I can understand that Johnny is going through a rough time. But seriously, Daniel didn't do anything wrong. He got himself a good business. And he even tries hard to be kind to Johnny when Johnny has hit rock bottom. Also, who's fault is it that Johnny has a drinking problem? Johnny blindly trusts Kreese (who tried to kill him). And he shows dislike towards Daniel (who he has no reason to hate). After all the grief Johnny gave Daniel in KK 1, how many people would have been so magnanimous and forgiving? How many people would have offered to fix their former bully's car for free?
I can't actually fault Johnny for having a slight hint of quarrel with Daniel because generally speaking, car salesmen aren't typically the most upfront and frank business workers. Not to mention that Daniel has let his newfound 'success' get the best of him vis-a-vis egomaniac judging by the way he pampers his kids, and he was the one who ignited the whole rivalry in the first place. Johnny had no interest in a rivalry whatsoever, he only wanted to better his life by using his potential (just like Rocky) and better the lives of the next generation.
