We'll have to see how it all shakes out, but rushing into the 90th Johnny vs Daniel fight was so dumb. It pissed me off even more to see how every time Daniel comes to reason, Johnny comes in and apologize and changes first and Daniel NEVER steps up and says "I'm sorry too, we should find a balance". @@lh137 I'm not sure if you misunderstood my comment, but my point was that in Daniel's eyes, he briefly accepted Eagle Fang can be a good thing but then Sam lost.
      It was not until much later that they found out that it wasn't a fair fight and the ref was paid off. But, by then, it was (potentially) too late for Daniel.
      He already saw a moment where he let Eagle fang be used and it led to a loss. He has gaslit himself into thinking Eagle Fang/Cobra Kai isn't the right way...in his eyes, it was Cobra Kai/Eagle fang that was "ok" with cheating and paying off refs...being dirty to win at all costs. And throughout Season 6 so far, he's stayed on that path; no matter how much us as fans may disagree. He has said multiple times throughout the show that "Eagle fang is just another version of Cobra Kai" and eventually Johnny comes to the same conclusion
      Edit: Wording, grammar, and changing some phrasing around to be clearer
      Edit #2: I agree with you that Johnny is a great teacher and he has created multiple champions by himself or through the style he teaches meanwhile nobody that Lasrusso has taught has won yet. Of the winners we have so far....it's been Miguel (only Johnny), Hawk (primarily taught by Johnny first, then Silver/Kreese, and then Daniel...but he's spent the most time in Cobra Kai with Johnny) and Tory vs. Sam is still up for debate, but generally, Tory is likely to always have the edge over Sam whenever she is focused

They have had next to no bonding scenes after the brief Mexico arc, and Johnny continues show favor to Miguel over him. Before the captain fight, he consciously goes to give Miguel advice before Robby, reinforcing the "second place" mentality Robby had that episode. Honestly, I blamed the writers for this. It's like they can't create any more tension or conflicts without rehashing old stuffs. Can't they just do what they do in season 5? Create new problems for the protagonist to solve instead of rewinding everyone's character development so they would fight each other again so they can fill the episodes with conflicts?
    At the end of season 4, Johnny and Daniel ironed out their shits. In season 5 they're basically chill, Daniel riling him up was in context since he's so stressed with Silver's situation and even immediately realized he went off the rail and chilled out. Now in season 6 they just throw all Daniel's progression out of the window. What happened to "We should let the children decides their own karate"? What happened to "We represents two opposing philosophies coming together and finding common grounds when none seems possible"? Now he's just "Miyagi-Do this, Miyago-Do that".
    I enjoyed this show but my god season 6 is kinda painful to watch.

It's true what you said, he does not respect johnny at all in season 6 or ever. He always has to change things or do things against Johnny. I hope by the end of the series Johnny has his own dojo, whether its Eagle Fang or Cobra Kai. Johnny has matured so much, old Johnny would have punched Daniel after getting sucker punched in their disagreement. But Johnny has changed and become the better person, he is doing his best to be a good dad to Robby, a good step dad to Miguel and a good mentor to his students. But Danny and Chozen be stepping on his toes and not including him in things or not considering how he feels. I feel like Daniel just has this pompous attitude and he hasn't changed since day one. He learned from Chozen that Miyagi’s ancestors had to kill Japanese invaders and he still learned those pressure point techniques. Granted, the ancestors were defending themselves but I digress. I really think Daniel got a big head after season 5 due to everyone finally joining his side.

    3:29 The reason why Johnny picks Devon is because she's the only female Eagle Fang student, basically she's his favourite female student and thus, it's biased. Him picking Tory is good, the reason Daniel didn't pick Tory is because he didn't wanted to see her daughter fighting Tory again.
    Daniel picking LaPusso is definitely biased because he's his son and even Johnny taunted him about it but Demitri is like in top 7 students arguably (Demetri just isn't passionate and determined/disciplined for Karate but he's pretty tall & has great defence, he lacks in offense just because of the writers) and ofc Daniel also picked him because he's pure Miyagi Do biased too.
    Hence, *BOTH* Johnny and Daniel were biased, Daniel was the one to call out for their biases and was the one to call Mike.
    Daniel should really stop annoying Johnny, he really needs character development for that I agree with you.

