  • Here is another Scotrail Video from 1986 as a follow up to my last video. This shows the journey from Aberdeen to Dundee and Edingburgh over the Tay and Forth Bridges, I hope you find it interesting.

My first time in Aberdeen was 1996 so its nice to look at a pre Sprinter era. Thank you for sharing.

Fantastic video. Take me back in time. Seeing people still carrying suitcases. Jointed tracks as well at parts of the journey. I used to travel between Inverkeithing and Cupar everyday between 1977 and 1981 to go to college. The old Waverley station when cars were still allowed to enter it.

Another quality video. Surprised to see a 47 on the Dundee - Edinburgh but the 27's were probably being phased out by then? Not been to Scotland for 3 years but I will never tire of crossing the Forth Bridge.

Another really good video - I wonder if the two young lads who got on at Haymarket scored 47118 for haulage and recognise themselves now? I did this journey a month ago on a HST Aberdeen to Dundee for a Class 170 forward. Inferior motive power but in super weather!

Glad you enjoyed it Antony, I often wonder if anyone recognizes them self's on the platforms.

Don't know if it's still the same but Haymarket used to stink of some brewery or whisky factory.

Did they switch which through platform at Dundee was used for which direction at some point?

No, both platforms are signalled for bi-direction working and can be used in either direction.
