The New 52 character has control over what happens when he says the magic word, so he can intorduce himslef wihtout changing, unlike pre-New 52 versions of Captain Marvel, Jr.
"He," if you mean the pre-New 52 character, is still called "Captain Marvel." DC has not changed his name in any reprints, and there is a version of the character on Earth-5 in the Multiverse that appears about once a year in some special issue or team-up. Only the New 52 version is called "Shazam," and while he is less different than say, Hal Jordan is to Alan Scott, he is more different than the Earth-1 and Earth2 Supermen, so I consider them different characters. This video mostly acknowledges that separation.
I have been reading the public domain Captain Marvel comics, and I have to say, Mr. Mind quickly become my favorite villain. He is so cute and so sadistic at the same time. The Mind Kampf, the university of evil, his evil plan to cause ww3, I love how evil he is.
Imagine it like different guitar variants have differen effects. like banjo is spped for self, heavy metal is damage, jazz is stealth, and electric/dubstep/trap is lingering effect
I just noticed how similar that Captain Nazi is to that of Marvel's Captain America. Though technically now with how the Red Skull and the Cosmic Cube had altered Steve Rogers past, Captain America is definitely quite a lot like Captain Nazi.
1. Black Adam 2. Doctor Sivana 3. Mister Mind 4. The Seven Deadly Enemies Of Man 5. Lady Blaze 6. Monster Society of Evil 7. Sabbac 8. Lord Satannus 9. King Kull 10. Captain Nazi
Captain marvel/ Shazam's villains may not be iconic or awesome but there are a few that can definately be used to create great shazam comics other than black adam. Hell with just 7 out the 10, 2 being honorable mentions, i would write a good, enjoyable shazam comic.
My top 10 would be : 1. Black Adam 2. Doctor Sivana 3. Mister Mind 4. Seven Deadly Enemies of Man 5. Sabbac 6. King Kull 7. Blaze & Satanus 8. Crocodile-Man 9. Captain Nazi 10. Jeeper
Shazam had a lot of rogues over the years, a huge list, mostly due to the original publishers having him face a constant line of fairly hokey one-shots. It was only in more recent years when DC put him in his own book that the threats became more serious and more consistent
I gotta say that I am a BIG FAN of the "SHAZAM" comic book franchise. I also feel that the name of "Captain Marvel" belongs in the franchise instead of the character from the Marvel Comics Universe. But I know that it is too late for that anyway. Other than that, I would like to see a TV revival of the "SHAZAM" series from the 1970's because I would like to be a combination of both moral themes and adventure with the characters from the comic book as well. As for the villain of "Dr. Sivana," I think actor Armin Shimerman of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" would be perfect because he can be funny in that role as well.
I seriously need to learn more about these villains that Captain Marvel has. I really only largely know of 5 of these guys; being Captain Nazi, Mr. Mind, Doctor Sivana, Seven Deadly Enemies of Man, and Black Adam. I'm definitely very interested in that demon guy and King Kull Captain Marvel, Powers & Abilities. • Wisdom of Solomon (Jewish King from the Bible) • Strength of Hercules (Greek Demi-God) • Stamina of Atlas (Greek Titan) • Power of Zeus (Greek God) • Courage of Achilles (Greek Demi-God) • Speed of Mercury (Roman God) • Strength of S'ivaa (Dancer of Destruction) • Fires of H'ronmeer (Martian God of Fire, Art, and Death) • Compassion of Anapel (Goddess of Reincarnation and Birth) • Source Manipulation of Zonuz (Father of Darkseid, Yuga Khan) • Boldness of Ate (Goddess of Impulse) • Lightning of Mamaragan (The Wizard, Shazam)
My Personal List for Top 10 Shazam Villains: 10.) Black Alice 9.) Sabina 8.) Arson Fiend 7.) Sabbac 6.) Lady Blaze 5.) Lord Satanus 4.) Mr. Mind 3.) The Seven Deadly Sins 2.) Dr. Sivana 1.) Black Adam Honorable Mentions: King Kull

