My mamaw passed away about 18 months ago. Lemon cake was her favorite. This is the first time we're getting together for Easter since she passed and I'm in charge of cooking everything. I saw this video, and I instantly thought of her. I went straight out and got all the ingredients. I just finished making it for our dinner in about 12 hours. I can't wait to try it with my family. She must be looking down and saying hello because it was sheer luck that I saw this! Thank you so much....I really needed this. Happy Easter!

My late dad was always quality control on cookies and quick breads I made for many years. I love that.
I absolutely LOVE anything Lemon, especially lemon with a little bite to it. One change to my cake is I add the jello pudding straight to the top of the cake then add the cool whip as the frosting on top by itself. I usually need 1 to 2 boxes of lemon pudding also. I like to have a nice layer of the pudding to be on top of the cake after pushing some through the holes, then the cool whip. Yes, this is definitely a wonderful cake for Lemon Lovers ❤️😁 Hugs from

I made something similar to this once. I used a vanilla cake mix, with Orange jello. One cup of hot water and 1/2 cup of Orange juice. Than after it set up. I mixed 1 Box of vanilla pudding mix with 8 oz of cool whip and a can of Mandarin oranges with the juice. But i didn't put milk in the pudding. Then put that on top of the cake. It was soooo good and perfect for a hot day. Or any day.

I love anything lemon . The only thing I did differently was instead of using Jell-O , I piped lemon pie filling into the holes . In my opinion, using the Jell-O would have just made it a lemon Jell-O cake . It was sooo good . B T W , I made the blueberry & cream poke cake the other day and it was amazing ! Best wishes💜

Going to try it with lime jello for a Saint Patrick's potluck for Sunday. White cake then the lime jello in the holes and later mix more slightly cooled lime jello with the cold vanilla pudding and cool whip. Might add a few dropped of green food coloring.
Maybe lemon zest on top? Looks delicious 😋

I recommend using real whipped cream & Marcopne instead of cool whip, it makes a firmer set to the frosting, and way more creamy.

Your cake looks delicious. I’ve made lemon cake and cut it into 2 layers then put lemon pudding (cooked) between the layers and on top and cool whip on top of that. My family loves it.

Dear Catherine, just want to tell you that you have made me very happy recently w/cake mix cookies. I won a baking contest at my apt complex by making your butterscotch spice cookies. Our Gorham home burned down on 5/31/20 and is now being rebuilt. We are temporarily in a big apt complex. I am a good cook but not a great baker. You helped me so much w/ clear, concise directions. It's actually quadruple lemon since the lemon slices were added. Such a coincidence because I was going to make this next week for my dad's birthday! I'm already thinking of doing this in a chocolate version. Yum both ways!

I think I will add lemon zest to the batter. And lemon curd to the pudding. I like it in-my-face lemony!!
I made mine as per your recipe except I changed up one thing. I added a lil southernism to it and mashed the pudding topping down into the holes. 💜🐯💜

Want a easy lemon dessert. Mix lemon pie filling with angel food cake mix bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. It’s so good!
