This violinist Jill is so talented that she may be a world-class soloist for classical pieces. She has covered Dream Theater and Malmsteen songs on violin in videos by "Quadratum", The second unit of Unlucky Morpheus. I invite you to listen and watch her incredible superb performance on RUclips. I guarantee you will be blown away!
She graduated from one of Japan's top art universities. She majors in violin, so of course she has very high performance skills, but piano is a compulsory subject, so I think she probably has the same level of piano performance skills as miyako.
This song, Top of The "M", is the inaugural piece of the "M" trilogy. The "M" in its name stands for both Mahjong and Music. Not only is it filled to the brim with elements of Mahjong, a game that band leader Shiren loves, but it also conveys a strong intention to strive for the pinnacle of music. As a result, it's not only the composition and performance that are of high caliber, but the lyrics are also crafted with a high degree of skill and profound passion, giving the listener a multi-layered enjoyment. This song symbolises the commencement of the trilogy with a unique fusion of music and Mahjong. Furthermore, the song Top of the "M" has been humorously parodied as Top of the "麺" (pronounced "Men", meaning "Noodle"), adding a whole new level of fun to the dynamic performance. Watching this video, you'll be struck by the sight of Jill, the violinist, jumping up and down in pure joy. It's also worth noting that at this event, sponsored by Nissin Foods, everyone in the audience was given a U.F.O., the most popular instant yakisoba noodles in Japan. Please bear this in mind when watching the video. ruclips.net/video/2wirMuMK7Ko/видео.html This performance was part of the one-man live show "EVOLUTION & DIVERSITY" held at Zepp DiverCity in August 2022, and it was released as a Blu-ray & CD product on 8 March 2023. However, the parody song, Top of the "麺", was not included in the product. This song, which was proudly sung as "the tastiest noodle...in other words, the Top of the Noodle", can only be fully appreciated in this video. Please enjoy this unexpected and special song.
Individually, they are incredible musicians, and when performing together as a live band, their tightness and entertainment value are truly exceptional. I love going to see them live. They are so good‼︎🤘
Thank you for taking a listen to one of my favorite bands! Jill, the violinist, is one of my favorite musicians. She's been playing since she was three, says she can't remember a time where she wasn't playing, and has perfect pitch. I would listen to Jill play anything because she can play anything. She has her own channel where, on rare occasion, she does lives. I once watched her play through the "Unfinished" album and was amazed at how beautifully she plays. Plus she's cute! Shiren, the growler and occasional guitarist, started suffering from tenosynovitis, an inflammatory condition that affects the sheaths of one's tendons. It's an awful thing for a musician to deal with. He started showing symptoms in 2016, but before that, he was actually in the first version of Babymetal's backing band, the Kami Band. He only played one show backing Babymetal (the first show of "Live: Legend I, D, Z Apocalypse") and even then it was just two songs, but he was one of the first two Kamis on guitar. if you'd like to see more of this group, the live version of "Black Pentagram" is a great one. Fuki, the vocalist, lets loose with her impressive vocal power and the video shows off a bit of their goofy side. Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/RUiRlUGMTwY/видео.html That said, my favorite song from Ankimo (that's what the band usually calls themselves) is "Unending Sorceress." It's a masterpiece of neoclassical metal. Here's the link. ruclips.net/video/PCv3s0T4bx0/видео.html
After watching several of their videos multiple times, I would say Dignity of Spirit probably highlights all of their musicianship, so I would recommend it. Black Pentagram or Angriefer (which is German I believe) would be 2 and 3 :). Others might disagree, but really you can't go wrong with any of them :)
This band is awesome. They impress me with every their song. Every musician in the band is so cool, so professional! You need to watch their live performances. For me they are even better than music videos. And of course I suggest you their live video "Black Pentagram" with awesome long violin solo! Thank you for the reaction! More Unlucky Morpheus on the channel!
