for anyone wondering about the game with japanese in the title. it says: 式神の城 (shikigami no shiro) roughly translated to "castle of shikigami"
TY!!
Thank yooooouuuuu
Man u where reading my mind! I thought someones gotta ask it in the comments section and booyahhh!!
A complete translation is Castle of God Ceremony
Wow i came here specifically for this and it was the top comment haha
One game I definitely don't hear too many people talk about was "The Suffering" very creepy open world shooter/horror survivor. You a play a prison inmate named torque and you're stuck on an island kind of like alcatraz. The island is being overrun by all the tortured inmate souls of the past and almost everyone is dead. Check it out if you haven't already man its really good.
Great game 👍
I used to always play that game and it would give me nightmares and freak me out 😂 still one of my favroite horror shooter games and defeintly a good one at that
The Suffering is also on PC.
@@houseofmeditation8945 yup
My dad absolutely loved this series! I use to watch him play when I was a kid and it always gave me nightmares
The original Xbox was such a well designed console. MS really put a lot of thought and work into the design. Those damn things were built like tanks and worked for years with no problems. They pursued a lot of developers and got a lot of great software as well. Some of my best gaming experiences were on that console.
Ninja Gaiden... =)
@@pinkdragon6136 Found Ninja Gaiden late but it's amazing. Have to go back to it and still finish it.
hm not quite, they red ringed as often as the 360. Still a great system though.
Splozy ... Lol, they really didn't. Look up the stats, there is a reason why the rrod on the 360 was a big deal
@@robertt9342 maybe it was a pal region thing but the OG xbox RROD'd really often here. Personally I only had one 360 RROD and two OG's RROD, similar for other people around me. If you could link the stats though that would be great Robert.
I just bought 3 games he mentioned out of curiosity. I'm glad he gave an honorable mention to Darkwatch. Great game. My only 2 additions would be Sudeki, and Metal Arms.
No chance you read this but I just found you… about 2 months ago. And now I bought a OG Xbox and a bunch of games. I’m a 31 sales dude with a 35 year old lawyer brother…. Now we’re playing 11 year old memories while our wives are out! thanks to you!!!
Finally somebody recognized Jade Empire, I've been waiting for a sequel for years..
its not happening, will never be,I just finish play that game not 5 min ago pc version,I feel bad that I did not know that exist neat story and very fun
It's still talked about by PC gamers, but I had no idea there was an Xbox version and I doubt many people do. I also didn't know Arx Fatalis was available too, they really had some great console ports of PC RPG's.
The Fat Turtle yeah that game was exclusive for Xbox for awhile
I know! I'm glad someone mentioned it. I thought I was the only one who loved it.
A fantastic game, alongside with Knights of the Old Republic
Sudeki is a pretty good hidden gem in my opinion. Loved the inclusion of Breakdown and Indigo Prophecy at the end!
Oh man, Breakdown! I remember reading about it in OXM, and the reviewers were absolutely raving about it. Never saw it in stores, but I loved the demo!
Are you referring to the racing/combat game: Cel Damage?
How much is arx fatailis for the original Xbox
Sudeki was also a good rpg, also the princess was on the cover of maxim magazine just like blood rayne
you can't forget Toe Jam & Earl III, that one was FANTASTIC in my opinion, and also hilarious. Earl is one of my all time favorite characters in any video game series.
Arx Fatalis was also a PC game. It was originally supposed to be Ultima Underworld III but the makers couldn't get the license. Great game!
dude, i really love all the content you jam pack in these videos. there's never a dull moment.
Call of Cthulhu was massively underrated and genuinely gave you a sense of urgency and helplessness, as you spend quite a bit of the first half of the game without any weapons at all, relying completely on stealth hiding places to advance the story. I sorta felt like the east access to weapons in the second half sort of lessened the suspense and genuine scariness, but it's still very worth checking out!
What about Brute Force!!!
i loved that game!
Fuck yeah! I wish I could upvote this comment more lol.
Not exactly hidden
You were holding Advent Rising when you mentioned honorable mentions, but it wasn't included in the pile. Props for including it at all, I LOVE that game!
Still weird theres a villain named Barrakka Bahma...
Awesome Video Metal Jesus,You really hit home with all of these titles.:)
Is it wrong that the only game ive played out of all of these is barbie horse adventures
That's straight up blasphemy.
I actually loved that game on the wii
There is no shame in that.
A game that no has heard of and is one of the best games on the system is voodoo vince.
every collector knows what voodoo Vince
Announced a few hours ago: Voodoo Vince is being remastered.
