UPDATE AGAIN: So yeah, I am really happy Kuro addressed almost every single remark I made in this video and this mostly has to do with their game dev news they've shared like fixing substats, improving gameplay and so much more. Really looking forward to the game's release and Kuro is doing a wonderful job here! NOTE as of March 22, 2024: The developers have adressed the issues with Echoes farming, you can check it out here wutheringwaves.kurogame.com/en/news/detail/690 Basically, a lot of randomization such as the range of substat values & efficiency of using Tuners have been adressed. Might make a follow-up video on this! EDIT: So I am getting reports that some people can SKIP the story but then not character stories. I dunno, it's confusing, I saw so many people who were not able to skip, maybe only select group of playtesters can skip story?? Also, regarding gacha system, you can use special currency after a lot of summons and grab featured character constellation from shop. I have worked on this video for 8 days non-stop... after 200GB and 40 hours of sorting footage, hope you guys enjoy my thoughts about CBT2 of WuWa :D
Tbh the whole you have to use the daily Resign to unlock substats is a necessary evil for the most part, like just think on how busted it would've been if they DIDN'T do that people would be farming Echo's non-stop. Edit: Also I did heard that a Shiny Echo of the same mob can be used at the same time
This is Tower of Fantasy all over again with the difference that at least ToF tried to be their own thing and WW is straight out We are the same but cheaper!! And Generous and they listen to the community!!! Competition is always good!!! And also They are getting money from Tencent too which mean money for marketing and zero for Polish the game....
It will not kill Genshin. Genshin will kill Genshin. Wuthering Waves will be a solid game along side Genshin, it will just be what gameplay you prefer. I would say the majority of people will still like Genshin more because of how casual it is and yes.. most of Genshins player base is insanely casual.
Yeah this is what im talking about genshin can kill itself but a genshin killer nah a genshim competitor yeah many will be and the one whos going to be kill in genshin is the hard core players not the casuals like me you can play other game no one forces you to stay in one game just because you invested on it the only thing WE GENSHIN PLAYERS ARE LONGING FOR IS NOT END GAME THE COMPETITOR WE DONT WANT GENSHIB IS THE ONLY GAME WERE GOING TO PLAY WE WANT TO PLAY SOMETHING LIKE GENSHIN OR MUCH better than genshin
Personally while I don't have interest in investing in another game, since I'm already on HSR and Genshin, I am worried that WW will be a victim of overhype. Like so many people are hyping this game up as being the one to dethrone Genshin and I worry it will set incredibly high expectations/standards for the Devs that honestly shouldn't be set for them and could backfire tremendously when it fails to meet these expectations.
@@rushalias8511yeah there will be greater chance WW will be overhype and not as famous as genshin or hsr. There is many hoyoverse fans that just play game because it is created by hoyoverse....that is reason why hsr is so popular 😂
FINALLY, someone who played the game for more than 10 hours and is talking about the Echo system rng. It looks great on the surface because of "you can farm in the overworld, so need for stamina", BUT, it is just as grindy as Genshin/HSR, because you NEED sub-stat unlock materials that are time-gated by daily stamina. I really hope they do something to make it less infuriating to farm by refunding the sub-stat unlock materials in some way
I think I'd probably prefer Genshin's/HSR's systems honestly. At least I can farm my artifacts and fodder materials in the same place; saves a lot of time. I don't think I'd be willing to play Wuthering Waves for a long time if I have to spend time in the overworld killing mobs every day AND farm a domain to actually get my substats lmao. I'm sure many people will be down for that. I personally have neither the time nor desire to play like that. Obviously the game is still in beta, we'll see how it is when it actually releases.
I’m not a person who cares all that much about grinding/endgame/maximizing character dmg, just as long as I can get through the main story and weekly bosses needed to level characters and their talents, that’s really all I care about, but it’s still unfortunate how many layers of randomization there are for the echoes system. Exploration, story, world building, and character design are more important to me and so far WW seems to be pretty solid there. Thank you for the longer review, it was super helpful!
I couldn't agree more with you. When it comes to gaming experience, story is the priority for me. And a grinding system that is generous enough so that I can consume said story content comfortably.
@@YosepRASeems like you in the wrong genre, I'm pretty sure ps5 and Sony exclusives is the best thing to experience story drive games. Expecting good story from a gacha game is kinda stretch.
Out of all the genshin content creators who played the WW cbt, you sir gave the most comprehensive overview of this game and I appreciate it. Especially the clarification of the equipment and banner system, you did a great job.
Indeed, this beta review tells me everything I need to know about this game. I wouldn't call it a Genshin killer, but it is good that Genshin has some competition in the same space to encourage innovation, and - possibly - more generous rewards in the future. There is also the possibility this game might succeed Genshin somewhere down the road once active development on Genshin is discontinued. The game looks so similar that the devs are probably counting on abandoned Genshin players to flock to WW once their servers shut down.
@@Lennis01 When a game gets as big as Genshin the potential for stopping active development and/or shutting down becomes a non-factor from the perspective of competition. When a title has such overwhelming market dominance, it's more likely that a newly released competitor will shut down before it shuts down itself. It's why 20yr old games like WoW have upset the playerbase for nearly a decade and yet it's still substantially larger than every MMO, including it's biggest competitor in FF14. Many people may move over to other games, but even with that it's extremely unlikely other titles will eclipse Genshin.
There is some misinformation in this video aswell. Let me clarify -Shiny echoes DO have significant difference, and the difference is that they counted as different entity from a same monster. For a context, you in order to have set bonus, you need to 5 DIFFERENT monster echoes, if you stack same monster it will only count as one, this is why you can't have 2 boss echo for crit stat and have set bonus. And shiny is the way to bypass it, you can have shiny boss echo, and one normal echo, and they both will count for the set bonus (tested it myself) -You can feed other echoes to lvl up echoes, but they have to be cap lvl -You said that tuning items had to be farmed only on tacet fields, which is also not true, you can also obtain them in echo exp dungeon, which gives more echo exp, but no echoes (that mostly pile of trash anyways) and cost less echo. You literally showed in this very video at 12:25 that it's in the list of rewards. I am not defending echo system, i honestly think they need to make them drop more often, because 20% is too low, but it's not good thing to not mention those important details either.
20% is pretty good odds, that's 1 in 5. Especially when considering there's likely to be legions of enemies to fight for said echoes and they respawn daily. Then the bosses are refightable after a cool down.
Finally, It's an actual overview and feedback video and not a "Genshin could never!" And "Genshin copy!" And "Mint pickers salty!" Video. For that, you deserve a thumbs up.
that's what i like to see. it's fine to compare it to genshin but some people take it too far, seeing "genshin could never" everywhere is very annoying
Also about shiny echoes: there are only 2 in the open world, the others are rewards for hard content. But there is a benefit. Normally you can't use two of the same creature because otherwise it doesn't count toward the set bonus (so if I use 2 boars, the set bonus will be 4/5). But, shiny echoes count as a different creature from regular echoes. This lets me equip both a normal Morning Aix and a shiny Morning aix and still get the 5 set bonus.
I'm so glad you're talking about the echoes. It seems like the echo issue is finally making noise on the global side. The worst thing that could happen is that Kuro thinks the global side is happy with it so they don't change it. No one likes it and its hard to see it not changing by launch. Soft pity is 65 btw. Oh also farming echo exp is much better for tuners than tacet fields in my experience. I get a gold tuner about 1/2 of my runs.
I mean they either allow you to farm mainstat echos without substats for "free" or they lock them behind grinding them out just like Genshin with stamina.
I’ve always said this “The echoes system is no better than Genshin’s artifacts”. Both require multiple RNG layers. However, we cannot say it’s better or worse until the game launches, and we get to see how often we get a particular material or rewards generally.
Ngl I'm still leaning way further towards echoes than artifacts due to the fact you can farm them infinitely, and they double as actual active skills rather than stat sticks.
It's worse, you can farm artifact in 5 mins see that shit substats and be done in that day. While the other is emptying the whole world for what? 4-5 hours and you have to spend resources just to see what substats you had. And both of these games you had to do it everyday and you will know who will get burned out fast.
u doesnt need those godly substats if ure good at the game, just wanted to pint this out. all those grind for perfect stats are more focused towards casual players who arent skilled enough to clear the hard stuff
@y5512 that feels untrue. we don't even know how hard the endgame will even be at the moment and even if you're super good at the game having characters with horrible artifacts does not mean you'll clear battles.
@ I mean Steparu did a Rover solo Hologram difficulty 4 run with pretty scuffed echoes. I haven't managed it yet mostly because I have a skill issue. Honestly you will die before you run out of time most of the time.
@@artievy5512 For WW thou, I hope they can optimizes and tune the end game content well and make players less dependent on substats or perfect echos set.
Thanks for clarifying the echo system, i didnt know the rng was 4 layers deep Hopefully they make changes to it, but if not, i think ill just live with grinding for main stats only lol
