The heat must have been crushing the competitors. Everyone looks drenched in sweat and exhausted.
Watched this live on China national TV. It was mentioned there that their Olympics selection criteria will not be solely based on this competition and this world cup probably contributes only around 30% to the final decision.

Another unbelievably dramatic session! And shoutout to you guys for humorously mentioning how stoic Coach Yu was today. I noticed in the C&J session he was gone from the audience and replaced by a more enthusiastic chanter lol. But seriously, he probably had to go and start getting an athlete ready for the next session or something.
He's always fun to watch because he almost never shows any emotion, but when he does, he lights up like a little kid and gets totally opposite of his usual self.
David You are right about Chinese coach. Most emotion I’ve seen from him was at conclusion of 2019 worlds 81 kg men when Liu Xiajun made 2 extraordinary cl& jerks with an injured back to defeat a young Li Dayin. Ballsiest lifting I’ve ever seen.
In China Weibo, the China National Weightlifting Team reported on their page that Liang Xiao Mei's "unusual" performance in this world cup was because of an unexpected recurrence of an old injury that prevented her from giving her best.
Always sad to me how many openers are misses, but due to how clearly chaotic these events are behind the scenes, and how they make lifters take attempts back to back so much, clearly warming up is a problem, and the lack of rest between attempts is just ridiculous. And it's too obvious to be anything but intentional

26:35 Looked like she woulda ran it out but she went to the end of the platform and had to drop it. I don't know why the platform itself isn't bigger, or why it's on a raised platform when they're already lifting on a podium

Serious. I just caught it. When the Polish athlete saves her snatch, Seb refers to it as (Koleckiesque). He might have referred to it as Dolegaesque. Marcin was incredible at it doing 199 at 105 tho not as good as Kolecki in cl&jk.
Kinda sad watching the Polish woman come close but ultimately fail in her attempt for Paris. This once great weightlifting nation will be sending no athletes men or women to Paris. None of the men were in the top 20 let alone top 10. Even in 2016 they had guys who were contesting medals and 2012 they had gold medalist Zelenski at 85 and his brother bronze at 94 after all the drug busts. Hard to believe.

These juries are trolling with Koreans or what? I as a Korean feel annoyed by these brainless juries.
I really don't understand the purpose of the judges if the juries are going to get involved on practically every lift and potentially overrule what the judges say. The judges may as well not be there. These things need to be judged in real time not on slow motion replays zooming in on piffling little arm trembles.
