  • Adding detail to the Randy Cooper 42 inch Star Destroyer kit, is an undertaking that can be applied to other models as well, which in return, will add a level of realism that will surely make your build a conversation piece and surpass your most demanding expectations.
In this video I will be showing you the tedious process that is involved in order to achieve these intricate results.

This is a true labor of love and dedication which I admire. I'm sure it will end up being a fantastic build and you'll be very proud of yourself. Some people don't realize how short life is and how important it is to involve ourselves with projects and adventures that bring us happiness; I can see you understand that perfectly well. I've had a few conversations with you in Rebelscum and I appreciate the respect you have for fan made replicas like MYC. May the Force be with You. Que la Fuerza te Acompañe. Best of luck with your channel.

Thank you for your kind words. Indeed I will be proud of this work. I remember you well from those forums. I enjoyed our conversations. Yes I absolutely respect Michael and MYC Sculptures that unfortunely has closed down operations since May 2024. In general I respect any fan made replica that shows love and dedication put into it’s creation. Muchas gracias de nuevo y Que la Fuerza te Acompañe a ti tambien.

nice work mate! I have been doing something similar but to the Zvezda offering for the past 5 years and I'm not far from finishing it. The worst thing about detailing like this is you have to replicate it on the other side of the ship and parts that were readily available on one side but then not so much on the other as you watch the extra parts inventory take a steep dive.

Thank you. In my case I don’t worry, one can always buy more kits to kit bash which is what I have been doing. I add detail as I go along. I just make it up with my imagination.

Beautiful work. I do similar work scratch building and kit bashing since the age of 12.
That said, it looks way too busy....great but sometimes less is more.
You need to remember that Star Destroyers were new and very clean.
The rebels were the ones including the millennium falcon that had excess detail.
Now if you stated that this was a very old ship maybe one of a few still intact and flying somewhere in a galaxy, I would find this acceptable.
    Great work nonetheless.

Yes, thank you point well taken about IMP ships always being clean; and new as well by the way.
My angle to adding all this detail is that the model builders were being rushed when making the first movie under huge pressure to get the shots done for the movie I order to not go over budget. Remember George Lucas did not have the financial resources he had after when doing his first movie.
I believe if ILM Modeler’s had more time they would have probably added a lot more detail. Look at a USS carrier which is on my 350 meters and see how much detail you can see along its structure below the decks.
So this being a 1.5 mile long ship. I thought it would be appropriate to add all this detail. I find it hard to believe that a small area of say 1cm by 1cm on the ship that in real life would be maybe 50-100 meters X 50-100 meters would be flat and with no details, or very few.
I am enjoying this one build. Not doing another one for sure.

Thank you again. Congrats on being a model builder since a very young age! I did make my cardboard models with masking tape back then in the early 1980s as a kid, then as I turned into a teenager occasionally assembling plastic kits, never getting to paint them. Warhammer, N-Scale trains among other hobbies probably gave me some experience to tackle this current Star Destroyer.
But it’s a lot of work. I will do this model and some Death Star tiles to use as a base for my EFX Tie Fighter and X-Wing. But that’s it.

He has and said that this is next level. Coming from him I take it as a huge compliment. Randy Cooper has had an incredible career building models and props for the big screen. 🎥 🍿 He also is a great fellow, funny and with a good sense of humour, so I really am glad that I can promote his model kit, which is amazing at 42 inches long. I don’t know any other Star Destroyer kit in the world that is better and bigger, till this date.

Do you have a separate room for display of your items. That’s my problem no where to protect them and keep them dust free 😊

Many of my collectibles have acrylic cases that I custom ordered. At one point an entire property was for my collectibles. Something like my personal museum in downtown Toronto.