I almost bought it last year
I remember that game didn't buy it though 👍
I remember playing Voodoo Vince on a demo disk. I still have it actually, it's disk #23. I always regretted not getting a copy of it. But another game that was also on that demo disk, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, is a hidden gem that happens to be one of my favorites of all time.
Thank you for the Crimson Sky hit at the end. That game consumed me. I loved the missions and it felt so much like I was the controlling element (until yo get in the balloon). Metal Jesus...Rocks.
Great video. Love the barbie horse adventure at the end lol
i was waiting for JSRF :(
jet set radio future and sega gt 2002 were bundled with new xboxs for a while so alot of people know about jet set radio future
Me too.
Was kinda disappointed that Raze's Hell wasn't there :c
700julius I knew I wasn't the only one!!
Collin Fiechuk Well this is kinda old comment but the game is amazing :P
+700julius is hard to find I got it new for dirt cheap
+700julius Holy fuck that was a good game. I still have it.
ive never heard of this one googling now!
This is of my favourite channels on YT and the OG Xbox is one of my favourite consoles as well. I play with even today, and the games you reviewed are great man.
Great channel as always, MetalJesus. I very much enjoy your content.
I loved all those games and still have the majority of them in my collection. I was hoping for a long time that Bioware would pick up with Jade Empire again. It wasn't as stellar as KotOR but it was a great starting point for a franchise. Something to build off of. Sadly a sequel will probably never happen.
Dreamfall the longest journey and indigo prophecy were some of my favorite hidden gems.
these games weren't hidden gems at all. everyone played them back in the day.
Great video as always, keep up the good work man.Rock on!
Thanks for the info video M.J.
I got Gun Valkyrie, and am loving it. Arx Fatalis and Yager too, they're aren't that expensive and are well worth even more than they sell for!
The suffering! One of my alltime favourites for the classic xbox, and a near perfect horror game :)
not exactly a hidden gem...
I think it was pretty popular
Destroy All Humans was one of my top favorites.
Great Hidden Gems ty,, have and love Otogi ,Panzer Dragoon Orta and GunValkyrie ,,,,
looking to get some more on your list , just found a local store that has alot of Preowned Xbox games , i couldn't look then so i cant wait to get back thier and see what treasures they have :)
Really like the music you did at the end
Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders & Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes maybe? I love those games!
I agree those games are golden and extremely fun
Crimson Skies is a pretty good Xbox game, not sure if its an exclusive though. Best flying game I've ever played.
Crimson Skies also came out on the PC... but no other consoles.
MetalJesusRocks Crimson Skies is one of the ultimate FASA games, but Microsoft kicked but one by one his magnificent developers and trird partys in Xbox 360s generation. I hate this new form of business today
Crimson Skies is a PC exclusive. The sequel, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge is an Xbox exclusive (and one of the best games for the system)
@@johnythefox100 This is the correction I was looking for. They are different games. The first game on PC has a first person mode and was made by Zipper Interactive.
5:25 make me remember the music parodies on the Console Wars channel,so awesome!
Wow that water in Yager looks amazing for the specs of the original Xbox!
both kingdom under fire games ("the crusaders" was the first one i think, don't know the name of the 2nd) on the original xbox are great. hack and slash with strategy and RPG elements. its a bit like dynasty warriors or N3 at the first look, but you atually command your troops, level them up, watch them fight,... graphics aren't bad at all (facial animations and lipsynch are awful, and textures are low res), and the soundtrack, well...it's some kind of metal, so you'll probably enjoy it ;)
During the honorable mentions, what's the game after ninja gaiden / underneath dark watch. The one with the anime like cover. Thanks in advance
+Jonathan Gutierrez Shikigami no Shiro
Good call on Yaegar and nice honorable mention for Crimson Skies. My own hidden gem would be Battle Engine Aquila.
Some awesome games in here! I still have my copies of Republic Commando and Stubbs they are amazing games that got so unfairly overlooked back in the day. Also the soundtrack to Stubbs is beyond awesome I still have it in regular rotation on my ipod :) I dont know if you ever played it but The Punisher for the Xbox and Ps2 was another game that got overlooked but I taught it was a lot of fun and it still holds up today :)
jet set radio future should have been here
That's not a hidden gem.
sure it is the game never gets the love it deserves
CAUS31MSM4LL It has an HD port with trophy support on PS3, must I say more? You don't see Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon or Otogi getting that treatment.
Kullen64 are you sure you are referring to jet set radio or jet set radio future? Both are entirely different games (JSRF is the sequel) and I have not seen an HD remake anywhere for JSRF
Matt Mcentire Well pardon me if I'm wrong. But my point still stands. The series all together has a fair amount of recognition.

Ininja, Blinx: Time Sweeper, JSRF?
OMG...Jade Empire was so bad ass!!
