None of those "cons" were that way to me, fortunately. I live in rural northern CA with some of the most high priced real estate so home prices in Prescott were no sticker shock. Same with wildfires....we live with those around here constantly, plus tons of wildlife like bears, coyotes, mountain lions, rattlesnakes and more. I'm retired and if the sidewalks roll up early, no problem! I am looking to relocate next year and seriously considering this area. Thank you for the great, informative video. Loved it!
All I can say is I've got neighbors who are polar opposites when it comes to politics. We all get along, help one another out, and have some great, neighbrhood parties. Of course, I can't speak for the entire city, but we choose to put friendship above disagreement.
Good video! Some of those cons were pros, except the cost of living (with related cost of homes), and wildfires. Wildlife is mostly good tho I'm not wanting to encounter a rattler! Are there scorpions up there like they have down by Phx?
Thanks so much! I've been told that are scorpions here, but in 20 years I've never seen one. I had a client that told me he found a dead one when cleaning out his basement. Either they are not numerous or they stay hidden...! You're right - having a "small town" vibe can definitely be a "pro."
Beautiful place, been going up there for years. Cons, Be prepared for 1 political party, what used to be a fun frontier parade celebrating the historic rodeo/ 4th of July, has turned into a political parade, very few groups except politicians. Very expensive housing, in Prescott, no jobs. Your other option is Prescott Valley, which has some nice parts, but some is very poor and drug infested. Fun time getting to Phoenix / airport with the one highway often closed due to vehicle wrecks and wild fires.
Very interesting video. Thank you for putting it together. I liked and subscribed. One suggestion -- less of your face time and more of Prescott scenery. You are, after all, selling the real estate. Lastly, do you have a link to the Fire Wise grants you mentioned? Thanks - Scott
Many thanks! Here's a link to the Yavapai County Firewise page. You'll find a list of the area Firewise neighborhoods as well as info regarding the grant reimbursement process.
Are teachers in demand in Prescott? I'm a certified teacher looking to move to Prescott...is there a chance I'd be able to find employment as a teacher?
I know there are some local teaching positions posted, but I don't know the details. Here's a link to the PUSD employment page: www.prescottschools.com/employment . There's also BASIS and Northpoint Academy - definitely worth a phone call. Let me know if you find something, and good luck!

Very informative. Thank you Ered!
My pleasure!
I especially liked how you sort of glazed over the political issues; as in, "if you're tolerant of other views..." That was spot on.

If you’re not an extremist conservative, you’re going to feel very uncomfortable here. Try to find some liberal friends and you’ll be in for a shock.
more videos of the area, less of you just talkimg
Working on it! Right now, I am a one-man production crew - writing, shooting, editing, etc. so doing the best I can with what I've got!
Con: men in dresses 🤣
Now that's funny...! 🤣
