Got mine yesterday...a whole lot more flexible than the tank...my vote is with Abby hands down. Congratulations on a great recovery...you could have just rolled over, but the RC mom saved the day. This is a pretty much hobby grade large buggy for under $100 that's gorgeous and fast... wish it had come with lights, but they'll get installed when I do a brushless upgrade (just try to do that with the tank! Lol). Thanks for a great channel, Saylors!

When they stop from presumed water, dont try any more to work the throttle and steering it could fry permanently, unplug asap and dry (like you did). Great review as usual.

Dont sweat it Abby! Balloon the motor and speed controller and that thing will be ready for a lake! Used to do that way back in the day with my rc cars. Wrap balloons around the motor and speed controller
I like the driving characteristics. It has good control and speed. It has a fun looking body shape and color. I really like the price. I see this under the tree for a lot of people as their first RC car/basher.

Try spraying everything, ie speed controller, motor and receiver with Corrosion X. It works very well for waterproofing everything.

Just received this monster this morning and I’m loving it! I can’t wait to do a brushless upgrade since it has the big battery compartment!
Abby, when i started in RC my first buggy was The Frog by tamiya and they use to supply balloons for motor and electronics.
The lunchbox as well!!! Good old days!
NEVER put your brushed motor in a balloon. Brushed motors can run IN water. The balloon is for the Rx, and perhaps the Rx battery box if you're that old school.
Btw, I don't recall my LB coming with balloons...
Man I remember those days! I actually had a fake grasshopper, the rockbuster! Frog came next, still remember the day in the late 80s where I actually beat my friends RC10 with my frog and a trinity drag motor! Times have really changed in the RC world
Great job on the save, Abbey! Yeah, I think this truck comes in first, sorry. Nate. 😳 but the tank is extremely cool and I would like one. I think in the tank you should put a little weight on the front. It's unique, and seems to a lot of fun! This desert truck looks great, and performs well. As for water proofing, flitetest did a whole thing a couple years ago on waterproofing electronics. Check it out! I'm so glad you got it working again!

I looks like you need to pick up a bottle of conformal coating. If you can access the circuit board on the esc, the coating would be enough to handle puddle runs.

@@ianmangham4570 it's still running great! Had a couple of things broken, mostly my fault or bad luck (1x drive shaft and also the diff case needed repairing) I was looking at aliexpress now lol I order more batteries and they should arrive soon :)

check the truck battery after a hard run and see if its warm. I seen the 18650 2S pack and if it gets warm run a 2P pack for more power and keep the battery cooler. With 2P you double the current handling and also the capacity of the battery for a longer run time.
This kills that tank. Hands down #1 so far. This is gonna be my next purchase!
I’m surprised on how fast that car died when she went through the water. Also, this is better than the tank in my opinion because it seems that you could use it for more stuff and have more fun with it through the long run.
It's always an issues if water gets in the Rx. Even the cheap non-waterproof ESC's are pretty sturdy. I suspect it just got the Rx wet. Wrap it in cling flim and you're set.
How does it compare to the 12428? I know that is/ was Nates favorite.
Abbie you need to lookup and do some Conformal Coating on your own with out telling Nate. Then show him that you CAN water proof anything!!! He would be blown away.

you won Abby I think it beats the tank hands down the tank hasn't been bashed like the 12402 the problem is the battery box I run my 12428 in the water all the time just figure out how to seal up the battery box and you will be good to good but you've got Nate as I said hands down

Thanks for doing budget truck week. That's exactly what I'm looking for as a second RC to bash around with. I prefer the the tires and suspension of this truck to the 12428, but that vehicle has almost a cult following and a very large online community for mods and support info. Would you recommend the 12428 over the 12402 for those reasons? I could definitely see making some tweaks down the road if the car holds up, but my fear is that there isn't (and won't be) as much support for the 12402. Thoughts?