Awesome that you mentioned Call of Cthulhu, i played it on the PC and its one of my favourite games of all time :)

. Narc (for its ridiculous power ups )
. Crazy Taxi III
. Second Sight (amazing underrated gem)
. Def Jam : Fight for NY
(A surprisingly well built fighting game with tons of customisation options)
I have worms forts, I really didn't like it... I thought Worms 2 on the computer was amazing though. Flinging yourself across the map to drop TNT on someone then flying as far away as possible to protect yourself
I've never heard of anyone else playing Malice until right now
you totally forgot Psychonauts man
I know this is one of your older videos, but I've just watched it for the first time. One of the old Xbox games that I liked to play with my son was Brute Force. We played it many times and we always enjoyed it.
yup that game is great it was a bit well known I think among xbox gamers
Seems like those honorable mentions warranted another dedicated video

Shikigami no Shiro
Got my first Xbox with The Chronicles of Riddick to start a new collection. As always your vids helps a lot.
what great insight! I remember my mom buying me the xbox when it was released. I sold it many years ago in a yard sale. but today I came across one for 10 bucks at a thrift store. I couldn't pass it up, and now I will hunt down all these games you mentioned.
Morrowind was probably the best game ever on the Xbox
I totally agree
Walter White yeah but not a forgotten gem at all to be honest and neither was conker live and reloaded
nahh it was good but
on pc its better and also now halo 2 is probably the best game actually on the og xbox
LOVE THAT GAME. But not a hidden gem.
Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
JSRF
Raze's Hell
Sudeki
Amped
Star Wars: Obi Wan
Amped isn't hidden and it's pretty easy to find. Same with Riddick.
Some amazing games here, nice to see some love for Stubbs!
SO interesting that I came across your video completely at random, bc just today I set up my old Xbox, & have been on Amazon for some time now, collecting over 30 games thus far, one of which is thanks to you: "Stubbs The Zombie".
Great video, thanks!
-J
STUBBS THE ZOMBIE YES I LOVE THAT GAME
Where is:
1- Sudeki
2- Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge
3- Van Helsing
4- Galleon
5- Phantom Crash
6- Kill All Humans
He gave honorable mention to Crimson Skies. Destroy all humans was a damn good game too
+Afonso Virtuosa He also gave an honorable mention to Galleon.
High Noon crimson Sky's is in his main buying guide
Van Helsing isn't a hidden gem but the game is rather fun. So happy he gave Breakdown a mention though.
Yes, I love Van Helsing it's so much like Castlevania. Except with guns and swords.
Could you please make another xbox gems video??? I looked into quite a few of the games you mentioned and they have all been stellar. You seem like a really down to earth guy and I love watching your channel. Thanks man.
I loved Stubbs the Zombie! I really do remember playing the demo over and over again from when I got the disks that Xbox sent out with their magazine! Heck I later on even bought the game back when Gamestop was ruling off their Original Xbox games! Awesome!
I love Stubbs the Zombie
why tease advent rising and not give it props :( THE COMPANY PROMISED US A TRILOGY WE WILL NEVER GET!!!!! :( I love that game so much. Oooo Majesco how you will be forever missed.
Seriously i wish they would finish that series
Advent Rising was a fantastic game that suffers from random framerate drops and slowdown, As well ,it also came out 6 months before the Xbox 360 launch so that wasn't helping much either.
Great set of Reviews Metal!
Thanks great vid. Gonna start collecting soon, this is a good starting point.
Jet Set Radio Future, Phantom Dust, Tenchu, and Fatal Frame 2 would be my additions to this list. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is also a really awesome game, but it was kinda high profile and not really "hidden". Definitely a gem though.
Yes, Jest Set Radio Future. Spiritual sequel to the Jet Grind Radio on the Dreamcast. I was surprised that the music is equally as good as the original. And the real positive is the smoother better controls!!!! And yes, Fatal Frame 2 .... Nice!
I second JSRF and Phantom Dust. Phantom Crash (not related to Phantom Dust) is another excellent game.
Phantom Dust was in Honorable Mentions
solitarylonewolf Nice games! What about Psychonauts?
I've never played Psychonauts, sorry. I didn't really dig the art style. Was it fun at least?
Oh, and Sudeki. Fun game, fun game only bad part is the final boss and the anti-climatic ending.
Cold Fear to me was definitely a great game for Xbox gives an eerie feel with both musical composition and tight quarter navigation with nasty's popping out of every corner.