Lol, genshin doesn't fare better. 1st the 50-50 between two sets, 2nd the main stat, 3rd the sub stat, 4th the hidden substat, and to upgrade one artifact to full will need 19 runs on the domain, it is honestly at this point is just as bad as wuthering waves, but their devs listens and implements what the community ask unlike genshin.. And I still have to know how the story ends too, this will be a long ride that I'll be sad to farm artifact on.. also we got a ridiculous amount of stat than wuwa, we got 18 stats scattered to specific slots
@@rubensiregar6890cus it’s kuro games if money was their first priority they wouldn’t be giving so many free s ranks in PGR and also they’ve been known to listen and implement changes players want compared to a certain dev team who took three years to even implement basic qol changes
@@rubensiregar6890Stop being ignorant they actually changed 90% of the story and world building because of complaints it's not a hoyo game they will listen to players
Many content creators gave feedbacks. In my opinion you were the most constructive in the ways they did right and wrong. Thanks for really taking the game seriously man
Considering this is from Kuro Games, the same company that created PGR, I say we won't have to worry about the echo system soon, since they actually actively listen to player feedback.
i hope for the echoes system, they change how it shows the susbtats. rather than unlocking a random sub per lvl, make it show what substats we got at lvl 0 but by unlocking it via leveling up, the % can be random
Yep, this guy and Zoxaskun has one of the most honest reviews I've seen as for now...some either overpraise WuWa or some just blatantly yap and compare it to Genshin with baseless claims (I'm looking at you Tenha), ao this is a breath of freash air...an honest guy that knows what he is talking Though It just irks me how many people call it a copy when the game basically used Genshin as an INSPIRATION...though that is normal for internet people so...meh
@@WutheringImpactZero Well som eof them are already buried on the money they spent on the game so they result on tribalism to deny the fact that their game now has a competitor on the same genre
@@CoFF3e_Man why do ppl even care? i mean yeah it probably did take some inspo from genshin, that much is obvious. but it didn't copy any specific character designs or things like that. it's just a few core mechanics. as long as the game is good who cares.
@@NikLoveGamingYou should actually read it, to understand why the start is like that. Look at facial expressions and wording. UD did a pretty good job of figuring out what's going on early in the story.
Goated video. I watched a lot of videos on ww and almost every point this video touched on was exclusive and interesting. things like the combat not being affected by bad (madame) ping but also the echo leveling system. I really was under the impression that you can just grind endlessly in the game and just get better and better like in a classic mmorpg. Without spending the plate thingies.
That is one of the best things I’ve seen about this game. It sucks in Genshin how getting 5 star constellations is something I’ll only be able to do if I win the lottery or spend all my yearly pulls only on one character.
when i started playing PGR i immediately hope they would have an open world version with the same combat mechanics and animation and oh boy they did, this game in a level of its own, perfect for players who want to try another open world games aside from the popular ones. hope they release the open beta soon. Keep up the good work Kuro!
@@leewu-rin3146 He only played Genshin it seems ;d Anyone saying that Wuwa's combat is boring must be tripping on that weird ass Genshin copium or some shit.
I also think it looks boring, and i play PGR daily... It just doesn't have the same appeal... the characters feel more simple with character rotation being more forced.@@GTRaijin
If apparently echoes is on par with artifact farming or maybe even much worse, then you do have a problem already. It doesn't matter how Wuthering Waves will be good in other aspect to genhsin, but when a important farming system like that is super rng and has alot of layers to upgrade, well the devs do need to consider changing it.
I hope they make it simple like elden ring, and the open world are become your fighting and exploring adventures not shitty chore. It would be great they just stop the gacha for weapon and give it half for suprise content when exploring the land and sell it for more exploring content as dlc aka added new content that way people won't complain. For refine shit just make it minion drop at certain percent and is resetable when you rest or teleport that way is faster and make you playing not scheduled gaming time. Even game like elden ring have pvp why the hell game grind as fuck like genshin dont, when I play genshin I don't bother farming to seriously anymore and pull less because when I got them I know gonna gon through shit again this means their farming system is literally that kill the games. Too much system that resrict creativity, time, and even to enjoy the new character wtf genshin is doing😅
Make it like elden ring but with preset named character with innate ability that can build with creativity through exploring the land, beat the boss and drop a weapon at rate for is refining stuff is usually drop around the boss minion or mining at rate that way the game more simple and each new character sometime added with new area and their featured weapon and refine item at certain place not the exact place for the sake exploring for leveling just beat the monster or a bit harder use currency like elden ring so people don't think twice to pull character because there is no shitty farm ahead, skin is already good because is cheap and no gambling in it. The fight itself is already good and balanced especially for casual but I prefer if the play is more mechanical oriented or skills based not just feels pressing button. It would be more better if the weapon have active skill not just passive and this will lead not just passive but also active build play possibilities, it will be really fun and the games will have long live and each new content character, area, event, and main story will be hyped atleast for week or half month. Of course it will earn less money but atleast people convinced to gacha the character more and don't ask for free stuff often.
I don't understand people who complain about a FREE game like this. Yes there is significant grind to max your character, and you might even have to spend money to get there in a reasonable time. But again, this is a free game....and they have to make money somehow. Games like this cost millions of dollars to develop. You can easily enjoy the game without emptying your wallet. I played a lot of Genshin, and the game is amazing....didn't spend a dime. I'd be more sceptical if all the gatcha stuff was included in a full priced game. Back in the days you NEVER got games like this for free, times have truly changed. So have people's expectations apparently.
For more info on this, I highly suggest watching MrPokke's video regarding the Echo system. As of right now, they're trying to cater to both casual and hardcore players and both sides feel bad farming echoes because of its "oh-so-good" RNG.
I love Genshin's attention to detail in lore, environment, character stories, music and overall worldbuilding. If WuWa offers these things AND complex combat and more freeform exploration, I'll be a fan. What killd ToF for me (atleast early on, I haven't played since 1.2) was the lackluster OST and audio design. The story and environment were kind of plain so I stopped playing. I know it's improved since then, but it's enough for me not to pick it back up. I hope WuWa delivers
The environment is plain if you compare it to Genshin, but there is a chance later regions will improve, like chenyu vale is a next step up of Genshin regions. You might like it if you enjoy nier automata (fast paced combat/post apocalypse barren world)
@@ScarletX4Imo I really like WW's exploration mechanics, it feels really fun to run on walls and do parkour. However the world feels incredibly bland and uninspired. Mondstadt and Liyue both have unique vibes to it because they were inspired by a real life culture. So far Central plains, Tiancheng, Desorock, they all feel incredibly boring with a tint of greyness. I know the game will get better as it's only beta but as of now it feels so uninspired
@@zeccy337 I always thought Mondstadt was incredibly generic, insert European (always only German) inspired place that you've seen a million times. Liyue is better but other chinese games have done it a lot better, also feels a bit janky since it was still early into the games' life. Later zones are better, although Inazuma made me like the color purple less, didn't think that was possible. Idk but to me just using real life cultures so blatantly liek Genshin feels more uninspired and bland, not like WW or any other fiction can be completely original. WW is a more mature, post apocalyptic setting so don't expect a lot of vitality and flourish. The gorgeous night sky compliments the more barren land very well imo, it hasn't been ruined. I saw a video with a very pretty willow tree that was kinda hidden. etc. There are pockets and moments of beauty, which fits the setting and the world they're living in I think. But yeah they'll improve as well.
@@plainsalt I mean I might be biased because I've been playing the CBT2 nonstop for the past week, but I've honestly gotten tired of the landscape. It's based off a post apocalyptic landscape so the scenery has a greyish tint to it, and almost every region is extremely similar. The reason I brought up regions in Genshin is because they're inspired by real life cultures, and thus there's a big difference between regions. When you go from mondstadt to liyue you can immediately feel the difference. Travelling from Central plains to Tiancheng nothing changed at all, maybe it got rockier, but the landscape is so mundane I can't
As a Genshin player, I liked that it "took" much of the gameplay mechanics and controls and menu interface from Genshin. It made me feel like I was skipping the learning stage of the game and was able to get right into enjoying it, hence why I felt like I was able to play it longer than Tower of Fantasy. Take my opinion with a grain of salt of course.
as a PGR player , i have high hopes from wuthering waves cuz it has some or basic mechanism from pgr like parry , i used to play genshin but it got boring after sometime , hope so kuro wont do the same like mihoyo
I will definitely try it out, especially if it releases before Natlan. But if Echo system doesn't significantly change from cbt2? Yeah, it would be "hop into the game for a few days every update" at best.
Nathan is not anything special, Will made a waves for some days then dies out no new contents just casual exploration like before This is a brand new game so its not comparable in my opinion
@@Kishinoo exploration for a lot of people is new content tho. Genshin does put out new content, a minority of people not enjoying it does not mean it doesnt exist.

