Good retirement podcast, so many learning at this age she’s enjoying affordable labor services which is expensive in west . But it felt like she had wonderful life in UK as well and she didn’t gain much coming back to India in later years. This is life we can’t predict thanks for sharing Avinash 👌
I don't know what you mean by not gaining much coming back to India. The first thing l gained is peace of mind, plenty of spare time, availability of services. If l didn't have a good life, l couldn't live in England for 42 years. That doesn't mean l am not happy in India. My husband passed away and l dread to think how l could ever cope on my own in England. There is a always a right time right place for everything. Destiny over which we don't have any control also plays a big role in our life.
@scientistswife Thank you so much. It's strange how situation changes you. I was a bag of nerves and never a strong person. I am trying hard. These senior living places are not only for people who lost their spouse,or for those whose children are living abroad but also for couples who choose to stay here for security. We never had children but l know some ladies here who don't want to stay with their grown up children under the same roof and what better place to escape than a retirement home. They do go home time to time. These are usually the women who have their own pension or get their late husband's pension and don't depend on their children.

I expect this decision to return to and retire in India is purely based on financials. If this lady has had a productive working life, she will have earned sufficiently to be able to have these life choices. Stark reality is the cost of care in India is much, much cheaper if she were to choose a residential care home. She would probably end up selling up her home for the same in the UK.

@prashantnanda6680 Your concept of Hinduism is strange. I naver had any problem living in India and never will. What has fijian got to do with this. Your comment is not being very respectful.
I hope they don’t get frustrated with the banking system and the countless procedures to get the smallest thing done in India. NRIs would love to invest in India but the government has made it so difficult to do that. India is still very low in ease of getting things done. Employees in banks, financial institutions and government still don’t have customers friendly approach, and partly so for the government bureaucracy.
@ About 18 months ago and the bank kept asking for different things each time and also lost all the original forms and nothing got done. My colleagues have similar experience and are frustrated with the procedures. The private banks make so much money, but would not open a satellite offices in USA and ask many forms with confidential information to be mailed to them from USA.
First of all it's a common rule to keep the copies of the originals or keep it on your phone. Common sense. People in India, now a days hardly use any cash. Even my car cleaner have phone pe and google pay apps on his phone. Only people mainly elderlies who can't use Internet banking visit banks. You can open accounts on line and do all transactions sitting at home. Indian government knows better than you whether and when a satellite system should be installed in USA. What confidential documents you are talking about? I am not with you. I have come back to India and I am not frustrated by the services of the banks. In fact, lndia's UPI system has been introduced in many countries.
@citizenjosie714 nightmare for the people who are not comfortable with internet banking. Anyway, don't bother to come to India. Stay in your dream country.

@@charmaine8512 sorry, couldn't understand what are trying to say.
@@SUJAMUKI think she is trying to say after 42years in uk returning to india brain would be confused if you are Brit or an Indian. Not sure if She is saying Just like Fijians if she will be faced with more problems in India. I think she doesn’t understand that overseas indians don’t have indian passport on return after 3 years they are eligible to get it back. Indian culture teaches us to respect birth place and work face with equal respect, part of Hinduism which others struggle to understand 😊
@prashantnanda6680 Your concept of Hinduism is strange. Haven't you ever heard of OCI?(overseas citizen of India ) that's as good as Indian passport and gives you all the rights of an lndian citizen except the right to vote.
When was the last time you interacted with indian banks. No need to go to banks, online transfers, UPI, etc
Very true! It's a nightmare!
@citizenjosie714 nightmare for the people who are not comfortable with internet banking. Anyway, don't bother to come to India. Stay in your dream country.