    I feel it’s just like Terry Silver said, Daniel‘s always had a bit of cobra Kai in him, he just is denying it. He even liked the training that silver gave him in part three, and only really got upset once he learned he was being manipulated. I think another thing that show is trying to show, is that while Daniel may have been the protagonist of the original karate kid series, the original movies weren’t so much about his growth as a character in terms of his maturity and anger control, but about him learning karate to defeat his enemies. Now I think cobra Kai is kind of confronting that by showing Daniel in this light. He seems like he’s starting to make a slow crawl out of his cave. By the time part two came around, we shall just have to see what happens when part three comes around.

And honestly, I feel like Johnny joining forces with Daniel was a mistake. Johnny really was better off when he was in control of cobra Kai.

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1
    @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 4 месяца назад +1

    'Bully' is a strong word but one thing that does come through, throughout Cobra Kai is Daniel's snobbery. Even on the first reunion with Johnny, he is outwardly civil and intending to be helpful but it also looks like gloating over Johnny who at that point is clearly struggling financially whereas Daniel is a successful businessman. He is pretty closed minded to anything that isn't 'pure Miyagi' and is constantly trying to run down Johnny's character despite Johnny clearly having changed.
    Even when Johnny defends Miguel from bullies, Daniel is too stubborn to see it and accuses him of 'beating up kids' - he should have supported Johnny there
    Daniel certainly has redeeming qualities - he is fundamentally compassionate and well-intentioned towards his students but of all the adult characters (apart from Kreese and Silver) he has changed the least - or rather, shown the least willingness to introspect

    The Karate Kid: Part III hinted that Daniel was going to be like this in Cobra Kai. In the movie, Miyagi tells Daniel "Just like Bonsai choose its own way to grow, you choose your own way of doing karate, same reason. One day, you do it your own way" but Daniel said that he'd prefer to do it in Miyagi's way. This lead Daniel to be the asshole that he is by not respecting other karate styles that isn't based on Miyagi Do.

  • @rodneyrosenberg9435
    @rodneyrosenberg9435 4 месяца назад +38

    I don’t know if this vid is satire or not, but whatever.
    Didn’t Daniel point out from Ep 1 that him and Johnny should balance both styles in the pawn shop. Plus, he tells Chozen to let Johnny win his fight from having an understanding of Johnny’s hard work on Eagle Fang, that doesn’t seem like undermining to me.
    In addition, didn’t Johnny promise Daniel that he’ll embrace Miyagi-Do in which he doesn’t after taking over Danny for the training in Ep 5, even though he had trained Eagle Fang prior. He began creating mixed messages, and broke his promise, therefore Daniel did what he did in the forest out of Johnny’s incompetence.
    And Daniel stopping the fight between Sam and Tory was valid because Tory was going crazy. She got a point deducted after kicking Sam again after gaining one, began to fight before Johnny actually said to begin and grabbed Sam by her shirt whilst moving her towards the edge of the podium. Tory was seeing red, and Daniel made the responsible choice to end it. Tory left cos she was emotional and believed Danny was favouring Sam over her, which is something Kreese put in her head prior in the parking lot. She even repeated what he exactly said.
    Also, the scene of Danny & Johnny arguing was a showing of Johnny’s inner philosophies clashing. How’s he mad at Daniel for bringing up Miyagi-do when he literally became a Miyagi-do sensei and promised to embrace its philosophy. Plus, the dojo is called Miyagi-do so what else is he supposed to say, he referring to all as one.
    Daniel’s been the most mature this season. Seems a little bias.
