I say plow the grass field as well, it's just a bit of time and a small amount of seed to get the best yields, better to have too much than not enough.
Definitely plow the field. I'd love to see what you end up buying for a seeder. Besides, having a seeder on hand will definitely help with your contracting business in the spring!
Should put the box spreader on the front and tow a trailer full of lime in the back, just go with the explanation that you've got Davey in the trailer lobbing shovel loads of lime over the tractor cab into the box spreader to keep it topped up. LOL. Thanks for the vid mate.
Great work mate 👍🏻 I'm still playing catch up so I guess it's already been done but I would definitely plow the grass field 👍🏻 I'm on to the next episode now.
I'm using grass as a cover crop, between maize harvests, it looks like I can get first cut of grass in time for the maize planting. I believe, that in some weather districts, you can whole-crop winter barley and maize in the same calendar year - not sure if your crop calendar is so accommodating.
It might be far too late, but you should use the grass-plow from maize plus. So you can plow the grass-field without reseeding. Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Nobody likes a battered rim.... I'm sorry!! Great episode FSG, might be worth a test that the subsoiler will work on ploughing contracts if you get any and yes plow the field in.
I would advice to plow the other grass field as well. For subsoilers: I use the Lizard Combinale a lot. It looks like the Agrisem, but is foldable if you use wider working with, so it's usable on tight maps too.
Great episode FSG and busy one and don’t forget to get your money off Charles for the lime and I think you should plough the field and keep up with the great work as always 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plowing and reseeding a grass field provides no increase to yield so you gain nothing but having said that I almost always plow mine up if required because I don’t like seeing the red on my farm lol
I also noticed last episode, you forgot the mineral feed in the mixer, so despite having the mix ratios within their respective margins, you only ended up with forage. Also, you can cut the wrap off the silage bales before adding them to the feed mixer - just for immersion :) Loving the series as always! Keep the awesome video coming!
Mineral feed for immersion and if using the auto-mixer, otherwise it is not needed for TMR. The game only requires silage and hay to make TMR. I do agree that the plastic will give the cow juice a bit of a lego taste.
Gee, I wonder how you could have avoided a slow travel back to refill lime. Oh I know, a semi could have been hauling that for you so you didn't have to stop and waste time slowly crawling back along those 'muddy' roads. You need a semi. 😉 I think you should plant a supplemental grain crop in the field. Canola or something not used by your operation, unless you need more feed for your livestock. Just remember, mares eat oats and does eat oats but little lambs eat ivy. Love the entertainment that Farmflix offers up each episode!!
If you were going to buy agrisem subsoiler, you ought to get the seeder to fit on to it and plough and seed at the same time. I know you cant plant in December but it’s just 1 pass. Carry on 👍 Happy days
echo's what Mark thor said about easy dev mod ;) loving this series too adding the farm manager opens it up a lot , keep up the great work :) might be an idea to build some sort of buy points on the farm ALiEN JiM has a couple of nice small buy point sheds for Lime, fert & seed and stuff would save going to the store all the time i know it can be a pain.
Been loving this series so far, I think it would be a good idea to get some overseas help in come spring when you get super busy.. could probably get someone in from new Zealand to take the pressure off😁
The big advantage of plowing is it removes the weeds and if the stones aren't too bad in that field, I say plow it. Reseeding will give a bumper crop. Cheers
