It scarcely seems possible, but it was 24 years ago when I was there in the physics department as a postdoc. Needless to day, part of me still haunts it. I spent MANY hours at Sanshiro Pond!
Great video! I've visited there several times and I'm constantly in awe as to how incredibly cinematic the campus looks. You captured that essence well. Awesome!
Hi,are you still here?..Anyway,I want to ask you a question about finance in Japan. How the university name actually affects your salary.OpenWork said in their article ''出身大学別年収ランキング that Utokyo graduates are paid better than others(8million at 30),but there are many well paid(7-8 million at 30) jobs described on heikinnenshu too,so where is the truth?Does diploma of S or A rank universities really affect on your salary or not and it only makes employer to give you more preference, but your salary will depend only on how many years you worked in certain company?Thank you
Todai is THE top university in Japan. If you graduate from there with any kind of degree, you are guaranteed a great job with major Japanese company. In fact, the university is so elite that even the fish pond has entrance requirements. Only the smartest fish get in. They are a special breed called Kashi-coy, and they always travel in schools.
BTW: If you are a Japanese student and you are worried about passing the entrance exam for Tokyo University, check out a piece titled Mark's English Grammar Shortcuts. It will shave months, maybe even years, off of your study time and put you lightyears ahead of your peers. And it's available in Japanese and English. Best of luck!
@@monsoon6083 Wow I don’t even remember commenting this lol I ended up just going to a private university that isn’t super famous but I’m pretty content since I’m able to study something that I’m interested in, which they don’t have a department for at Tokyo uni. Although I do sometimes find myself wishing I was attending a more prestigious or at least a public University, since it’s so much more impressive haha. But I think it’s better to attend uni to study what I enjoy, rather than to impress others:)
@@monsoon6083 haha of course!! Oh wow, best of luck then!! But if you’re still in first grade and already have a goal and are working towards it, I have no doubt that you’ll get in! It’s nice that you have a concrete goal so early on! I ended up being confused and not being able to decide if I wanted to pursue something I enjoy or just aim for the most prestigious University I could until my final year of high school, which led me to have a lot of difficulty staying motivated throughout uni entrance exam preparation haha, so the fact that you have a goal so early on is definitely a big advantage!! Best of luck with university entrance preparations but also don’t forget to enjoy your high school years!!!

@@prospectivestudent579 For the last couple of decades, University was really important to get a higher salary. However, the society starts being doubtful whether those in S or A ranks students are really talented in real workplaces recently. Tokyo University and some other high ranked Universities (Some departments of Keio, Waseda, Kyoto...etc, and Medical Schools) are special. Even if you (if you were a Japanese) study 12h/day for three years, it might be difficult to get there. As they are on average hardworking, it is understandable that some companies want to omit the processes of hiring just by looking at their educational background. Tokyo University is not only well known for producing a number of scientists but also civil servants including government officials (who are currently ruining the Japanese economy). The higher ranked Unis have more chances to get in those stable jobs, and I think that's why the Rank is affecting the average salaries. In my perspective, most of the industries themselves are pretty unstable in Japan and it doesn't matter where is your University from in the long run if you're not working for the government. The government is super stingy persisting on their primary balance to be positive, regardless of Japan is one of the richest countries.
@@趣味趣味-r3t Thank you for your answer,so as a Todai Graduate you approve that studying in high ranked University in Japan doesn't increase your wage, but it will help you to get into better company with higher salary? It is really hard to find Todai alumni online,so i hope you will forgive me for my next question. How did todai diploma affect on you while searching for job?Did it help getting into better company?By the way which faculty did you gradaute from?
Depends on the program you're applying for. To be frank though, if you're not capable of googling this for yourself, I don't think you have the level for Todai.
This is kind of like deja vu watching this. I went to the University of Waterloo in Canada. They refer to some of the library sections as 'the stacks' and our bar is actually called 'The bomb shelter'. uwaterloo.ca/feds/feds-services/bombshelter-pub
Oh wow. It's such a beautiful campus. I've been doing a lot of research about Japanese universities lately, trying to figure out which school I want to go to(Tokyo uni being number one, obviously), but campus pictures online don't do these places justice. Watching this video made me realize just how beautiful the place actually is and now I want to go there even more.
i am visiting Tokyo next month!!! Would like to visit the Tokyo UNIversity including its library! do I need to apply for the visit or will I have access into the uni's library / compound at all?
ARGH I heard that in Pokemon Go you can find electric pokemon in universities BUT there were none of them in here! (Was Level 11 not enough?) /rant At least I found a venusaur.
hey id like to ask a few questions about the university is it all in english? and should i learn japanese? and what is the percentage grade you need to join in, also do they have computer science or anything related with computer engineering? thanks
Hello? There something i want to ask.. If i enroll in that university do i have my own dormitory? And can i have part time work? Someone who studied from Tokyo U plss answer my question 😭 I really wanted to know..
Not at all! There are a few programs in English at the moment. Of course, knowing at least basic Japanese is helpful and it's encouraged to learn while you're there.
It scarcely seems possible, but it was 24 years ago when I was there in the physics department as a postdoc. Needless to day, part of me still haunts it. I spent MANY hours at Sanshiro Pond!
This is my dream university..keeping my finger crossed 🤞
It looked like Japanese Hogwarts.
great university. easily top rank in engineering and science
j
Really? wow!
No, it ranks high in humanities. In STEM it's outclassed by American and European.
Great video! I've visited there several times and I'm constantly in awe as to how incredibly cinematic the campus looks. You captured that essence well. Awesome!
The new library is really pretty and relaxing!!!!
I love studying there before finals!!