@@Kishinoo yeah, I personally will also be trying out wuwa and even if I dont continue playing it (like I did with hsr), I'll at least wouldve had my fun with it. As for wuwa popularity, it's probably going to cater to "hardcore" players who want a game like genshin, so it'll probably be smaller than genshin in terms of popularity.
I think half the Genshin Community who are looking forward to slighlty more complex combat or more possible endgame would switch to WW. Especially those who feel like Genshin is catered to a younger population. I think the other half of the community who play a little more casually or pwrhaps dont have time, will continue with Genshin. As long as the two communities domt doom post on each other, everyone can be happy. I hope WuWa is given a fair chance for success before people claim that it is dead on arrival.
I play genshin everyday and also someone who wants more endgame content but i doubt I will play WuWa. Too much of my time, and im already playing two, genshin and hsr. Not to mention there are a few consol games coming out starting from ff7rebirth. So im not going to invest into another time consuming game like WuWa. Though i do hope it will be a good competitor for genshin.
Hahaha "half". FYI, even in Honkai Star Rail, only 2000 people (out of every 1 million users) cleared MOC10. You guys are so out of touch with reality, maybe this is why you keep creating schizoid scenario in your head like "Mihoyo is panicking!"
I 100% agree with you! Echos are an interesting twist but overgrind it offers in the long run is just nuts. Even if you forget about the substat unlock shinanigans the unrestricted grind for Echos in the overworld is also a problem in my eyes cos I do not look forward to try hards knocking at my world door to grind echos. I am a Genshin veteran. I remember how insane people were when Cyno came out and everyone needed scarabs. Even Rawfler joked about it in his Cyno.exe. Now imagine THAT but constantly
I honestly think this might be the most comprehensive guide/opinion I've watched about WuWa. All takes are supported and organized with personal experience after playing the game for 70+ hours, which is imo already more credible than other content creators who have played less You were critical of the points that need improvement, but give credit to where it is due. All the effort that has been spent on this video was not in vain. All players who want to know more about WuWa or have doubts about it (mainly due to prejudice stirred up by SocMeds) should watch this great video. Lastly, I would just like to share that I very much agree with what you said at 20:00. Genshin needs good competition (no, not HSR) to make Hoyo's Genshin dev team feel the pressure to be better and finally cater to their player base with what they deserve. I am hoping WuWa lives with good expectations and manages to pull it off. It is still too early to derive final verdicts about the game since it is still in the developing stages, but these expectations are a good sign that Wuwa might just be the game we were looking for to create a good impact on its gaming genre.
Anyone who thinks that HSR is a direct competition to genshin have never heard about the concept of "genres", which is unfortunately a majority of the genshin playerbase as most of them either have genshin as their first real game/gacha game or have never strayed from open world/action rpg genre in their life so far.
WuWa will never rise to by a Genshin competitor. Genshin players are casuals in most cases and a fair amount has full time jobs. They would not be able to spend enough time on a game like WuWa trying to learn all the complex things and spend their time constantly trying bosses. It will make it's name in the genre but it will never rise anywhere near to cause any form of harm to Genshin.
@@medojed8266the echo farming especially... even for me who dont have job yet its feels too hardcore gaming. In genshin that would similiar to elite farming. Not only in WW we need alot of time but also we need to fight the rng man... I like the quick domain artefact like genshin, but man we really went 3 years without endgame.
The concept of “Genshin Killer” is stupid. Genshin is so huge, no gacha game can kill it. Players leaving and not spending is the only possible reason even then, it will take years. Let go of that buzzword. Many more will try and attempt to recreate that success. WW looks fun, but let’s get real. It will not kill anything.
No game can kill it, "no gacha can kill it" is a low bar. Genshin is among top of the mainstream game, Epic Games published their 2023 insight and surprisingly Genshin is above Fortnite in terms of revenue and engagement, Genshin literally above Epic owns cash cow which is crazy. Genshin won PlayStation grand awards for 3 years in a row, the award is basically game that make most money on PS, people gotta be delusional to think any game could achieve such thing or even top that
@@justsomeguywithfreesauce4800 you still don't even know how the market runs. A new game always learn better from the old one because they have data and experience, it has a positive benefit because it increasing the compete in the market. So both old game and new game, and future game becomes better and better. Genshin may be have a place in the history, but that's all it can do, and future will also become the past also and may be a new game will take Genshin place, and time passing the children will play a new game and they even know about Genshin or WW. Only those industries take all the profits. So basically a game can be dead or can be kill, it's depend on those industries
Great video. Im hoping they optimise the game. I can play Genshin, honkai and another game at the same, no lag but this game, the lag spikes are insane...My ping is worse in genshin but runs like butter. Wuwa for me is like crunchy peanut butter, smooth at times then spikes to 800 ping. Still love the game regardless
For those who are concerned about the echo system in WuWa here is something you need to consider: *Substat reroll* for those who have not played PGR, Kuro Games already has an existing system that allows for rerolling memory resonance basically the closest equivalent to a sub-stat. So Kuro just needs to apply almost the same system but tailormade for Echoes instead. If they implement a system wherein players can sell/dismantle unwanted echoes then exchange the byproduct for a substat re-roll or better substat selector then that should solve the deep RNG problems of the Echo system. Now will Kuro games implement it? Chances are they would. Unlike some other devs from some other game/s Kuro tends to listen and care about their players feedback.
I'd also love to see many features from pgr get implemented too. However, it's already cbt2 but something as vital as substat reroll hasnt been implemented yet could mean that it would likely never be.
A Genshin CC without the heavy bias towards Genshin impact and yes the echo rng is gonna be changed the feedback is pretty constant about it back in CBT1 echoes were even worse because the sets were very specific to the enemies now if an enemy does havoc damage it's gonna be part of the havoc set.
For me, its gotta look good, have engaging gameplay, and have an intriguing story. I hope WuWa can tick that last box too. Genshin from the get go had a cool story and managed to establish those 2 key players that will have the biggest impact from start to finish. I just hope WuWa doesn't completely neglect its story
I think artifact farming system may be just a little bit better in wuthering waves (getting what you want-wise) since in genshin you spend resin to get shitty mainstat piece, while here you farm resin-free for main stat and then spend resin to upgrade it. I think this way you are still a step closer to obtaining what you want than in genshin. However, it surely takes more time to farm pieces in wuthering waves if you have to run through open world and kill mobs when in genshin you get it from one domain, which is better for those with limited play time. I didn't play the beta so I may be wrong, but thats just what im thinking after watching this video.
Absolutely love wuwa I havent spent a single dollar I just grinded since day 1 and I was able to get yinlin, jiyan and verina. Only got verina to waveband 2 tho the rest are 1 its a lot of fun doing combos, ultimates, dodging and parrying which all keep the combat fresh. There's just too many of these gacha games man...ZZZ will be the final one I play I PROMISE myself..
As someone who has also put 70+ hrs into the beta, completely agree with your main points. Echoes are a cool new take on artifacts, but the rng feels even worse to me. Also when it comes to weapons, so far f2p 4 star weapons do not have crit rate/crit dmg on them. It was only available on battlepass/limited weapons. Hopefully that changes with the release
I doubt any 4 stars weapon will have crit main stats For obvious reason but crit Is not the only good thing if the f2p options are good like In hsr then it will be fine
Yeah I wanted to touch upon that in the video but seems like it could be something that's just not included in this beta... better to address core systems first but hopefully the devs don't just paywall crit rate/dmg weapons.
So, can anyone explain to me why the menu layouts are exactly the same as in Genshin? It looks closer to Genshin than even other HoYo games which is rather uncanny and I don't really understand the purpose behind it. I find the menu experience in Genshin to be a chore, a necessary evil and if I were to play another game to avoid burnout (which many people interested in WuWa say they want from this game) I'd rather not have the new game make me use the exact same menu screens as the old one. They built a combat system from ground up and it shows yet it looks like they completely gave up un originality in other areas. Or did they do it on purpose?
They may have done this on purpose. Having the same UI will help the GI players who will inevitably try out WuWa, so they won't have to re-learn a whole new button system all over again. In this way the transition will be smooth and safe
Because Kuro is the Hoyo copy company. They tend to copy everything, good or bad. I like the genshin UI experience but i hate the Honkai Impact menu gaming and PGR has the exact same garbage 20 layered menues.
at least a review where theres no ranting about how bad genshin is and focuses on what i really want to know. its unfortunate this game isn't available in my region
I expect a grind of some sort, otherwise we'd all be maxed out within a month and bored. Wuwu clearly wants us to see their overworld, as all game devs do, but in this case we're properly rewarded for it
