5인조 K-Rock Girl Band 롤링쿼츠 (Rolling Quartz)가 심상치 않다.
인디씬에서 철없이 메탈 길만 걸으려 하던 소녀들(?)에 대한 예상도 기대도 없었던 탈홍대급 파장은 해외에서 시작되었다. 어느 날부터인가 각종 SNS 계정들과 유튜브 계정에 외국어 댓글이 달리기 시작했고 홍대로 밴드 공연 보러 다니는 사람들의 머릿수로는 해석이 불가능한 숫자인 트워터 20,000여 명의 팔로워 및 유튜브 30,000명 이상의 구독자들이 생겨났다. 영어로 댓글이 달리기 시작하더니 러시아어, 스페인어 등등… 이제는 번역기를 돌려야 한다. 케이팝 그룹들에게나 벌어지는 일들이 아직 정식 데뷔도 하지 않은 홍대 인디씬의 한 걸밴드 ‘롤링쿼츠 (Rolling Quartz)’에게 일어났다.
굳이 공식 데뷔라는 표현을 써가며 음반을 내는 이유는 이들의 강력한 팬덤인 Diadem의 요청 때문이기도 하고 이제부터 더 많은 사람들에게 찾아가기 위한 출발 점을 표시하기 위함이기도 하다.
2021년 앞만 보고 달려 나가겠다는 마음을 담은 데뷔곡 ‘블레이즈 (Blaze)’로 롤링쿼츠 (Rolling Quartz)가 불꽃같이 감히 세계인들에게 다가간다.

This is my own opinion, but I like to think that they are the Queens that aren't afraid to proudly wear/carry their diadems (fans) as their favorite thing. Maybe Diadems are first on their minds?! Might be far fetched but I like how it sounded in my mind. Haha

알고리즘 타고 전주 처음 들었을 때 한국 여성 그룹 아닌 줄 알았다. 그런데 듣다 보니 귀에 익은 한국어 가사. K-POP이 널리 알려졌지만 특정 연령대 특정 장르의 음악에 국한된 면이 있어 아쉬웠는데 이 그룹은 한동안 접하지 못했던 락 그것도 여성밴드이다. 여성스러움이 느껴지는 보컬이지만 가끔은 묵직한 한방을 가지고 있는 보컬하며 기타 드럼 다 좋다. 요즈음은 발매 몇 년 후에 역주행하는 경우도 있기에 언제인가는 보다 널리 알려지는 날이 있으리라 기대한다.

FINALLY! These girls might just be the "IT kgrrrls" that South Korea desperately need, they just don't know it yet, for both krock and kmusic at large. There's some serious potential here. Play their cards right, give 'em their space and support so that they'd bring some fight to Japan's Band Maid and/or Lovebites down the road.

The riff & licks sound potentially heavy as fuck... yet they are being played through what appears to be standard Fenders, & ones not driven very much at that. I don't know why they chose Fender (perhaps an endorsement?), but if they insist on them at least go with a say Jim Root signature model, something built with grit in mind & for God's sake, TURN UP THE GAIN!
Then, & maybe only then, will they be able to compete with the Maids.
