hello, there is a rule for macrame projects saying that you will need 8 times the length of the finished project for your cords. According to this rule you will need 6.4 m. You almost double the size (with the 4mm cord the tree length is: 17" - 43 cm without the star) you should go at least with the double cords length, 6 m min. So cut your cords 6.5m and keep in mind that is difficult to work with such long cords unless you are an experienced macrame maker. There is always the possibility to add cord when running out.

Yes, you begin with 2 cords 3m each, folded in half. Please see the description for the cords length and make the conversion to ft/inches, I am not familiar with these.
Find a wooden star and braided cord 4-5mm. Cut 2 cords x 3m to begin. Then for each pair of cords you can reduce the length by 20 cm. You will need 18 cords in total: 2 with 3m long 2 with 2.8m long next 2 with 2.6m 2 x 2.4m 2 x 2.2m 2 x 2m 2 x 1.8m 2 x 1.6m 2 x 1.4m Or you might want to keep the same length for all the cords. Go for it!

Sorry, I don't use single strand macrame string at all in my projects. I use woven and 3-strand rope. To prevent the ends of the 3ply from unraveling I use tape, glue, or knot :)

Can hardly see anything because camera is do near. I’m watching ar 0.25 speed but still can’t see how you do it because hands arę do close to the knot that the cover the most important moments.
I am sorry to hear that. The camera is at a fair distance and there are 2 knots used: square and double half hitch. If you have practice these two knots the pattern is easy to follow.
@@SaraS-sb9xl with the 4mm cord the tree length is: 17" - 43 cm the macrame part (no star included). I can't tell how smaller it would be if you use the 3mm.

Hello, you make a shorter tree by adding lesser cords and then you can shorten the cords because you will make lesser knots.

Braided cord its easier to use by a beginner than the single in my opinion. The single twisted tends to kink and the strands can separate:)