Some one likes F12 for Lime lol. You should plow and reseed the grass field, it does make an impact to the yield. I don't think a subsoiler will work for a plowing contract.
If my intence is grass, I wouldn't plow it....BUT I would plow it and seed the AlfaAlfa...I think it's working the same way as the regular grass regarding animal feeding ( hay, silage -> TMR ) , but it would be a nice change after all the grass 🙂
you make awesome videos! very addictive to watch! pity farming is not in real life because a forage harvester can cut it shorter in real life so better for the cow hope you keep the forage harvester. keep up the good work!!
Looking through the comments, I've seen both plow for increased yield and no plow as it doesn't increase yield. Plowing does affect yields with precision farming, but for grass the ability to get an additional crop (by rolling) out weighs the delay by plowing and re-seeding. I don't know how it works base game, but here's a chance to find out. Leave it as is until the next mow, and then plow and re-seed to see what results you get.
Came here for the Autodrive and CoursePlay tutorials, stayed for this awesome content. Been playing FS since FS09 and have never seen FS RP-gameplay! Keep up the awesome story. I love it! Q: I was asking this myself during the last episode. Don't you need mineral feed to get proper TMR, else you'd just get "expensive" silage? Also, I'd love to see a BTS episode/ video of this series as well
Thanks so much you are very kind. Love the idea of a Behind the scenes episode! To answer your question, you don't need Mineral feed for TMR it doesn't have any impact on it. just a cosmetic feed in game, in my aanimal dialogue it shows as TMR, but I'll reference it in a future episode.
Plow the grass field. It will not take that much seed and you should max the yield. I would have applied lime after plowing though, check your lime status again and see if it's still good.
Some fields allow you to use big equipment on the map, as contractor it would be reasonable to keep a set of bigger equipment for the big fields, and medium equipment on rest. Time is money as they say :) So when you upgrading something, think over what you can go big on, and what you cant sell on smaller equipment as you need it for smaller fields. And having multi of equipment is not to bad eider incase something "break down" :)
Plowing and lime don't effect grass yield. Fert after mowing will activate the second (fuller) growth stage. In Decemer grass will shrink back to the first stage and lose yield. Grass does not grow all year
I say leave the one field grass. It will regrow without any other effort on your part. That will give you more time to deal with the farm and the contacting business. Both ventures are new so at least give it a year.
I don't know what the yield difference is, but I would personally plow if it were my field, only because I couldn't stand the shame of seeing that field highlighted in red every time I looked at the map. But that's just my pedantic self.
plowing will give you a bonus so I say plow and re seed the grass no plowing will need to be done again in the grass field just fertilizing after each mow
yet another great episode @thefarmsimguy. I have been looking around for your bale spike and can't seem to find it anywhere. can you give a link to it? Sorry if this has been asked before cant see it in the comments.
I'm not a pro at this, but don't you need to fertilize once again since you plowed after fertilizing the field, or does it just blend in better with the soil?
you are wasting a lot of product with that fert/line spreader. if it doesnt provide the option to adjust the width you might want to think about getting one that does.
I'm late to the party with this series, so appreciate this comment is probably not relevant any more, however... you agreed not to use hope farm vehicles for contracts, but you seem to be using your own machines for farm work. I hope you are charging for that above your salary.
Ploughing is worth it as you never need to plough again so you could say its a 6 year ley .
Thoroughly enjoying the series 👌

