Many thanks to Keith for capturing this amazing footage. It brings back fond memories of traveling through those areas with our family on summer vacations. Simpler times.
These are a delight. My wife just scanned all her mom and dad's old movies and we showed a compilation at their 60th anniversary last week (including the Creston parade - they live S of town).
I flew my hang glider off the sicamous ramp many times. It was the nicest launch of all the sites I ever flew aside from point of the mountain site in Salt Lake City Utah. We used to land at finlawson park and eagle river school plus the Sandy beach below launch during winter flights. Yes we flew in winter time in very frigid conditions plus sometimes carried our gliders into launch when the road was impassible. Great adventure.
I think I was a spectator at that lumberjack competition/exhibition as an early teen. If I remember right it was outside Salmon Arm past 5 Corners out towards the small craft airport. I don’t have to feel nostalgic about Dutchman Dairies ice cream as my daughter insists on going several times every summer when we visit my folks in Sorrento. A little bit of a drive, but worth it for a double scoop Tiger ice cream on a waffle cone. I was hoping this video would get a shot of that old MooseMouse Days billboard that was above the visitor’s centre in Sicamous. My daughter really wants to see a picture of it. Alas, no luck.
In my opinion, D Dutch ice-cream is the best ice cream I have ever tasted! By early 2000's that hang gliding ramp was pretty rickety. We would dare each other to walk on it. The paddle boat was 8 hours of boredom.
All of the footage, film and video, is from my collection and is available for licensing. Please email me for more information. Email is located on the channel main page, thank you.
As a resident of Sicamous, this video was extremely cool to watch. Thanks for sharing a snapshot of our towns heritage!
I am so glad I found this channel!!
Thank you!

Beautiful historical video, . Can I, please, use the short episodes from this video for my movie about Sicamous? Thank you.
