3" screws in all door hinges, use strike strips along the door latch edge; make sure windows do not open more than 6" using stop-nails; always lock doors and windows when leaving home or office, set your alarms; drive exposed screws tips through fence tops pointing into your yard; always use bright LED exterior lights set on a timer, get a gun legally and get proper training on how to use the gun in a tense situation.
Almost everyone forgets to reinforce the door hinges with 3" screws also. Almost all door hinges are attached with the same 1/2" screws that doors locks use. I recently replaced all my hinge screws with 3" screws. You immediately feel the door be more solid when opening and closing. If you have heavy, steel lined doors, the typical 1/2" screw will gradually pull away from the door frame at the hinge juncture. It would be easy to kick in a door at the hinge side, even if you have 3" screws at the dead bolt side, if you only have 1/2" screws at the hinges.
I know this is an older vid but wanted to mention that Kwikset Smartkey although has its own issues with the earlier versions is harder to pick and is bump resistant. Personally, if I get my drill out, I’m taking out the pins as close to shearline as possible or enough to get rid of them. It’s cheaper to replace cylinder itself than a ruin a customers decorative deadbolt. Most all residential pins are brass but the narrow keyway might mess up your drill bit depending on the size you start with so I start with a unibit (aka stepdrill) to get the hole started then go to drill bit. Those door guardians at the last part of the video are better than nothing but because their a low grade aluminum they flex and will not stop a door from getting kicked in. They fail surprisingly quickly too with a little bit of force. The slide bolt design although ugly has been working for thousands of years… Thanks for sharing!

Detain applies directly to commercial and financial locations but in the age of Internet-connected cameras and video doorbells, the 4th “D” is now “Document.” Conclusion: install locks, etc., so they keep the bad guys busy (“Delay”) through Detection (by your alarm system), confirmation (by the monitoring center), and arrival of armed officers. Ideally, the police will beat the enterprising thieves to the inside of your house.

If you do not reinforce your door jamb with something like Strikemaster door and jamb reinforcement products, NO lock will prevent a kick-in attack. Either the jamb and/or the door will split.
You should use a euro lock and a 5 lever mortice lock on outside doors and boor bolts should be used top and bottom of the doors to help prevent door flexing on forced entery and use long high carbon screws and the list peice of hardware is a wast of money use door bolts.

Interesting you should ask. The last part of this video was a demonstration of how to get through a padlock. I had a setup with a drilling hammer, a chisel, a chain, and a steel bracket. I spent so much time trying to get through the padlock that it went longer than this entire video. I never broke through the padlock with that method (I still have it and it still works). It's a medium sized Master lock. So, from a hammer force perspective, padlocks are strong. I think they will fail against decent bolt cutters though, unless you get one of the newer kind that offers little access to the locking shaft (like you see at storage rental places). I mat go back and test the sin the future.
The most common attacks against padlocks are bolt cutter and hammer attacks. To resist common bolt cutters (24") you need a boron or molybdenum shackle at least 3/8" thick. To resist heavy hammer attacks get a lock with dual ball bearing locking with a solid steel body. Not brass or laminated. To protect against large bolt cutters (36-42") you'll need a 7/16" or greater alloy shackle. Shrouded would be best. Go with a high security padlock such as Medeco or Mul-T-Lock and you'll get good protection. Pipe wrench twist attacks will defeat most padlocks also. A carbide rod saw will cut the thickest alloy shackle given a little time. All we can do is harden the target.
About your final comments, I have an assa abloy protec2 door handle lock, it can't be bumped has never been picked (proven) highly anti drill (reinforced strike plate, long hardened screws), of course you get what you pay for that knob set cost $150. Combined with my Mul-T-lock MT5 deadbolt ($200ish) (both entirely different keys that can't be copied). Combine that with a solid door, and a steel reinforced door jamb..good luck breaking in, bring some energy drinks cause your going to be there a long time. I think your videos are good but your preaching to the Home Depot, Lowes crowd not to anyone that knows anything about door security.

Absolutely..my home was broken into three times!! After owning 2, 70 pound Dobermans, (one after the next)..21 years total..NO break in's!! People don't even VISIT me anymore!! Laugh!! Added value..if you ask me anyway. Laugh! They have never bitten anyone..that I know of anyway..But then a theif is not going to report it..right? Laugh!! They ARE trained, both were before I bought them..which is well worth the extra money..trust me on that one! Just in car seats, and furniture alone you save a ton!! Good luck!

Mine WERE when I moved in..not after though. Every screw is at least 3" stainless steel or 4", one of the two!

I would highly recommend the Nightlock. I use it in the center of my double front doors. You would have to bust my doors off the hinges to get in.

How to make a bump key. Tell a locksmith to make you a key cut to the lowest setting on all pin locations on the key. Real easy.
