I can't even imagine how indescribable it would be to see this phenomena in person, must be something so incredible that all you could do was stare in the heavens for hours, I know I would be mesmerized by this!
i was sitting 5 hours outside in the cold in norway , because i don`t want to miss one second of the greatest thing you can watch on earth ! These pictures are burned into your brain forever .
whenever i feel that life in no longer worth living, i stop sometimes and take solace in the gifts of beauty nature has to offer. the northern lights restores one's soul.
wugglestehgnome, That is one thing I swear I'm going see do/see before I die as well. You never see anything nearly that beautiful here so close to Chicago with all the city lights. You can't even see the stars half that well from here. Great video
The cosmic rays of heaven brighten up the night skies with beauty only percieved in ones imagination but realised with; but one look at the ever-beautiful aurora borealis.....*sigh*
i live in Norway and have seen this often in the winter when the sky is clear and cold outside.. i just stare as long it is going, i dont mind if there is -25 outside... i just love it :o)
this does not embrace the Northern Lights as it should....This is a wonder I was able to see for 15 yrs. when i lived in Alaska. It is one of the most Beautiful sights you will ever see!!!!
I live in north Norway. And here it is northern lights all the time! It comes in differnet colours and shapes. And sometimes it is real intense and close!!
Read the closing credits -- the music was written for an Aurora Borealis theme-music contest by Michael Sekuloff, and won that contest's "sliver metal." (Apparently, he can write music better than he can type or spell.)
you cant se them in the south, so in the north: Finnmark or Troms county. Some citys might be from Trømsø, Hammerfest, to Alta, Karasjok and Kirkenes. It can appear anrywere, or you might not see it at all. But i think it's mostly in the winter when it's cold, dry and good weather (a clear sky)
I think so, it depends on the time of day, and sun dust particles coming to earth. I seen them in both winter fall and summer. Fall is the best time to look for them.
Only in the winter. The darker it is, the better you see them. And in summer, we don't have night. Also, powerful solar winds create better lights, so really good ones are quite rare.
The Aurora Borealis can come and go in the blink of an eye, ever changing, always amazing us, forever engraving it's beauty in our minds for ever. There is no music that could ever describe this wonder of nature, all I can share with you is my emotions of what I see... I wish It could go on for ever. that is beautiful omega
This was a real long time ago but I saw a faint red one on my way home with my dad....it was weird at first but then I saw it was moving a little...I live in Ny
LOL i didn't realize till after i posted that my daughter was still logged in (Ayame). She wasn't even thought of as I was only 11 yrs old. It really was an amazing sight and something I've never seen again. I'm 32 yrs old now
The Aurora Borealis is caused by the collision of possitively and negatively charged particles found in the magnetosphere, with atoms in the Earth's upper atmosphere. It can appear as a colored glow or it can follow the earths magnetic field a form surtains of ight.
"Smellieslippers32" is right, this phenomenon is caused by the ions that came with the solar wind, I don't know if U know something about Magnetic Field, let me explain u a little, the MF is like a shield that rejects this ions to the magnetic poles of the earth, and the colisions of this ions with the oxigen an nitrogen excite them and the energy converts into light ... If u check something about Magnetic Field you maybe will understand better!! Wonderful phenomenon, isn't it?
YOU DON´T HAVE TO BE AT THE NORTH POLE! aND THEY ARE VERY COMMON DURING WINTER. THEY CAN BEE SEEN IN THE N. HEMISPHERE IN SCOTLAND, SCANDINAVIA, SIBERIA, ALASKA AND NORTHERN CANADA - AND ABOUT ONCE EVERY 200YRS AS FAR SOUTH AS THE EQUATOR.
heart touching... feels like sittin' with her on the icy nature... watching amazingly the greenish aurora sky... with love and romance....
if it's so beautiful to watch it from a screen, I can't imagine how gorgeous it must be to watch it with your own eyes
My biggest wish is live in a place that i can watch aurora every day
because nothing is more beautiful than aurora
I can't even imagine how indescribable it would be to see this phenomena in person, must be something so incredible that all you could do was stare in the heavens for hours, I know I would be mesmerized by this!

you can catch them in green land I was very lucky to see them... it was beautiful.

I live in a shitty place called TN. And I am moving where I can see this beautiful natural wonder.
There is so much going on around the world that i don't even know about.
you can also see the if you go high enough in sweden and finland... for people who live in europe.
I think so, it depends on the time of day, and sun dust particles coming to earth. I seen them in both winter fall and summer. Fall is the best time to look for them.
2:11 beautiful
1:53 amazing!
I know this is real and is sooo nice to watch
This video deserves 5 stars. Curses to whomever didnt rate it that high.

The ultimate graphics card: Nature.
The Auroras occur near but not on the North and South poles. Alaska has one, I believe 2 out of 3 nights. Or something like 266 days out of the year.
Yep, its the solar wind smashing the earth magnetic field. Is weaker in poles and thats why you can see it in zones near them.
thanks!!!!!
loved your comment, its like the pinnacle of optimism:)
exquisite :)
i likw this stuff!
all right all right, calm down :P i didn't know that thx for the info
wow
This was a real long time ago but I saw a faint red one on my way home with my dad....it was weird at first but then I saw it was moving a little...I live in Ny
For those of you who have seen the northern lights, how fast do they move in person?
well come to sweden and you can see sometime =)
I'd love to take the missus to see something like this, she'd love it, awe inspiring
which part of Norway is best? I would love to see the Northern Lights, it's my dream
Plasma is so cool..
that's awesome how other planets also have it

2:10 --- Aurora Borealis with Ursa Maior... GREEEEEEEEAT :)
@nahojrep hell man you are so lucky i would die to see it in real.
I really want to see it onetime its so beautiful.
LOL i didn't realize till after i posted that my daughter was still logged in (Ayame). She wasn't even thought of as I was only 11 yrs old. It really was an amazing sight and something I've never seen again. I'm 32 yrs old now
I wrote the MUSIC! the pictures were to accompany the music, but it seems the music has become secondary to the wonders of nature.
thx :)

Aurora Borealis
aurora borealis, at this time of year, in this part of the country, localised entirely within you kitched?! "Yes".. "May I see it?"--- "no..."

OMG! What a beautiful song! What the title of it?
Nothing quite as beautiful as nature...wait, did you say you wrote the music yourself??
What year? i'm living in LA !!!!
The music? Who is it? I love it.
