Really great video! Although I miss the collision, i think it’s better that they removed it. Part of the reason the games felt so samey in Wii and U from what I’ve seen is because they have to be so open in order to fit 4 players. Without collision, they’re free to make the levels more enjoyable for single player without compromising multiplayer.
I'm just happy they not used "New" in their title, and it makes sense it's named different lol since it's vastly different and better than the "new" ones
1:28 I wouldn’t call it pure nostalgia. What makes mario stand out from the other IPs as that the games are incredibly mechanically refined. They’re near flawless experiences without much bloat. The gameplay has a purity that not many other series have due to its simplicity.
i don't agree with the collision part, when playing with friends it was always picking up other people by mistake. One thing that i would add, it's probably adding some levels a bit more challenging. I get it, at the end of the day it's a game for childs but i miss some hard platforming. For the rest i do agree with everything. Great vid!
Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze are faaaaar harder games and they don't have collision. It's the level design what makes a game easier, so I agree they should add more harder levels, specially since now you can free select which ones to play
5:30 tbh the Super Mario Maker series propably forces Nintendo to make 2D Mario as unique and one of a kind as possible. They even stopped using a tile system to create the levels apparently
I don’t care about what other people say I’m happy with any Mario game good or bad but when a really good one comes out I get giddy wonder is just built different and after 10 years of super Mario u being the only new 2d Mario game I was sold before I could even play it
Even after playing a lot of this game I wasn't convinced but I get it now, I love it; it's so fun and wholesome, delightfully surprising, the online is charming
@@bigdawg12z Metroid stood alongside Mario and Zelda through the NES, SNES, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, GameCube, Wii, DS, 3DS and Nintendo Switch systems. More so in the past but Metroid fits the bill with being as influential to modern gaming and indie games as Mario and Zelda were. It deserves to be recognized as such.
@@bigdawg12z Metroid was made to merge the gameplay of Mario and Zelda and it made something unique and new. Super Metroid on the SNES was the series’s magnum opus, provided one of the tightest designed games ever made. That game alone is used to this day for rom hacks and speedruns and it laid an accessible yet powerful speed running community in its time. The game also inspired the metroidvania genre for games like Ori and Hallowknight where progression is through exploration and upgrades you come across. Unfortunately Metroid never got the same level of appreciation as Mario or Zelda but the inspiration passed onto many other IP’s and games, even Castlevania Symphony of the Night was inspired by Metroid.
1:00 that's because Nintendo has a devision dedicated to creating Super Mario games. and that's not a bad thing because it's not like FIFA or Assasins Creed where they make the same thing over and over again. You never know what the next Mario game will be (both in series and in gameplay style)
There's a lot of pacifically in this video. Glad you liked it tho!
Dude I know
i don't think he's even using it the right way
Bro’s gonna start saying the specific ocean
pacifically? what?

I still hate the talking flowers and I turned the sound off. I wish I could turn the textboxes off too.

2:21 My first two games were Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3.
The real big 3, Zelda, Mario and Metroid.
metroid?

@@wills-way7664 i didn't know it had influence like that

"Pacifically"
10:06 Words that have never been truer. Its why I prefer Mario Maker 2 over the U deluxe.
Yeah it's not perfect if it makes a mistake.
Also, you should play Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. You're gonna lose your mind.
i hate the powerups in this game. maybe its just me but they arent as great as previous games
1:36 pacifically??
Mario Wonder made the MASSIVE mistake of having lame ass bosses, of course it ain’t perfect.
