Chimney soot - it is produced by partial combustion, the particles are carried (by smoke) - flammable, that is why chimney need periodic cleaning. edit:- I used to think it was fairies' dust.
It's either soot as previous person replied or its the thing to pull down and use the heat from the fire to heat water and central heating of a back boiler as often used by coal fire, or am I thinking of a flew, to open that helps the fire to burn better, making sure the flames go up the chimney, I don't know it's proper name sorry. Mr. Wilegus, It seems that you just want to pick a fight with the person that makes these, "Virtual Fireplace" videos. Fireplace videos aren't very controversial unless you are anti-Christmas but you haven't indicated that you are. Some of the fireplace videos are more pleasing than others and the subscriber count may be off but is this enough to get in a snit about and write snide comments to the channel owner? It is sad that you need to find fault, and over such small things.

The owner of this channel makes many, many images of fireplaces and he gets views on all of them some more than others, he wants to generate income that way it seems, not clickbaiting, in my view. He may be lying about views or maybe not. He has so many fireplace images, it may be he is falling behind keeping up or getting data mixed up. If you are monitoring channels for lies and clickbaiting, which are abundant, I'd go after those channel owners. I just don't think that this channel is a huge problem that way.