It would be cool if Kuro implemented a similar Item to the one in PGR for memory resonance, but for Echo substats. In PGR there is this 6star item you can purchase that allows you to select what resonance in the memories (they are like artifacts in genshin) you want, which is awesome. Obviously that might be a bit too much for Wuthering waves, and we don't want this game to be too f2p friendly (otherwise Kuro really wouldn't be able to get much money cause PGR is already to generous) But like would be cool if this item is like available during events and limited in amount. And you can use them to pick what substats you want on your echo. But the %roll should still be gacha. Like say I use the Item and pick Crit dmg% for the substat. I get the substat, but the amount of % is still randomly chosen. I know this might be too much, but would be cool if they just keep it limited. That way players can at least guarantee they can use the Echos they want without worrying about bad substats and having to replace them. And it would also encourage players to do the events to get the item.
And I want a 'Genshin copy' where you can be a fairy and explore a vast world of beautiful gardens, castles, and ruins and play with adorable mythical animals. (Sorry. Just passing by, haven't watched this video yet as I have no plans to play Wuthering Waves since my laptop is running out of space. Gotta check out those 'Genshin killers', though, just to see all the fuss.)
I already prefer WW than Genshin in all aspects but I must say, they need more improvements. My main concern is the Echo RNG and lack of player control. While I Iove farming them in the open world, the devs must balance the effort required to hunt and the RNG included. They need to drastically reduce the RNG or allow player control especially in a game where you want people to use the characters.
I mean Rexlent is just god. Dude will use the jankiest constructs in PGR and make them seem op asf. So for him to reach difficulty 3/4 and claw his way there, is nothing short of his sheer skills and will. Thank you for the review of WuWa! This makes me excited for it!
finally a worthy opponent who doesnt marketing themself as "genshin killer" and, from my perspective, i will definitely try to complete WuWa when it finally comes out because of: 1. 240 energy max capped with 6min per regen 2. There's alot i can do in the openworld without using the energy, even tho as you mentioned, we need the energy later to unlock substats 3. The combat isn't turnbase cringeass, pre-prepared everything, speedtuning bullshit. AND ALSO has parry and perfect dodge 4. For the story, don't wanna expect anything because i've played genshin sumeru's and fontaine's (which was insanely amazing for me btw). Also the fact that back then i've played alot of great, even masterpiece story games like The Witcher 3 lmao 5. Darker tone, with post-apocalypse theme are ok for me, since one of the best openworld games for me were Prototype & Prototype 2 and the ultimate reason i want to complete WuWa is because im a completionist, so, wish me luck guys lol
Depends on how you define succeed, if succeed by grabbing hardcore players then yeah but succeed by being top 10 gacha revenue and popularity wise then doubt so
@@astrayvaledias7398 Disagree with top 30-50, since games in that range don't even make 1 million dollars, and the game already has around 11 million total preregistrations in cn alone, making it one of the most pregistered gacha game's, period.
I hope its a genshin killer. Have a older brother, talks about genshin as god. And is a fanatic of the game. Im waiting till this game gets out, so i don't have to support genshin impact. I luv the asthetic of thos game, and the desgin of each character.
Love that you can collect monsters like Pokemon and you can do it with friends too. Farming in an open world map with friends is much more fun than a dungeon type. I hope we can see players in our friend list in the city. It's fun to bump into them.
Adding onto the weapon banner in PGR, it’s a mixed bag. Some weapons are absolutely crucial to their characters kit for optimized DPS while others are neglectable. It’s only gotten worse with the newer S rank characters now need their signatures to perform optimally or at least not as scuffed.
But its not that you cant clear content in the game as F2p right? I myself playing the game for so long. Its already a miracle that a gacha game is letting you get every limited s rank character and getting free s rank characters frequently. I know few of those 6 star weapons are really good but you can still clear it with 5* weapon. Also there is a way to get 6* signature for few characters (not all) if you spend wisely and a little bit of luck. Also weapon banners are permanent not like genshin where its limited time only. So you can get a particular weapon whenever you want
My issue with the game is that most of the characters are just black and white with a hint of blue, green, red, or something else. There's only a couple mild standouts, and thats kind of bad for a game that's supposed to sell you the characters. They all look incredibly boring even aside from the color palette.
Here's what I learned from Genshin: Choose characters based on gameplay, animations, and quality of life improvements for farming. Only pull for multiple 5-star copies if it significantly changes gameplay. You don’t need to have all characters. I know some play to have a 100% collection, but as a free-to-play player, you'd have to invest a crazy amount of time to do that. Keep in mind that you can only play a few characters at a time, so instead of pulling for every banner, learn how to skip. Use the trial wisely. If you think you missed a character that, upon your initial testing, you don’t like, but then realize you want it, that’s the purpose of rerun. At least now you have something to look forward to. Don’t copy the team composition of other players or the recommended team composition if it means you have to play a character that you don’t want. You may feel forced into using that character because they're the best pair for your favorite character. It's better to have characters in your team that you really connect with instead of having the optimal damage team. Don't pull for weapons; stick with what's available and swap out when necessary. You can always get weapons during reruns. Read the dialogue and get into the storyline for a more immersive experience. Skipping dialogue makes the world feel empty and the journey meaningless. Don’t grind for artifacts; like weapons, artifacts are end-game content meant to enhance your characters' strength for finishing the Abyss quickly. It's not necessary, as you can complete the Abyss without optimal artifacts, though maybe not as swiftly. If you haven’t immersed yourself in the story or unlocked all puzzles yet, spending time farming artifacts seems crazy. Rushing through the game is mainly for content creators who need to be first. For everyone else, rushing ruins the experience.
"that’s the purpose of rerun. At least now you have something to look forward to." Unless you're waiting for Eula.... poor people who want her have never gotten a rerun.
Thank you so much for your opinion and experience from the 2nd CBT. Personally I didnt pay much attention to WW until yesterday, but I must admit that it slowly start to catch me and videos like yours help me to understand their system much better (since i have literally no idea what they put in there at all..)
I hope the can have some ideas to solve echoes issue. They can create a salvage system for echoes to obtain a specific currency to trade with NPC that sells those tuners. They really need to reduce the RNG on echoes system.
That's kinda sad. I managed to stick with Genshin because I don't need good artifacts. Abyss Floor 11 is very doable and Floor 12 is clearable with less than full stars. If this game wants me to grind to do the endgame, on top of the massive time investment required for a free to play game, I think I'll pass.
Lets be honest. When was the last time people climb rocks in genshin? Cuz since Sumeru (actually since Inazuma but theres mechnic was kinda ass) now for the most part it is just "spider man" flying around mechanic haha
@@alec2979I mean in genshin exploration is an actuall mechanic of the game. You can brutforce this piece of rock but slowly OR did a puzzle (if it presents) and unlock flying thingy to make a fast path. Even ToF has cool gadgets which help you to tavell and make it interesting like jetpack, hoverboard, catcrew etc... In WuWa it is just basic run from point A to point B. So what the purpose of open world then...
Chenyu vale just dropped and has loads of climbing most of the Fontaine oculus were on top of cliffs requiring to climb. There's a reason why people have a big incentive to pull for characters that have mobility skills play it without any of those and it's straight up suffering
You didnt mention OST, and overall graphics and character/world design. OST in GI is absolutely amazing, it instantly mesmerizes you as you enter the game and you can't "unhear" it after a few days in the game. Add to this soft and bright colouring, different regions with different characters and their backstories/designs tied to these specfic regions....yes the lore is quite deep and intresting. I think these are the main reasons why people play and love Genshin.
Also update about Wuwa The skipping can work for story HOWEVER they will all only let you skip the unnecessary topics of it, So that way you can focus on the important parts.
This is by far the best Wuthering Waves analysis I've seen. I'm very picky with the games I play, so I wasn't sure if this game was actually going to be nice for me, because I had so many doubts. Now, I actually think I might play, because even if there are critics to be made, I know about them and I can say they won't ruin my game experience, since they are similar to Genshin troubles. I was specially worried about the characters, the story and the gameplay, and by what you said, they have similar quality to genshin, so I think I will like it!
I used to be excited for this game. But I am just so tired of Gacha and RNG games. I just miss the good old PSP games like the monster hunter universe. Just hunt the monster and get strong. And hunt more difficult monsters to get even stronger. Straight to the point armor set stats and no BS. And wonderful ecosystems and fire sound tracks.
My only takeaway in an unbiased view on Wuthering Wave after watching podcasts, videos of numerous youtuber on this. Genshin is too easy for people that actually play the game for the intent on hardcore combat. Wuthering wave (CBT 2) is too grindy for casual player. And i trully refer to the TRUE casual here. I refer casual as People who wants to do contents with less than an hour of playtime each day because of...i dont know...coming home from work then doing chores around the house then just want to relax going around doing commission and picking mints 😂. I personally see the combat on Wuthering as superior. But i just love the colors that genshin world have. Think of it like how i love sekiro more than dark souls 3 because how much VIBRANT color it is in the screen. These 2 games target different niche inside of the gacha gamer community
7:42 this is such a turn off for me tbh. if i like a character, i will use them no matter if they're strong or not, i'll try to incorporate them in any team im running. this also true conversely, if i dont like them, i dont care if they can 1 tap a boss, i wont use them/level them. This also feels like an artificial difficulty so you will pull more characters/wont stay on a meta (in case they fuck up balancing like bennet for example). idk tho, i'll have to see it later

