    So you base your port area off the volume of the box? So if I had 3 l7 10s solo baric in a 5.25 box is a port area of 82 okay?

    I bought a couple EMF audio Lowballers 12s and wanted to build an aero port box for them made out of Birch as I was told that the box would be lighter. Would you be able to help me with designing the box so I can build it or to give me a quote if you were to build one for me? Its going into a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V so I don't have to much room but I was told an aeroport design would keep the box size down while still keeping it to specs

    MBE, if i have an enclosure with an 8" sub and xmax 12mm. The enclosure has a 4" round by 12" external port. Now i plug the port, does my box now have that volume? What if the port is internal? What if the port is 8" around?
    I know the answers but not the formula, who has done this formula? I believe the answer is within the compression ratio of the air within the port but taken xmax or how much air the sub can move into factor. So something like a 4" port would add to the volume, but not the entire volume of the tube, 8" tube on the other hand might.

  • @Cyberslug1

    That does not have flared ends so it's NOT a Aero Ports. Aero Ports is a trade name but people use it to describe a type of port. Aero Ports or round ports with flared ends reduce port noise and increase SPL in most cases and that's why people use them.

    • @M.B.Enclosures
      @M.B.Enclosures  3 года назад +3

      Cyberslug1 no proof that flared end increase SPL... but it do reduce port noise for those of you running to small port in sq in

      @@M.B.Enclosures so with a bigger port like a 6 inch you wouldn't really need flares ?

    • @jamesmarshall9459
      @jamesmarshall9459 Год назад

      @@7Logik Correct but then you run into the problem of increased port diameter = longer port. You might end up with a port that is longer then your enclosure. The flares allows you to cheat and have a higher port velocity without noise and a smaller port that fits into a smaller space.

    Port area per cube gets people in the door, but it's a generic equation that just keeps you in a "safe zone" of port for the majority of woofers. T/S parameters, power, and port velocities are the way to design a proper port. I personally find that round ports usually end up being a bit more peaky than a rectangular port with the same area. The rectangle port ends up with more surface area for the sound waves to travel across, and that figure goes up the farther away from square you get.

    • @DavidMiOo
      @DavidMiOo 11 месяцев назад

      Yeah but it's said that's due to port velocity. The velocity would change the tuning, essentially the difference the port makes for sound can be directly related to how much air is moving in the port at that frequency.

    I went all out last yr & did my build out of red oak (at the time $45/sheet) did gray stain w like 6-8 coats of poly looks good from distance lol but any1 who actually knos how to do a proper quality finish would prob facepalm lol it ain't no showpiece but that ½doz+ coats of poly makes that shit bulletproof real talk that bitch is straight seaworthy.lmao but looking back I'd say unless your going for high quality finish, don't bother with that high dollar ply, I mean u don't wanna use garbage, but u can find a sheet of ¾ structural ply that's flat, plumb, w good edges & decent grain & it'd turn out every bit as good I don't think I got any real gain out of using $$ hardwood. I will say that if u ARE looking for the premium premium wood look at marine grade ply it's booku bux but it's top notch much fewer & smaller voids than anything home Depot got. fewer & smaller voids = increased density that's the name of the game so idk u might see some gains there but idk if enough to warrant the extra $

    Can you please do a video on port and subwoofer location on the box. My dilemma is whether or not does the ports sound waves interfere with the drivers sound waves if they are on the same side of the box. If the port has to be able to load off of something, will it cause the driver not be able to develop correctly being too close to a sound barrier being that they are on the same side. Thanks for your channel! You have been very helpful!

    • @DavidMiOo
      @DavidMiOo 11 месяцев назад +2

      It makes a difference but probably not in the capacity you imagine or for the application in which you plan to use. Plenty of boxes have side fitring ports because it's the only thing that will fit. I wouldn't recommend rear though, in a car it wouldn't really matter but technically the pulses cancel instead of stack at the tuned frequency

    Brother. I'm on this looking information about ports. Because I'm gonna build a sound system. And I was trying to find out what BOXES to use and how the ports work's. So I can design my own speaker BOXES. And it's been a while I'm on this you tube link looking. And if I tell u. U wouldn't believe when I said. U is the only black person I've seen speaking about these things bro. Knowing we're the ones who started all this music and speaker box building. But brother just to show a black person with knowledge about speaker's. It looks like an offence !!!!!! Brother keep making BOXES and make video's and post it. I'm learning. And I'm worried about who I learn from. I just need this info. But today I just found u and the people who build cerwin Vegas. And I understand there's three types of BASS. ( 1 BASS REFLEX /2 SEALED BASS / INFINITE BASS ). So I'm thinking that using all three BASS will make my sound system sound RIGHT u know where u play different ( music ) ?????? U sometimes have to change BASS frequency of like reggae /rap /jazz / soca. And so on and so on .Because it's not just one word ( music producer ) recording all the music in the world. So it's clear it's true. One most adjust BASS to suit the ( track playing ). Weather it's any of the above ( music category ). So again thanks for this information brother. Long life and health to u and family ✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✌✌