Thank you for your reaction! Unlucky morpheus is a very special band, their music includes speed metal, neo-classical, melodic death, metalcore and hard rock etc. This song is one of the 3 songs in the M series, The M series is their poppy style, but not their main genre, I recommend 《Black Pentagram》 live, 《angreifer》 live and 《phantom blood》 live as a reference, I recommend the live version because they can do it live even better than a studio.🤘🏻
Bob there are so many talented metal/rock bands in Japan but.......... Only 2 I have heard and I've been listening continuously now for years. Unlucky Morpheus and Lovebites are the top because of their songwriting talent and Jill and Fuki and Asami have the best voices ever..... I could go on
Jill on violin can play anything from van Helen’s eruption solo note for note - try their tribute of yngwie malmsteen far beyond the sun I know you’ll love it
@@bobcieslinski Far Beyond the Sun (Violin cover) ruclips.net/video/E2hZDzJp9Pc/видео.html . It's part of the UM 'side project' *Quadratum* . There is a LIVE performance of them doing Van Halen's Eruption ( *Jill* on violin), followed by a cover of The Dance of Eternity (Dream Theater), with Jill doing Jordan Rudess' keyboard parts. ruclips.net/video/XC2A1hbuLmI/видео.html Jill was a 'prodigy' violinist with a metal guitarist brother. She chose Metal instead of Classical. It's hard to grasp her true talent without checking out the Quadratum project. Bassist *Ogawa* jokingly calls Quadratum the _'Jill show-off Project'_
Congrats on finding Unlucky Morpheus-one of the best, most creative bands in the world today. They remain independent by choice, in order to retain complete artistic freedom. They started off in 2008, focused on making soundtracks to video games and anime. They went through a lot of different stylistic phases, but the big transformation was when they brought Jill (violin) on board. Like many Japanese bands, they sound incredibly clean and tight live. My top suggestion for a live clip: “Angreifer” ruclips.net/video/gGKWgM4IOgc/видео.html Meanwhile, amid the (justified) excitement over the Japanese all-female metal bands, we forget there are plenty of guys who throw down. Shiren, founder and one of the guitarists, also does the growls. Fumiya (Drums) is, as you saw, insane and inexhaustible-one of the best rock drummers in the world. Jinya (G) and Ogawa (B) are top-notch as well. Basically, this band is a technical monster. Fumiya and Ogawa also have interesting, “beast” personae which contrast with the “beauty” of Fuki and Jill. That contrast is a deliberate trope, similar to the “Beauty and the Beast” imagery of many European symphonic metal bands. Fuki (lead singer) is a legend in Japan, and one of the busiest artists anywhere. She is also lead singer for UM, Doll$boxx, Lightbringer and her own ongoing project, Fuki Commune. Her style is very much out of the Japanese classical tradition, with the oversold vibrato and intense high notes. She collaborates with a lot of the top musical talents in Japan. Jill (violin) also has a busy dance card, including collaborations with Fuki and others outside of UM. Jill is actually my favorite member of Unlucky Morpheus. I consider her the best rock/jazz/metal violinist in the world today, and probably the best since Jean-Luc Ponty. After Shiren (founder, original lead guitarist) started suffering from an injury that limits his playing, they rewrote a lot of his solos for Jill. Hard to come up with another violinist who could pull that off. Here are links to instrumentals featuring her in UM’s instrumental project Quadratum: Cover of van Halen "Eruption" ruclips.net/video/eTb0TQtVT6k/видео.html Cover of Malmsteen "Far Beyond the Sun" ruclips.net/video/E2hZDzJp9Pc/видео.html Cover of Dream Theater, played blindfolded: ruclips.net/video/8eZVVtaOBKk/видео.html I saw UM live in London in 2019, when they headlined Metal Matsuri. Great show, and the chemistry between Fuki and Jill was electric.
A top band for me. My list of Top Japanese bands is long. Jill, violin does a cover of Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption" guitar solo that will astound you!!!
Unlucky Morpheus is the best modern band (sorry, after Lovebites). I do not really understand why they so underestimated in Japan (not to mention abroad). They fit everything that the Japanese should care for in music and still haven't got so large fanbase. The last suggestion is that this music is so sofisticated that is not move the souls of masses. The similar issue is with Lovebites. Waggaki Band (my third favourite) seems more lucky, but still not as it should rightly be. May be the group should rename themselves to Lucky Morpheus to things change in positive direction.
My humble opinion, Fuki is the best female metal singer from Japan, bar none. Asami from Lovebites is great, but I feel Fuki is better. Fuki has vocal control that is out of the world. All the members of this band are Jedi level musicians.
