Just recently acquired one and wow, it's much bigger than I thought. The previous owner failed to mention it didn't rotate. And after seeing your video, I realized a spring was missing! Thank goodness for me saving almost all the bits and pieces of other blasters and I luckily found another extension one! Thanks much so for your most valuable of wisdoms!

What a great series! As a newcomer to the hobby, this is exactly what I needed to service my (used) blasters. And Hammershot is just nice. All screws are the same, nothing flies when you open the shell, can be tested before putting back into the shell... So convenient and nice to work with!
I had to completely dismantle a Hammershot I ordered on eBay, since it had below stock FPS and the rotation mech kept jamming. Seems like the previous owner dropped the Hammershot in the sand quite a bit, causing everything to jam up, including the plunger tube, making it either have a bad seal or not disengaging while priming. After cleaning all the parts up and re-seating them, my Hammershot is fully functional and with stock Nerf FPS ratings, now I'm saving up to order the mod kits for it.

This reminds me of the time Cap said that the Reflex 6 cylinder was the same size as the Hammershot and I thought, you beauty! I have both those blasters! Turns out he was right, buuut, the Reflex 6 rotates in the opposite direction! So the Hammershot's rotation arm couldn't rotate it. In my attempts to modify the system to work I basically destroyed my Hammershot. Fun times! I mean, it's really on me for destroying it but still, great advice Cap.

I know sometimes you dont like taking the AR out of certain blasters. Is this one of such blaster models?

What do I do? Like is the new Hammershot different from the older one? I have ordered the reskinned “Splatter” and I cannot tell if it is different from this one

I've seen you mention some differences in other videos, like the front bit of the rotation axle, and the hammer and trigger assembly. But how much of a difference is between those? Hi captain, I recently got a fresh hammershot off of amazon (my first hammershot as well) and for some reason everything works fine but when i load darts into the cylinder and fire, the gun makes a loud sound and the dart stays in the cylinder and when it does fire, it only travels a few feet. Any suggestions?
A problem I keep having with my hammer shot is that when I prime it it doesn’t catch it . Is there any way I can fix this? Also thanks for the modding info!

I really love this series. I’ve never had a NIB Hammershot, they have all been thrift finds. Now as none of them have a smooth hammer return. Guess I need to open them up and improve the air seals. Any suggestions on what o-ring to use for replacement?
It is probably not the o-ring. 8mIt is more likely that the foam gasket between the cylinder and the plunger tube is wearing out. It can be replaced with craft foam...which I happen to know you have access to. ;)
@@CaptainXavier, oh No Sir, that is Melissa’s craft foam. One would not dare use that with out express written permission. Least they loose a digit or whole limb. But yes I can acquire some, and thank you for the heads up
After finding out my hammer shot had its foam seal removed, I’ve been trying to find some place to get a replacement foam seal, thought this might be the best place to comment this so, any help?
"Hold a prime"? As in when you pull back the hammer it does not catch? If so my guess would be there is an issue with the catch. Open the blaster and try priming it and see what is not catching.
@@CaptainXavier I need to remove the ar for cylinder upgrade I have a dead space remover but couldn’t figure out how to get the end cap of the plunger tube

That same trigger spring trick ,is what I do for those pesky dart "tooth" spring things. Bangarang

Yes, do NOT take the AR out of a Hammershot. It does not help and can, in fact, ruin it.

They are 95% the same. The cylinders are even interchangeable.
Thinking about painting my hammershot so this will definitely be useful, this should be the same for the grey trigger version too right?

I do not, no. Most of the older ones are solvent welded together.

That will happen. Replace it. Either with a slice of Mega dart foam, a ring of craft foam, or a rubber gasket
Hey, Cap. Do you know how to put a Zuru X-shot 6 round cylinder in a hammer shot and still have it rotate properly?
The key part is replacing the rotation mech with one that rotates 1/6th instead of 1/5th.

I have never had that issue. At least not enough to notice. I would try some lubrication.

You can either make a seal using thin craft foam or cut a slice off the end of a Mega Dart.

I do not. Best option would be to pull one from another blaster. I keep a bin of springs I pull from dead blasters for things like this.
