    Having purchased the AT LP120XBTUSB I can find no faults with this turntable it works like a dream having been using vinyl for close on to 55years now I can honestly recommend it

      the lp 60 is automatic and you can just press start and the vinyl starts automatically and the arm will return by itself when its finished. lp 120 dont have this feature. this is a killer for me. i dont like the lp 120 because of this. i prefer not having to be worried about placing my stylus at the good spot and having to make sure i go remove it fast when the vinyl has ended to not damage anything. also , the lp 60 has a belt and it is known that the belt is better than a direct drive because the direct drive can sometimes bring noise which the belt dont do. a belt is also easier to replace that a motor i guess. the lp 120 stylus does cost more than the lp 60 stylus and the turntable also.

    • @armandotrujillo4166
      @armandotrujillo4166 7 месяцев назад

      Well I would say the 120 is more expensive for a reason. The tone arm is adjustable to every difference heads you can place, which is something more professional I would say, and I can tell you, definitely the direct drive would cause less noise than the motor and the band, it has more parts in the assembly, the LP 60 has a motor too, so both has motor but one has also band, pulleys etc, more complex and possibility to cause noise. If it plays automatically the when you want to move the tone arm manually, you may damage the mechanism. The LP 120 has a mechanism that allows you to place the stylus on the record smoothly, and take it out same way. If you don’t realize when the record finishes, at least my records have athe end like a groove loop to avoid the stylus go any further. I would say LP60 is good for people that would just like to take it easy and listen the music from vinyl. The LP120, is more for people that are more into the “play vinyl art” if you will. For those that would like to be more “professional” in the subject.

      @@armandotrujillo4166 hey i respect your opinion but i dont think its about being professional to choose having a 120 model over the 60. if you want to use a turntable professionally , i dont think u will get any of those really. on the lp 60 you do not need to change the cartridge model and its fine using the one provided with the lp 60. you only have to change the stylus when it gets old thats all. personally i got a turntable to listen to music and the fun of having vinyls and i prefer not having the trouble of use it manually. its very cool just push a button and the turntable starts and then stops automatically. i have the 60 model and honestly i dont hear any sound other than the music. no motor sound or anything. i use a 200 dollars soundbar and im pretty sure having a 120 would not change anything in the sound. thats a personal choice which model you want. i prefer save money and have an automatic turntable and i think the 60 model is awesome. its already something to change the vinyl sides and even push the button each half hour or so to start the music again. also having to mantain vinyls like clean them and store them. some prefer play mp3 or cd which are even less trouble. if you really want to be professional and start work as a dj or something , then u better look for a 2000-3000$ turntable. :)

    • @armandotrujillo4166
      @armandotrujillo4166 7 месяцев назад

      Yeah I mean, obviously a professional would not use any of these models, that’s why I used (“”) for the word “professional”. I would say the 60 is way more easy to set up and play your records. I agree with you that you don’t hear other noise than the music, my point is mechanically, out of the 2 systems, the one with the band would make more noise first, that doesn’t mean that necessarily the LP60 is making noise. I think there are models for all tastes. Me, I am more hands on guy, and I just find amazing to set up my turntable, I really enjoy it, besides listen to the music. The LP 120 also is heavier which would bring more stability. But hey, both systems are ok. I am 42 years old and I am getting new records, and re discovering the old records of my late father, so I’m dealing with new and more than 50 year old records. I found this equipment amazing and I feel comfortable to handle it. Also I got my 14 year old son interested and he’s crazy about it, playing the records of his late granddad, which he didn’t met (my dad died 35 years ago). Enjoy your turntable as we are!!!

    • @maniaque37
      @maniaque37 7 месяцев назад

      @@armandotrujillo4166 yes question of choice but for the noise i read somewhere that actually the mechanical do more noise because of the motor. decoupling motor from platter eliminates a source of potential noise. i also use old records and i guess this will damage the stylus faster. i would not want to use some stylus that cost tons money. thats another reason why i like the lp60 because the stylus is not a huge price.

    Thanks for the outstanding setup video. I was really struggling with the setup and distortion. I thought that I was not getting the counterbalance correct, or had somehow damaged the stylus. After the video helped me confirm that the counterbalance setup was correct, I found the ultimate problem. The "Line" vs "Phone" setting. Once I set it to "Phono" the distortion immediately ceased. This is a great turntable. Thank you Audio-Technica.