I have a big problem with Osiris here he I could be wrong but he never was billy villain he was Freddy villain Billy was no longer Shazam when Osiris was revive if I remember correctly Heck before the new52 Osiris was the only marvel left if I recall he trick Freddy and stole his powers
Mine is top 5 (I've barley read any Captain marvel 5.mary marvel (when she turns evil in final crisis) 4.Captain Nazi 3.Dr Savona 2.the seven deadly sins 1.Black Adam
Hate that Black Adam has been dubbed CM's chief villain in modern times... it would be like if DC Comics' Powers That Be decided that General Zod and Bane were Supes' and Bats' arch-nemesis from now on. That being said, I like the New 52 origin, wherein rather than Black Adam being a bad choice on Shazam's part, it was the Egyptian champion's evil uncle -- a la Billy Batson's Uncle Ebenezer -- who became Black Adam. It makes for an interesting twist on Cap's own origin.
@@astrocitizen yikes did you just say that Bane isn't an intellectual challenge? He is the person responsible for the whole Knightfall story arc and figured out Batman's secret identity. He's a much more interesting for than Joker imo
Personally, I think villians like these give Shazam's stories a sense of wonder and fun...which is why I'm kind of wary about how the DC cinematic universe is going to handle the character given the tone of their movies so far. A Shazam movie would only work if it's written like a Pixar movie.
Red Bullet Like a Pixar movie is pushing that idea too far, I can see them doing it well since it is moving towards a more friendly tone. The Flash solo will be extremely important to see how they will run the Shazam solo film (not talking about the black Adam movie). It could be the guardians of the galaxy for D.C., funny, not taking itself too seriously but still WORLD BUILDING
I will never get used to him being called "Shazam".
I know for me it will always be CAPTAIN MARVEL sorry marvel but Billy Batson was first.
fvillag1 Yeah, my too. Shazam's the name of the wizard. Although I get why they changed it, it just feels wrong to me after decades of being his fan.
Christine Smith glad you agree so tell the world Billy Batson is CAPTAIN MARVEL not Carol Danvers from marvel.

Mr mind is no joke
Now I want to know how the banjo guys powers work
Imagine it like different guitar variants have differen effects. like banjo is spped for self, heavy metal is damage, jazz is stealth, and electric/dubstep/trap is lingering effect
This is how I look at it: Captain Marvel is the character, "Shazam" is the whole franchise.
I love these videos of rogue gallerys please do more!!!
I remember reading the graphic novel done by the creator of Bone and it's what made me fall in love with the character. gotta read other Shazam stuff.
Wow, I thought Spider-Man had some kooky villains in his rogues gallery...
This list is basically:

Can we please get a Captain Nazi movie 😆
I’m calling it
1.black Adam
Shazam has villains?
No He's Just A Guy With Powers Who Flies Around And Does Absolutely Nothing,Ofcourse He Does What Kind Of Question Is That?

By Bane you meant Ra's Al Ghul right?
No. By Bane I meant Bane, someone whose main threat to the hero is as an equal physical opponent rather than an intellectual one.
@@astrocitizen yikes did you just say that Bane isn't an intellectual challenge? He is the person responsible for the whole Knightfall story arc and figured out Batman's secret identity. He's a much more interesting for than Joker imo
@@wowisntitanamazinglyamazin9550 Yes, he was the mastermind behind Knightfalll... and no other plotlines of note since then.
Poor Billy doesn't have very interesting villains.
Hahah Cos supes took em all
Most of his villains were made during the golden age. Back then they were pretty interesting compared to other villains of the time

Captain Nazi would work better as a captain America villain I think
But he's not a captain America is not a DC character
Why?
@@markuscriticus8278 Because Captain Nazi.
"Boe-shi-a"? It's pronounced "Beauty-a". Doctor Sivana was not very imaginative at naming his kids.
OSIRIS over IBAC please
Ibac is better than honorable mention.
all of his villains are either cliches or nonsensical..or both
Being as most of them were created in the 1940's, they set the cliche. As for nonsensical, what do you want? It's a comic book!
top 4-1 all are pretty cool villain try to watch some of the movies too
@Luc Germain I honestly don't remember being dumb enough to post this
Solomon isn't a god
That's why he said "Gods and Champions".
+TheAmazingMisterZ plus hercules is half god half human
Thanks for the clarification. I misheard. My bad. carry on.
Captain Nazi movie ASAP
second
Now this is confusing.
Shazam has the worst villains
Black Adam, the seven deadly sins, dr sivana and Mr mind are good enough tbh
