇬🇧
Speed cross for Chapman's goal. Diving header. I was there. It was as magical then as it is now. Oh to be a Leeds United fan. MOT
Noticed how ex players of each club celebrated their goals, thats passion, not like these days
The most blatant diving I've ever seen on the Weds penalty. Tom Daley would've been proud.

I don't remember making a DVD about this like Sheffield Wednesday did.

the wednesday were done over on their own manor. leeds united at their very best that day.
So much for that. Battered you the entire game. One moment of magic got you a point you never deserved.
I can imagine Watson's dive without the rugby ball going to VAR
We all love Leeds!
A few ex Leeds players playing for the Wendy’s: Worthington, Palmer and Sheridan.
better to be a has been than a never was..... so much bitterness from one of Yorkshires minor clubs.
Think Wednesday were third going into this game! Other great away performances that year 1-4s v Everton (league cup) and Villa.
Hmm, what was no3 Pig doing for the 1st goal?
