First time buyers don’t have to pay stamp duty if your property is up to a certain price and if you are buying a property you don’t have to pay estate agent fees! Thought I would clear that up :)
I really like you both and I think this is such a helpful video on educating young people on the things school seems to completely miss out. It just doesn’t sit right that you are saying save half of your earnings and weigh up sacrificing designer items or holidays to support saving for a deposit. This is great advice, but from the outside it doesn’t look like you have done these things.... and this isn’t a bash on you because you can’t control the upbringing you have had, but for most people it isn’t particularly easy to save a % of their wages. A lot of people don’t have the privilege of coming from families that were able to help and allowed you to save a good portion of your earnings. It isn’t as easy as it’s been made out to be for those that are potentially living month to month to pay their bills, and it doesn’t look like (from the content posted) you really sacrificed any holidays or designer items to save - I think it’s great you’ve been in a position to still enjoy luxury things and save at the same time, as have I but this just isn’t the reality for most people.
Please make a whole video or even series on buying your first property, it’s so confusing and never gets taught like you said, but even what you’ve said so far has given more advice and been helpful, super interesting so please share more xx
Hey angels, fyi - when you buy a new build house there’s also a service charge for the maintenance of the green space around the development and the roads etc. Older houses I don’t believe come with it, but definitely with new build houses! However, we don’t start paying the service charge until all the houses are built. Whilst they’re still building then the developers are responsible for that. So for where I live, they’re building for approx another 4ish years, so we don’t pay the service charges until then. Just letting you know angels as you mentioned it towards the very end! And there’s also what you call “freehold” which is when you own the land your house is on (which is always recommended) or “leasehold” which you only own the house and someone else owns the land it’s on, with leasehold you have to pay ground rent - so mortgage for your house plus ground rent. Hope that helps when you come to making a full video about it 🥰♥️
Super helpful video girls, if you can do more vids on bills etc that'd be amazing! And your right, they really should teach things like this at school because it's insanely overwhelming! xxx
Loved this girls!! Thanks for the house chat, I’m currently in the process of selling my first apartment to buy a house and I still find it SO confusing and overwhelming 😂😂 Would absolutely love some more conversations like that as it’s nice to listen to people in not such a formal way, you know xx
I’m pretty sure it’s 13 you can get your first bank account, I remember going to get one! I can still look back to when I first got the card and the highest my balance ever was back then was like £20 😂Xx
Love this! It’s good to note that mortgage brokers don’t need to charge as they get a fee from the lender. Mine was free and brilliant but before him I was robbed out of £400 from another one as I didn’t know this 😂
GUYS WE DIDNT MEAN TO NOT PUT THE INTRO IN LOL!!! So sorry!!!!!💕💕💕💕💕
its okay ahaha
Loved this girls! Definitely a full video on the buying and saving side of things please! 🤍
