I folded a water soaked paper towel and laid it under the print head on a folded sheet of dry printer paper. Then I closed the print head and reinstalled the waste ink bin and closed the printer with the power cord removed. Did this about 10 times to fix a blank streak running down the center of printed pages on a 476dw. Wiped print head dry and allowed printer to dry out a few minutes. Printed flawlessly without another head cleaning or recovery. Dry ink clog on the head caused blank or white streaks on printed pages.
Hi dc1906, I have streaking on the right of my Print Quality Report and tried cleaning the head with 4 parts window cleaner and 1 part rubbing alcohol several times but no luck... Can you help me by advising on how long you left the water soaked paper towel under the print head?
Would you have any tips on cleaning the "receiving side" of the mechanism? I am getting zero magenta on the report, which is telling me that it is the nozzle that sucks ink out of the magenta cartridge is actually plugged. Upon removing the ink cartridge and inspecting the nozzle I can clearly see magenta ink all over and around the nozzle, as if the ink couldn't go through the nozzle and just got spit outside. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. The printer service says to go buy a new printer :(

I thought this would help but it made it worse. Instead of a single white line, it's completely the opposite. Almost all of my black ink is not printing anymore except for a few lines. Besides cleaning the print heads and trying printhead recovery from other videos, I haven't been able to restore it. Now I'm out of ink doing printhead recoveries.
Are you using HP cartridges? I wonder why this is happening to your printer. Printheads usually need cleaning if the printer wasn't used for a while or if bad quality ink is in the system. Some aftermarkets are very bad and ruin the printhead on this printer.
@@303electronics Yes, genuine HP ink cartridges. I very rarely use the printer so that might have been it. I ended up scrapping the printer to eWaste and bought a new generation one.

There is a separator pad that is L shaped and has a small rubber mat on it. The piece us about 2 inches each dimension. Located by the pick up roller. Try cleaning the pad and let me know if that worked. I'll try to see if it could be another issue. Most likely the separation pad. It would also help if you clean the main paper pick up roller.

The cartridges are all original and the yellow level is just under half, I printed just 6,500 pages in total (of which 5000 in black and 1500 in color) I don't often use colors, almost always only black this can be the problem generated the obstruction of the yellow channel? Could I solve with a small amount of head thinner by putting it with a tube and syringe directly into the entrance where the ink of the yellow cartridge is taken? Or do I just do damage? Hi. Try just hot water to start with. I do not recommend soap as it may leave residue. It is a heavier cleaner. Any organic type cleaner will work too. Ammonia is not a must, so if you have a cleaner spray or wondow cleaner without ammonia, it will work too.
I have a PageWide 377dw that I did indeed try cleaning manually like this, but on 300gsm matte photo paper, I seem to get roller marks/streaks, even after cleaning the rollers too. The problem is that the printer is supposed to support photo paper weights that thick, but HP won't offer any support since the paper isn't their brand... But I wouldn't be using a different brand if they had MATTE photo paper... Do you have any suggestions as to what I may be missing from the cleaning process? I definitely cleaned all the rollers I could possibly find with cotton swabs dipped in isopropyl alcohol, even the ones on the waste unit/duplexer.

That sludge can be washed out. Just remove the tray with excess ink, remove ink sludge an rinse out the pads. Wipe all plastics before installing back in printer.

My wife spoke to some tech bloke and he said ammonia must never be used in the inkjet. I have a 576dw and now not sure if I should go ahead or not.

Hi. Clean the area on the printhead where the missing part is.
so going left to right and back is not a good idea. you can bend the thin metal tabs doing so. do the dab and pull towards yourself vs left to right.
