I was at this gig, Sean Harris came running on at the start in a purple Grim Reaper costume. Megadeth were the best band of the day.

i saw them in december 08 and they were energetic and they still play 20 songs a show at their age. my show they played 5 magnetic songs and 15 old ones including master, blackened, one, enter sandman, and seek and destroy was the finale. seek is the finale most of the time.

Who cares whos better. Both great Metal bands, they both had great musicians in they bands.
That's the first time I've actually heard Marty play the Poland solo almost perfectly...it sounded awesome. Usually he just shreds something Marty-like and calls it a day. If I closed my eyes, I'd think Chris was playing.

The crowd didnt suck mate,,believe me i was there with my brother,front left of the snakepit,the crowd was loud as fuck,and your right the audio didnt pick the crowd noise,the only thing wrong with megadeth that day was the dodgy jumper Dave was wearing,but we can let him off on that..the guy is a living legend
It was loud on the day, I don't think the MTV cameras have captured any audio from the crowd.

I was 16 and in the crowd.. 2 funny things.. when Metallica came on and sang seek and destroy, James put the mic into the crowd for the "seek and destroy" part.. he got 2 good ones and on the third he thrust the mic in front of this little nerdy kid ,his voice cracked like his balls were dropping.. the whole stadium started laughing. poor kid lol. Megadeath came on they were so quiet that a rumor spread around the stadium that Metallica had sabotaged their equipment lol.. it was an awesome show.
haha they had no mics infront of the stage for the audience so all you hear is the band excellent:D

@TheThrashKing you're right I think both bands are great in their own right... however for me Megadeth will always be superior where quality is concerned.... there is melody in their music listen to any Megadeth track and then listen to Metallica (noise). As Scott Ian from Anthrax said... watching Magadeth play is like watching a Jazz Band play metal.... without DAVE MUSTAINE THERE WOULDN'T BE TRASH.
@borisgf I completely agree with you about Dave being the pioneer of thrash, but on Metallica I disagree. A lot of people would say Megadeth is a bunch of noise as well, but we both know that is incorrect. Do I think Megadeth is more melodic than Metallica, no. Kirk Hammett's solos are much more melodic than Daves. But Daves solos are much faster and complex, as well as his rift writing. I like Megadeth more than Metallica, but i'm not ignorant about the music. Not saying your ignorant btw.

i was there too. wasn't there a fuck up with marty's amp at the start. people said metalica had fucked with his amp. megadeth stole the fucking show and dave mustain should thank hetfield for giving him the chance to shine like he has. its sad he feels that he is always second best to metallica when nothing could be further from the truth. metallica had too sell out and go mainstreem to get to the top. megadeth have always stayed true to them selfs.

yeah those arent their "great songs". they said a few shows after mine that they are on a mission to play songs they dont play as much, such as leper messiah which they last played in 89'. i give them 10/10

Why does everyone bash Kirk Hammett? Seriously, Dave has no ill will against him anymore, so why does everyone else? I will admit, Dave Mustaine is a better guitarist than Kirk, but Kirk is almost just as big of a part of Thrash Metal as Dave. Why can't we all unite and see what Megadeth AND Metallica truly are? The two greatest bands of all time. What, would you have rather had Dave Mustaine in Metallica? I'll tell you, I wouldn't, because only ONE great band would exist instead of TWO.