    Great and comprehensive video that sticks to the point. My only two gripes are that it doesn't show how to mount the dust cover (turned out to be fairly easy, but I was a little afraid of breaking the hinges) and it doesn't explain the weird little black disc next to the Counterweight on 0:46 (which is, seemingly, never used...?).

    • @cheddix_
      @cheddix_ Год назад +4

      The little black disc is basically an adapter that you place over the metal center piece in the middle of the platter. This allows you to play 45 RPM records.

    The suggested grams for the counterweight and the anti-skate tracking value are so off. I’ve been trying to set this turntable up for quite a while now thinking it was some hardware issue, but after drastically changing the recommended settings, it finally worked a little bit. Since I had to eyeball it, the setup still isn’t where I was expecting or wanting it to be when I purchased it. I’m going to continue to try to fine tune it, but I just wish the recommended settings were at least a little closer. 🤦🏻‍♂️

      Hi there! As far as the turntable goes, it is only a bluetooth transmitting device, so it is only going to pair to one bluetooth receiving device at a time(bluetooth speaker, bluetooth headphone, or bluetooth receiver adapter). There are bluetooth speakers out there that are sold as a pair (like the Samson MediaOne BT3 or Kanto YU4 for example) so you can pair one device(like the turntable) and have it play in stereo out of both speakers. • @AudioTechnicaUSA
      @AudioTechnicaUSA  2 года назад +1

      Hi there! When replacing the stylus with the same one, it is not necessary to rebalance the tonearm, as the weight of the combined cartridge, stylus, and head shell has not changed. You would want to rebalance the tonearm when the head shell or cartridge has been replaced, since it is highly unlikely that these would weigh the exact same as the previous components. -A-T USA

    Can the TT be used in 2 modes , separately. Connect to a Receiver (Denon DHA-800H) via the Phone connection to the Receiver which uses the Receiver's Phone Preamp built in AND also connect to BT speakers . I see that you cannot use BT while playing on the Receiver, but if the Receiver is turned off , can I simply switch the rear switch on the TT to Line without the need to disconnect from the Receiver?

    I could use some help as well. I recently replaced the headshell and cartridge that came with my Audio Technica AT-LP120XBT-USB turntable with an Ortofon Scratch Concorde MKII cartridge but there's a humming that begins very quietly and grows very loud gradually. I've tried adjusting the tone arm thinking that may be causing it but that doesnt help. I believe I may need to ground the tone arm since when I touch it the humming sounds fade away a little. When I put back the original cartridge the player plays like it should without said humming noise. Does any know the exact cause of the humming or how I can mitigate?

    • @AudioTechnicaUSA
      @AudioTechnicaUSA  3 года назад +3

      Hi July! This sounds like a classic case of acoustic feedback between the cartridge and the speaker(s). Try putting more distance between the turntable and the speakers.
      Note that this particular model Ortofon cartridge is a high-output design with an uncommonly high output voltage of 10.0 mV. This is more than twice that of the (AT-VM95E) cartridge that was provided. A doubling of cartridge output voltage yields a 6 dB increase in gain so in your case, there is 9 dB more gain when using the Ortofon Scratch compared to the supplied AT-VM95E (10.0 mV for the Scratch versus 4.0 mV for VM95E).
      A magnetic phono cartridge is basically a miniature microphone and the interaction between a cartridge and a speaker is very much like the interaction between a microphone and a speaker. When used in close proximity to one another a feedback loop can develop - particularly at higher gain levels, higher volume levels, and at lower frequencies.
      Phono cartridges are transducers, converting mechanical energy (generated by the musical signal modulated in the records groove which cause the stylus to vibrate) into electrical energy. The electrical energy (signal) which it produces is then amplified by the stereo amplifier or receiver, sent out to the speakers (which also vibrate in sympathy with the signal in order to reproduce it) and we hear this signal in the form of music. Similar to the way a microphone functions however, the acoustic sound pressure waves coming off the loudspeaker can also cause the stylus to vibrate. When the “signal” generated by the waves vibrating the stylus is amplified and reproduced by the speaker again, the feedback loop has been developed and the hum generated as a result continues to grow louder and louder with each loop. Thanks! - A-T USA
