Ash catches a Muk! Not that it'll do him much good seeing as even he seems to forget he has other Pokemon besides Pikachu (1:03) ...
This episode is another example of 90's style environmentalism that used to be all over kids shows back in the day.

0:17 - that dramatic music gives me nightmares as a kid if I'm watching this (example: I was standing on the light from my kitchen next to my room and I'm looking at the darkness from the living room, i feel or it makes me very terrifying/scared) 😰 like seriously

Product of 90's environmentalism though it may be, that cityscape is still unsettling in the context of cities like Beijing and New Delhi.

Totally! My point of "90's environmentalism" was less about the message, and more about this sort of once-common episode structure.
I do want to make one point of criticism though: Beijing has 20M permanent residents (with 12M more in the metropolitan area around it) , and Delhi is even bigger, with a population of 27M people. The pollution stemming from these places is a direct function of the number of people living there, and not how green any of those individual people actually are.
Beijing has an estimated Carbon Footprint per Capita of 4.2 t and Delhi a footprint of 2.6 t, compare that to New York City's per capita footprint of 17.1 t or Los Angeles's per capita footprint of 14.6 t -- a very stark contrast.

@@SpeedBoostTorchic Yeah, I definitely didn't want my comment to be a judgment call on the people living there. Indeed, it's population density that makes it more visible, and even in North American cities which are less overtly smoggy, air pollution is still a deadly problem.

Is the Closed-Captioning new? Excellent for additional comedy (like Bardic Inspiration does).

Nope! I've done it for literally every episode. I was inspired by webcomic alt-text.
The CC's for Episodes 13, 16, and 24 seem to be the most popular.

After the episode ends, both Joy and Jenny make some half-hearted posts about the environment on social media, and call it a day. Jenny starts a change.org petition but doesn't promote it outside of her Discord group.
Despite both insisting something needs to be done, neither of them make take any steps whatsoever to minimize their own participation in the systems they criticize, reasoning that their individual contributions are meaningless anyway. In fact, Joy makes so many posts and memes about how meaningless doing anything is, she actually starts convincing other people who *WERE* doing something to *STOP* taking steps to control their carbon footprint.
Eventually, everything goes back to the status quo and both of them forget about that pack of 10-year-olds that swept through the town and preached at them about the air quality that one time.
      Better? :P