I suppose if Wuthering waves does good and keeps up it will be a solid competition for Genshin Alongside project Mugen whenever it comes out
I think people forgot what they dealing with , the echo system subs stats is probably just a nice bonus. Yall comparing this to genshin with stats stick , WuWa is more focus with your own skills than just stats.
THIS!! in Genshin we're being carried by our character and artifact stats, meanwhile WuWa (since its inherit their previous game~ PGR) your own skill is the one carried you! so... git gud peeps!
Honestly, I don't think the echo system looks as bad as artifacts. For one thing, in my understanding, you only need one echo per character instead of 5 or 6 diferent artifacts, right? Also, the echoes themselves being farmable on the overworld while the mats are stamina-gated probably makes it easier to choose when and how deep you want to get into farming and micromanagement without worrying too much about losing efficiency. (You can go super deep into echo farming and stat micromanagement, or you can just burn your stamina into mats and leave the rest for later if don't have time, without worrying about wasting resources in the proccess.) Finally... The fact that you are farming actually playable monsters looks much more exciting than artifacts.

I would accept if they showed all substats but hid how low and how high the substat value is. That way you would only roll the ones with desired substats
18:19 why do you think they are allowed to be animated so well? 18:24 why do you think they allowed the upsidedown backroud(that probably isn't actually used to it's advantage)? 18:30 why do you think they allowed it to have such high quality compared to everything else? Hmm, I wonder.
The funniest part is when the CCs said "the devs are listening to us, they're redoing 90% of the story!". Brother, developing a live service game/MMO is like doing a marathon, the development doesn't stop, Genshin's main team are probably already working on Natlan final episode by now. The reason why Wuthering Waves can redo the story is because they haven't start running yet, let's see if they can maintain content release every 6 weeks constantly for 3 years. I came from a game like World of Warcraft, in that game, we get like 3 patch/story update every expansion, and every expansion last for 2 years. New patch every 6 weeks is absurd if you came from other game.

