  • The tale of Dragons once existing is plausible and extraordinary but the Legacy of the Fourth Dragon King of Bhutan is unparalleled and unprecedented.
His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gylapo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck was born to Druk Gylapo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck on 11 November 1955.
His Majesty ascended to the Golden Throne as the Youngest Monarch to reign at the tender age of 16 years old.
Bhutan saw many developmental activities throughout the Golden Reign of His Majesty. From believing in mythical Dragons to seeing an aeroplane soaring in the sky, from bearing fire torches to lighting with electricity and from traveling on barefoot to traveling on motor roads. His Majesty traveled the lengths and depths of the country to bring change.
The concept of Gross National Happiness to measure the progress of the country and its people rather than Gross Domestic Product was revolutionary and unique to Bhutan borne from his Majesty's love for the people.
The first television and internet was introduced, information accessing was made easier and Bhutan really progressed to great height under his Majesty's monarchy. The changes was inevitable but we had strong-hold on our roots, our identity and culture.
His Majesty personally led his countrymen to victory during the times of great external threat to the country, its people and its peace. It shook the world when the military operation succeeded in just three days. His Majesty was the first king to ever abdicate the Golden Throne speaking volume of Virtuous leadership.
His Majesty the fourth Druk Gylapo was a selfless, visionary, sacred and a courageous king to ever bless the Earth. We thank you for your selfless deeds towards the people of Bhutan.
May Eternal Golden Sun Shines in the land of Thunder Dragons.
    Kadrinchoe Miwangcho.