Very lovely, let it grow, let it grow…….let it grow. ❄️
I would definitely plow grass field, if you want give huge impression Charlie, then do it. He would huge smiles if yield is very high

I believe, that in some weather districts, you can whole-crop winter barley and maize in the same calendar year - not sure if your crop calendar is so accommodating.
Taking the time to plow is worth the extra yield that you will get.
It might be far too late, but you should use the grass-plow
from maize plus. So you can plow the grass-field without

Plough the Field for a good yield, that rhymes 😄 good episode as always sir. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
You can plow the field and seed it in one go with the Kuhn Venta /HR4040 which attaches to your ripper. Might have to check on Hp. But nice serie!
Yeah unfortunately they are bugged in game at the moment, I'd love to use one of those
Great episode FSG and busy one and don’t forget to get your money off Charles for the lime and I think you should plough the field and keep up with the great work as always 👏👏👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plowing gives you a substantial improvement with yield.
Yes it does 👍
Let it Grow Let it Grow , can't hold it back any more, Let it Grow. Let it Grow , turn away and slam the door . -Frozen sort of .😂

Well done for posting so many videos on the contractor it's really good you nearly post a video every day.well done fsg
More to come!
Thanks fsg
Have you thought that the cows may like some straw to lay on!!!
Nah they've got a paddock for that 😂

Glad you enjoyed it!
you make awesome videos! very addictive to watch! pity farming is not in real life because a forage harvester can cut it shorter in real life so better for the cow hope you keep the forage harvester. keep up the good work!!
You are very kind and thanks for the good tip, I'll definitely consider it
I would plow it up and reseed just to make sure getting the best yield possible.
Great vid. I think it would be cool if you were sent a demo tractor from the dealer, massey or something in late spring when you start mowing again
Yeah nice idea, there might be a few Demo days coming up
Would be even better if it was a massey😂
Or Claas or fendt would be cool
something different to what you are using now
Or a demo combine

The challenge with bigger equipment is you can’t get it through the gates or down the narrow roads
Plowing and lime don't effect grass yield. Fert after mowing will activate the second (fuller) growth stage. In Decemer grass will shrink back to the first stage and lose yield. Grass does not grow all year
Just an FYI you may already know but you can’t use a subsoiler to do plowing conracts
I vote to plow and than reseed the grass. Does not make a large difference but some.
Nice work like always
plow so you can use fret/slurry to increase yield
Plow and reseed
Leave it don't waste money to reseed it 😊 great video 👍
Plow the field. It'll definitely help the yeild for the following drop, just with how FS22 works.
I say plow and reseed the grass field, it will give you a higher yield
Man, doesn't snow that long in VT without it sticking to the ground!
i say plow the other field also turn the new plow around it will still do the same job just as good
Leave it just lime and fertilise and put slurry on it
let it grow
Isn't there is a problem buying a subsoiler though, you can't use them on plowing contracts (as far as I know).
how did you make those custom field for courseplay?
Used the create files function, I’ll do a vid on it 👍
@@TheFarmSimGuy ive tried making fields in the helper menu but they never look very good

plus turning the plow around it will go faster
Not realistic though is it
plowing will give you a bonus so I say plow and re seed the grass no plowing will need to be done again in the grass field just fertilizing after each mow
Hey fsg.
How did you get different crops?
I kind off assumed that the linseed came with court farms.
Hey Kevin, not sure what you mean, Linseed did come with Court Farms, I'm just using the standard PC map
yet another great episode @thefarmsimguy. I have been looking around for your bale spike and can't seem to find it anywhere. can you give a link to it? Sorry if this has been asked before cant see it in the comments.
It's part of the CSZ pack, in the modhub 👍
Good video farm sim guy❤
plow but with an 1.5 meter plow
You are evil 😂
@@TheFarmSimGuy I have been told that by many people! lol
I'm not a pro at this, but don't you need to fertilize once again since you plowed after fertilizing the field, or does it just blend in better with the soil?
Lime is different to fertilizer, I'll still need to fertilize twice
@@TheFarmSimGuy thanks for the information
Keep it. Corn silage is so much more productive.
just coucht up on the series and tree days starit
Wow
Thanks Aron
What map is that?
Court Farms 👍
Plow the field more yield
When are you doing generations again
Hey fsg 🎉
Hey Kyzer!
What's happened to the contracting business???
Winter time so it’s quiet
Now didn’t the Smythe guy tell you not to use his equipment in your business? Very nice of you to use your equipment on his farm though.
you are wasting a lot of product with that fert/line spreader. if it doesnt provide the option to adjust the width you might want to think about getting one that does.

Shouldn't you cover the silage in this snow weather?
I did
Plow IT and seed it. You get more if You do
Ploughing is not your thing😂 is it?😜
It's fair to say I hate plowing
Don't think it's worth plowing the field up for grass
I think you should keep the other field grass 💪👍keep up the good work 😁