@@marcoxoxo572PGR is a completely different genre from WW and Genshin. Genshin's main success comes from its open world. It's incredibly challenging for a game studio to pump out a new map with exploration, quests and story every 3 months. Genshin can only afford to do this because of how big their team is and how much revenue they generate. As someone who is lucky enough to get into CBT2 for WW, I can tell you that the open world feels slightly empty right now and needs a lot more content to have it on par with Genshin. What made genshin so special is the amount of detail they put into the open world, the detail they put into the OST, and the amount of world building they managed to stuff in one game.
@zeccy337 How are the OSTs in the CBT so far? I am not so much into hard endgames, Story,OSTs and open world play a huge part in how much I enjoy the game. (Reason I am still playing genshin even after 1200+ days)

I have an unpopular opinion about skipping dialogue. I feel like it's so disrespectful to developers and writers of a game. Even though the team usually tries to cather to many different players, there's also an intent behind every game. Don't like storytelling? Then play a game that's not storytelling focused? To me that's like complaining about water being wet after willingly throwing yourself into a puddle.
Disagree, some people just want to mash buttons without caring about the lore, remember that if you advertise yourself as an action game and you know not everyone cares about the characters' personalities/worldbuilding and the characters and monsters are just different kits to work around, with negligible story. If you want storytelling then go play visual novels. They never said they were a visual novel.

