My first thought on the synthetic was as a booster and over blanket for my down quilt in cold conditions. If i replaced my synthetic jacket with this too, the extra weight could be worth it. Good value too. Thanks Dave, you always manage to make me smile 🙂
had 2 of the down ones for about 8 months now. packs down small and use it on wild camps and family camps of just outdoors in the garden. The fact you can open it out and use it as another sleeping layer is great.Found we've started to use it more and more. Works really well with my Fjallraven rain poncho too. Actually makes a half decent pillow.
I have a many years old Outdoor Research synthetic sleep bag that has draw string openings to let my arms and feet through for campsite mobility and easy tasks. My campmates over the years have had a laugh when they see me exit tent while wearing my sleeping bag, but on cold nights I can sit in camp chair, cook (being careful) and walk round a bit. To be honest, I've taken many a wee outside my tent, cold nights and mornings, while still 80% in the bag. Not good in rain of course, but most of my camping has been in the Southwest US where the sky is clear most of the time.
I Like the honcho poncho ( probably in blue though )... would consider the down one , though don't think it fits my brief for kit. It doesn't look like it would make a terribly good quilt . Therefore it only performs one job.. thanks for the data.. hope you feel better soon . Take care out there.
Shame about the COVID hope you get better soon, I saw these on offer for 98€ where I am, last night I was out any it was 18 degrees in my tent 14 this morning, I took a down jacket and a quilt but I was too warm, this would of been perfect for my trip yesterday. How is it to sleep in ? Is there a limit rating for the poncho?

Good stuff. I tried it under a rab silponcho too and found that a great combo. Good point about the pillow, I wish I had mentioned that. Cheers

I have not tried sleeping under either yet, but go for it. Which one was on offer?
@@Fellmandave1 after a second look the down was the more expensive one at 250€ ish.
what do you reckon the comfort rating would be for the down one ?
It's a very light thing, and I am not a quilt user. But, I am a pretty cold sleeper, so for me, in thermals, around plus 12c
Looks like a !st April product announcement.
My sense of humour Peter!
