I feel lucky that from the age of 18 to 28 I worked as a butcher, so I've gotten comfortable with knifes and just mastering all cuts of protein. I'd love to become a good home cook one day to be able to create my own recipes and experiment.
One thing i learned most people don't do when following recipes is don't sweat it keep trying and trying and also taste your food with each new ingredient you put together to make the final dish. When i see new cooks do it they don't even taste the food for each step cause most of the time the recipes is not going to be for your liking so you might have to tweak it a little bit.
Question for everyone learning to cook, what are you struggling with cooking? What kind of skills, techniques, or recipes would you like to see on my channel? Thank You Everyone for Subscribing and Giving a thumbs up... the channel is starting to grow!
Struggling with finding the spark to want to cook. Living off of unhealthy microwaved fast food I’ve always been a lazy cook. How can I learn to love cooking? I never cook unless I need to and it’s never healthy. If I could want to make healthy foods you would definitely change my life.
@@stephaniealanis2221 Personally I found the "spark" the moment I cooked by myself, not when someone told me to cook. I liked being able to experience and try out new techniques, recipies and ways to make food and learn about food culture in different countries. There are also a lot of different kinds of vegan recipes out there that I totally recommend, but don't start with anything too complicated since failing will lead to frustration which can lead to giving up on cooking as a whole.

I’m a beginner cooker as well I’m learning all of this , my problem is I’m heavy handed and I can’t tell when the food is done I be scared that ima burn it or something
Best thing to get is an instant-read thermometer. Also have an area you can bring your food on the stove that has no heat. Then when you have things under control you can bring your pan back to the heat. Keep cooking!
It's quite a surprise that the vast majority of people who watched this are teenagers.. including me. I excepted a more older audience for this sort of video. Well, considering the fact that said teens are supposed to be more likely to watch mindless videos in various platforms, One of them being Tik Tok, Instagram, tweeter... the list goes on. All I'm saying is that, I really am proud of you guys! No matter what the reason is.. I respect you.
I really want to make sure I’m getting all the proper nutrition in my food. But I don’t like veggies that much. 😅 I always tend to focus on the meat. Also, I have trouble thinking of what to cook next. And I tend to get overwhelmed with all the choices and recipes online.
I was raised eating out for every meal. The only time we ate at home was for holidays or because we were too broke to go out. Homecooked food was oven burnt, bland, or didn't look good. We also ended up eating the same meal multiple days in a row when we ate at home. Later in life, a coworker asked me to go over to her house and dog sit while she was going to be out of town for a few days. When I went, I was horrified to discover that once inside her apartment, there was mice feces literally everywhere and on everything, the couch, coffee table, floor, kitchen table, kitchen counter, I mean EVERYWHERE. I never looked at a pot luck at work the same way again after that and felt exceedingly grateful for the Health Department's regulation of restaurant kitchens!!!! So the idea of a homecooked meal conjures up bad memories and an instant "yuck" feeling. However, that be as it may, I have had to cook at home occasionally. I find it very expensive and I tried making a medieval inn recipe I found an a RUclips channel and by the time I had sources all the ingredients and bought the cookware I needed (something that would be in most people's kitchens already probably but I had to buy new (literally from scratch)) I had spend about $178 for one meal that I didn't really care for and have a bottle of verjuice that is still sitting in the back of the fridge I have not use for as I bought it specifically for that recipe. My main problem is that I have no clue how to make something from scratch without a recipe to tell me what and when to put something in, how to prepare or utilize it, or how to substitute and then how much of the substitute to use when I do, without messing up the recipe. Whether that be a main ingredient or a seasoning. My mom cooked everything on high to spend less time in the kitchen cooking, and so I have no idea how to cook at a different setting or for how long, other than what is stated in the recipe. If it is older and doesn't list taht information, then the recipe is useless for me and I have to find a similar recipe that does have that information included. These are some of my difficulties I have that I need help with if I am going to start cooking regularly at home. something that is a little more important to me now that I have moved out of a city of over 300,000 and am living in a small town of 500 and have to drive 20 miles to get to the next town because there is only one restaurant here and it closes at noon! Plus the next town over, has a limited number of places to eat and after a year, I'm losing the will to eat for lack of variety!
Thank you I had a brain stroke with total memory loss & cognitive delay 3.5 years ago n cooking is one of the hardest things I dont remember how to cook. I have dystonia in my hands n I can't hold a knife for long or cut things very well. I like chicken n my friend said that she was baking a chicken breast but I dont know how ? Do I pound it to make it thinner? I usually buy chicken tenderloins but I bought breasts instead because they were cheaper.
Y'all always ask for comments. I want to tell you why I want to learn to cook, but honestly not from you. It's nothing personal, but you're energy level is so mellow it made me sleepy. My parents are teachers. You have to make people get excited if they're going to learn from you. God bless you in your efforts.
I recently became a housewife and need to learn meal plans and cooking, well, anything! I can do somethings, but I need to cook 3 meals a day, and I am stuck. 5 years now and I still have no clue! Help!!!
Ok, so I can cook noodles and soup, I can cook rice, I can chop vegetables for the most part, I've cooked a burger on a pan twice, but I feel like there's other basics I need such as meat
I have a question what if your starting to cook chicken for example and your grossed out by it but your parents season the chicken but you cook it but you can't do the preparation because you grossed out by it ? For me I have no cooking skills nor do I have any technique and my cooking is not consistent it never is consistent really cuz I never cook that much at all I did it a few times and they all fail especially with the preparation part, and I even done Fried Chicken once and that did not go well because the inside was still pink and the coating was peeling off either by too much coating or too much heat and every time I cook the food that Mother season I tend to add a little bit more what I needed.
I'm in a similar boat. Raw chicken can make me gag. Nasty stiff. It helps me to use tongs to transfer it. For the smell, I can use a "covid" mask with a little pouch of dry coffee grounds in it, so I smell coffee instead of chicken. The only way I have been able to cook chicken without it being over or undercooked (especially when it's hard to see color in a poorly lit room and I'm scared it's raw even if it shreds right but don't want it chewy) so far is: bring a pot of water to boil (enough water to cover the chicken pieces, but not much more so it doesn't spill over) (visually boiling enough that a child would call it boiling), then use tongs (so it doesn't splash and you don't have to touch it) to drop in raw unfrozen/defrosted chicken tenders (nothing on them) (if you don't have tenders, you can slice up whatever chicken you have into a general tender size), let them boil (don't change the temp, just keep it where you had it) with no lid for exactly 10min with a timer, remove them with the tongs placing the super white unseasoned tenders into/onto whatever heat safe dish you have, let them cool for a while until they are just warm and you can eat it without blowing on the food while it's already in your mouth (so they finish cooking through). Done. You can eat it as is, or add different pieces to different dishes when you know what to cook with them. If I use them in another dish, I cook the dish first (without the chicken), tear the tenders into smaller pieces, then toss them in the pan of flavors with the dish at the very end just to warm up the chicken and mix it into the meal without losing moisture (don't want chewy meat).
