    Monastic live sounds wonderful especially spending time with God in prayer and silence and all else that was mentioned. May God bless them all at the Monasteries.

    I was a sophomore in college when I first started looking into Orthodoxy. I visited a nearby parish and someone there led OCF at Kent State. He invited me to come along when they visited this monastery for an OCF retreat. It was such a beautiful day and experience. It makes me happy to see others getting to experience this too 🙂 good video, thanks for sharing!

    Thank you so much for this. It gives information about what they do as nuns that can also inspire us as lay people. Where can I find the curated discussion?

    I want to become a monk (seriously) but God called me when I am married. I am from the UK but live in Vietnam and there is no Orthodox Church here at all, and there is only one ROCOR Father who is a long long way from me and another who comes from another country now and again. So I am trying to live as much as I can a monastic life whilst my worldly duties but as we all know we have to have a spiritual Father and obedience (and this is where my problem lies). I have a Father who is an Abbot in northern Lebanon who has given me a prayer rule, like sleeping 9pm until 1 am, then waking and doing the Jesus prayer until Matins in the morning etc etc - He is very busy and I am often left to my own devices....

      god calls us all to listen to him where we are, if you look at he origin of the word 'praise' it is in the Hebrew psalms and means give testimony to what god has done for you....and if you can see god in your relationships and everything you do you are living a godly life, listen and respond in the smal things in your daily life and keep your vows to your family....you are called to be selfless in a relationship with a partner or child and that is what the abbess here was saying when she said it is harder to get along with the person sitting beside you at meal time therefore they needed to speak rather than listen to a reading at mealtimes.... yes we can improve on worldly lifestyles for sure....but we are all called to follow god and his spirit 'ruach' is mentioned speaking to all people in the psalms way before jesus...maybe go learn hebrew

    I wonder if "Christphora" is her name given to her at birth or the name that was assigned to her? I have never heard that name before. But Mother Christophora is very wise. I enjoy listening to her. I have never been that religious, but i like listening to her

      New name is given to the monastic when they are tonsured. Christophora is most likely the female name version of St Christopher.

    does this monastery have any connection to holy dormition monastery in rives junction, michigan? i feel like mother gabriella knows these nuns.

    • @kaybrown4010
      @kaybrown4010 Год назад +1

      Yes, there’s a connection between the two monasteries. They are both affiliated with the Romanian Diocese of the OCA and I think Holy Transfiguration helped start Dormition monastery.

    if alll christians could be as wise as those women especially the one on the left of our screen...I am not christian but find the same message about god is in the Hebrew bible, god the father...whom jesus says to look at, not him