ppl who overhype Wuwa as genshin killer is insane. You have to remember ppl who compalin about games and rewards are loud minority which is proven to be true in how well Xianyun Banner(whixh is boycotted banner) go. Do ppl really thought casual players from Genshin trying Wuwa which is soul like Difficulty and complex combat and be like Wait this game is better than Genshin and then drop the Genshin entirely?Lol. It's like saying minecraft will die coz there is eldem ring. They both open world but not a same game which will make different community. I just wish WuWa won't backfire from overhype like Tof did. I hope Kuro games successfully release Wawa and change the company budgets just like how Genshin does to the Mihoyo itself.
Some i want to add : The boycotted banner even broke some sale records. (According to some articals which or may not be true and reliable) which only proves the point of vocal minority even more Everything Hoyo does is calculated. They have data, not us.
About the echoes, I think it's mostly fine as long as it doesn't require stamina, that being said an element picker, or substat reroller or stuff like that would be cool, PGR has those things already, and hsr has self-modeling resin, I don't think it would break the game if they gave us 2-3 a month + events
Thank you for the review, I was on the fence about getting in on Wuthering Waves, everything seems about what I would expect from a gatcha but that echo system........ man that sounds rough and the fact that they decided to keep the abysmal 50/50 system from genshin, yea that is a deal breaker for me
Idk why so many people are excited for this game. Yall dropped Genshin because it got repetitive and boring and are picking up a game that is almost exactly like Genshin??? 💀 I wonder how long until that game gets the Tower of Fantasy treatment

I care less about if it copies Genshin in terms of systems. But it really bothers me how the UI, UX, and even art assets are blatantly stolen and copied without much effort to change them. It's like a failed version of that "Can I look at your homework?" "Yeah just make sure to make it look different". It just tells me they had really good system designers and devs for all the stuff they did different.....then hired like 3 artists. It's lazy. So so so lazy. Even if other parts are NOT lazy, leaving it with that UI/UX just proves they don't take their game seriously, because it's not even trying to pretend it's a different game in that aspect. It just picked and chose where it would be different.

1:05 I'm surprised there's a lot of people that don't know how to get unstuck when running walls. Kuro literally made a parkour move just for those situation. 🤦🏻 Also, there's an option to farm echoes in a dungeon/domain. You don't need to push yourself to run around the world to farm echoes. You only need farm a monster's echo once in the world, then farm more of it in a dungeon/domain.
NOTE as of March 22, 2024: The developers have adressed the issues with Echoes farming, you can check it out here wutheringwaves.kurogame.com/en/news/detail/690
Basically, a lot of randomization such as the range of substat values & efficiency of using Tuners have been adressed.

There is some misinformation in this video aswell. Let me clarify
-Shiny echoes DO have significant difference, and the difference is that they counted as different entity from a same monster. For a context, you in order to have set bonus, you need to 5 DIFFERENT monster echoes, if you stack same monster it will only count as one, this is why you can't have 2 boss echo for crit stat and have set bonus. And shiny is the way to bypass it, you can have shiny boss echo, and one normal echo, and they both will count for the set bonus (tested it myself)
-You can feed other echoes to lvl up echoes, but they have to be cap lvl
-You said that tuning items had to be farmed only on tacet fields, which is also not true, you can also obtain them in echo exp dungeon, which gives more echo exp, but no echoes (that mostly pile of trash anyways) and cost less echo.
Probably the best video I've seen on Wuthering Waves lol. Appreciate your viewpoint!
This lets me equip both a normal Morning Aix and a shiny Morning aix and still get the 5 set bonus.
thanks for the useful info
I thought they said if you get a shiny that you could equip it as a “skin” to your other echoes
Well fortunately, this is not that hard to fix...they only need to focus more on making the system balanced
All it needs is QoL changes. I'm not too worried
I mean they either allow you to farm mainstat echos without substats for "free" or they lock them behind grinding them out just like Genshin with stamina.
UGHHHH YESS ECHO OHUUUUU YAAA 😩😩😩
I’ve always said this “The echoes system is no better than Genshin’s artifacts”. Both require multiple RNG layers. However, we cannot say it’s better or worse until the game launches, and we get to see how often we get a particular material or rewards generally.
Players have been complaining about it a lot, and since this is Kuro Games we're talking about, we can safely assume they'll actually improve it.

