Giant Pandas- Nature’s greatest evolutionary paradox and conundrum. Animals that committed speciation’s most fatal sin; succumbing to the temptation of specialization by consuming only bamboo due to its immediate proximity and abundance. Unlike most of their relatives who remained or became omnivores, these bears are prone to rapid extinction being dependent on a plant for nutrient whose life cycle makes itself periodically absent. Pandas are a flame in the wind and widespread famine isn’t possible or probable but assured as the bamboo’s life cycle is assisted. Of the bears, only the Polar has gone fully specialist and we all know what’s happening to them. If the termites of India begin to be in abundance year round, the sloth bear will surely join the other two bears discussed here. The Panda does itself no favors in any way to assure its existence. It eats only one thing which provides it with minimal caloric value and minute nutriment and also that dies off in massive waves rendering the Panda starved for food. Only a quarter of the females can conceive and for only 3 days per year. The males fertility rate is one in ten and that ten percent aren’t particularly ardent lovers or even randy in any way , perhaps in part becuase of their wee willies. The females ditch one of the two cubs at birth and struggle to raise but one cub. Everything they stand for screams “please let me go extinct!” And yet, they have one of the very best survival strategies against extinction ever known, they are impossibly adorable to humans. And we will go to impossible lengths to keep them here with us on earth.

About the “dirty” part, I guess those “genius” panda fans think wild pandas and other wild animals “bath regularly” like humans and try to keep clean with soap and water. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
BTW, one of the wild male pandas they claim that services the females during mating season in the beginning of the documentary isn’t a wild panda at all.