Oh, how the ending made me laugh. After having found a minority of my previously played and beloved Xbox games, I've recently re-bought an Xbox with the desire to re-live many of those great memories, as well as potentially expand and buy some Xbox games that I never got to look into back in the day - there are some particularly great looking games on this list, definitely worth a try and add to my collection. Though the ones I played and really liked were all pretty much shown at the end of the video as the Honorable Mentions - Breakdown, Conker: Live and reloaded, Morrowind, Shenmue II. Though I also remember games like Time Splitters: Future Perfect and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy being quite addictive games, but I understand these were not games entirely devoted to the Xbox as they were released on the other mainstream consoles at the time as well. Never the less, great list, it's really given me ideas for re-building on my collection, great work :)
Why are you called Metal Jesus?
Because he has long hair like jesus and listens to metal music
He's made of metal n his name is Jesus
He’s made of jesus and looks like metal
Phantom Dust
GoldenGoose GG phantom dust is the best game on Xbox!
REALLY?
I have it now for PC :3 been playing it since I read the comment haha THANX!
LOL, love the ending! Subscribed!
OMG, i've been trying to find the name of Stubbs the Zombie for years!! Thank you MetalJesus
Where was Kung fu chaos
Quantum Redshift anyone? No? Okay :c
Great Video, Can You Do Top 10 Favorite Game Boy Color Games
Both Otogi's were awesome. I loved Republic Commando, got it for PC as well. Daughter loves Stubbs the Zombie, got the soundtrack as well!
dude??? No Sudeki???
Kudos mate, I thought the same thing!
+Ian Parker Ikr
I am hoping Sudeki becomes backwards compatible with the XboxOne.
Brute Force.
OMG Stubbs! i loved that game! the soundtrack and upbeat characters just wrapped this game game!
Love Stubbs the Zombie it has an amazing 1950's re-imagined soundtrack as well. Played it originally on PC, but own both. I also enjoy Gun Valkyrie & Panzer Dragoon.
Gem recommendation: Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes (xbox exclusive), I don't think it's rare since it typically goes for $10 complete. Long story short it plays very similar to the Diablo series (or a much more complex Gauntlet) & it's up to 4 player co-op.
Was blinx 1/2 well known?
I love the Blinx games :D
Satanic Dogfish I really wish I could get an xbox again to play them x.x
VictinisClaw I play 2 on the 360, but I can't remember if 1 works on it as well.
Satanic Dogfish Nice I have a 360 if I can get it as well it would be nice
Jet Set Radio Future?
one of my favorites!
Nice! Breakdown is mentioned. That was an excellent game, but had a misleading difficulty setting. I had to turn it down to easy because it was tough even on normal difficulty.
The games I probably played the most on my original Xbox which wasn't a Halo game were Jade Empire, Sudeki, Voodoo Vince and Fusion Frenzy.
That last part was a bit creepy :-/
If i would ever rob anybody it would probably be this guy. Id let you keep the guitars and stuff though since you a cool dude... :)
What a bizzare comment
sudeki was a nice game dont know if it was on other consoles but that was one of the few i really liked on xbox
Awesome, thanks for the info...I'm getting back into my (original) XBox, recently!
Yo uforgot to mention jet set radio future.
no Jet Set Radio Future?
+Go Ku It was bundled with the console so it's not exactly a hidden gem.
One of the coolest videos for Original Ecs Byyyks, but still many of those need to be ported on Xbox One
Ahhhh, REpublic Commandos.
I remember that Ghost Ship level.
In fact I still have it!
Was so boss :c
Sudeki
...Wh-What? Republic Commando isn't a hidden gem. It's an incredibly popular game.
not really. it's totally slept on.
Oh man, this video brings back great memories. The original xbox was the console that finally got me hooked into video games and turned me into a full fledged game. I always had an appreciation for games, enjoying stuff on PC, Sega Genesis/CD, N64, PS1, Game Boy, Game Gear, etc., but there was a combination of my teenage years and the fact that this was the first console I ever owned that didn't just belong to my brother.
MJR brings up some great selections. Some of my favorite unknowns were stuff like Voodoo Vince, Blinx the Time Sweeper, Raze's Hell, Advent Rising, Phantom Dust, Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance, Malice, Tork, Unreal Championship, Metal Arms, Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge, XIII, Amped, Aggressive Inline, Deathrow, Sudeki, Dai Senryaku, Otogi, Panzer Dragoon Orta, etc.
Fuck, there were so many good ones. I really do need to get back an original xbox as I still have my old library of games.
Great list man. Just got a wave of nostalgia. I totally agree with Jade Empire, one of best forgotten games, not only game after KOTOR, but before Mass Effect. One of my favorite games of all time. Unique game, Chinese mythology was such a cool choice. Loved real time combat as opposed to kotor’s, and I dug the story at the time but love to replay it in backwards compatibility