@@artievy5512 For WW thou, I hope they can optimizes and tune the end game content well and make players less dependent on substats or perfect echos set.

Thanks for clarifying the echo system, i didnt know the rng was 4 layers deep
Hopefully they make changes to it, but if not, i think ill just live with grinding for main stats only lol

I hope they change the echo system. I am fine with uncloking substat over time but not be able to lvl up echos with other echos is kinna suck.
I actually think they should let you dissolve echoes so you can craft the exp.
Considering this is from Kuro Games, the same company that created PGR, I say we won't have to worry about the echo system soon, since they actually actively listen to player feedback.
You can level up echoes with others if they are xp capped (if you get sucky substats you can put it into a different echo)
i hope for the echoes system, they change how it shows the susbtats.
rather than unlocking a random sub per lvl, make it show what substats we got at lvl 0 but by unlocking it via leveling up, the % can be random
Yep. They gotta show the locked substats already so i’d know if i wanna unlock them. and i’ll just level up the substats with the regular rng.

Well luckily this isn't Genshin's dev...Kuro will absolutely change it
I hope they make it simple like elden ring, and the open world are become your fighting and exploring adventures not shitty chore.

Exactly. OSTs and even voice acting(Tried only EN) was very bland in ToF for me, which made me drop after couple of months.
@@zeccy337 I always thought Mondstadt was incredibly generic, insert European (always only German) inspired place that you've seen a million times.

It will make it's name in the genre but it will never rise anywhere near to cause any form of harm to Genshin.

Okay, now THAT is the review I was waiting for. Thank you so much for elaborate analysis!
For those who are concerned about the echo system in WuWa here is something you need to consider:
*Substat reroll* for those who have not played PGR, Kuro Games already has an existing system that allows for rerolling memory resonance basically the closest equivalent to a sub-stat.
Only got verina to waveband 2 tho the rest are 1
its a lot of fun doing combos, ultimates, dodging and parrying which all keep the combat fresh.
I doubt any 4 stars weapon will have crit main stats
For obvious reason but crit Is not the only good thing if the f2p options are good like In hsr then it will be fine

I actually thought Hoyo developed this as well, the similarity is extreme. This could easily turn into a lawsuit.
at least a review where theres no ranting about how bad genshin is and focuses on what i really want to know. its unfortunate this game isn't available in my region
Is not out yet
Appreciate the nuance you put into the videos highlighting all the caveats for the seemingly "better" systems.
Obviously that might be a bit too much for Wuthering waves, and we don't want this game to be too f2p friendly (otherwise Kuro really wouldn't be able to get much money cause PGR is already to generous)
But like would be cool if this item is like available during events and limited in amount.
Yup I think think this system really only needs adjustments. I suggested this as well
Seeing the Palworld sucess I really wish where was a "Genshin copy" with pokemon like creatures to play with.
@Kira-hr5iuthat sounds like a harsh criticism. I just think they have uninspiring generic urban punk designs.
@Kira-hr5iu that's preference now. And also they succeed showing different faces and body types.
I wouldn’t mind a masculine looking waifu,..

1. 240 energy max capped with 6min per regen
2. There's alot i can do in the openworld without using the energy, even tho as you mentioned, we need the energy later to unlock substats
3. The combat isn't turnbase cringeass, pre-prepared everything, speedtuning bullshit. AND ALSO has parry and perfect dodge
4. For the story, don't wanna expect anything because i've played genshin sumeru's and fontaine's (which was insanely amazing for me btw). Also the fact that back then i've played alot of great, even masterpiece story games like The Witcher 3 lmao

Here's what I learned from Genshin:
Choose characters based on gameplay, animations, and quality of life improvements for farming.
At least now you have something to look forward to."
Unless you're waiting for Eula.... poor people who want her have never gotten a rerun.
@@blackkat101 Eula was run three times
This is for players who consider floor 12 easy and want even harder content.
Lets be honest. When was the last time people climb rocks in genshin? Cuz since Sumeru (actually since Inazuma but theres mechnic was kinda ass) now for the most part it is just "spider man" flying around mechanic haha
i main Wanderer and use him as an helicopter
@@alec2979I mean in genshin exploration is an actuall mechanic of the game. You can brutforce this piece of rock but slowly OR did a puzzle (if it presents) and unlock flying thingy to make a fast path.

Also update about Wuwa
The skipping can work for story
HOWEVER they will all only let you skip the unnecessary topics of it,
So that way you can focus on the important parts.
ONe more time im gonna hear "genshin killer" im gonna puke.
7:42 this is such a turn off for me tbh.
if i like a character, i will use them no matter if they're strong or not, i'll try to incorporate them in any team im running. this also true conversely, if i dont like them, i dont care if they can 1 tap a boss, i wont use them/level them. This also feels like an artificial difficulty so you will pull more characters/wont stay on a meta (in case they fuck up balancing like bennet for example).
idk tho, i'll have to see it later
also the ui/ux..
holy mother of god they worked on PGR which is very nice so why must it look like genshin 2.0?
@@MaruhodoPlace holder...and bruh😑 if you have played PGR you should have known that the UI is dogsh*t when it was released Glibally right? If you have only played it this year or last year then the UI already experienced different UI revisions

Genshin actually increasing Resin to 200 in response to WuWa lol

(You can go super deep into echo farming and stat micromanagement, or you can just burn your stamina into mats and leave the rest for later if don't have time, without worrying about wasting resources in the proccess.)
Finally... The fact that you are farming actually playable monsters looks much more exciting than artifacts.
17:00 - to correct, PGR has 80/20% for weapon banner and 100% for debut character banner.

Hmm, I wonder.
As usual, appreciate the honest review on WW. Main reason that I subbed.

At least this time you can no longer use the "bad marketing" excuse.

Everything Hoyo does is calculated.
