Not a BIG wrestling fan, kinda a nostalgia thing to watch. Cyrus and disco thing is pretty entertaining to me so great job. People don't think macro they think micro. I wouldn't worry about what most people think and let's face it when looking at wrestling everything's a work.

Disco Inferno is a better seller than Sami Zayne as well as most of the wwe roster because like Disco said wrestlers today move through matches too quickly and need to sell longer for it to be believable and not just look like a mix of a dance routine and a gay porno such as wrestling does now-a-days because performers make it too obvious that it's choreographed. I'm with Disco on this one.

If you look at Disco's entrance at halloween havoc 1998, the crowd is cheering and dancing with him. He is crazy over at that point. He was a household name to wrestling fans.
If you tell someone who was familiar with wrestling in the late 90s, you say "remember disco inferno" everyone will say yes.
"Remember Lance storm, the guy with the Canadian gimmick" people will most likely say no.

Cyrus got over in ECW and his WWE run didn't work out but that seemed to be more about how managers couldn't get over in WWE.

His gimmick was ridiculously stupid but he was the right person to make it work but when that bell rang he knew what to do and when to do it. He knew when to attack, when they go on defense and went to taught in the match. But he does really believe that he was a much bigger deal and As a result has more credibility to talk when he wasn’t and he doesn’t

No matter how much you try to debate it nothing will change the fact that wrestlers don't know how to work anymore. Wrestlers know that the marks understand it's a work so they set up ridiculous spots and gimmicks that just aren't believable. We know it's fake but we must be able to suspend our disbelief. The matches will actually put buts in seats if everyone can suspend disbelief. If a company would use that simple formula Vince would be in second place before the next PPV. They don't just kill the town today they kill wrestling period. They kill the universe

I'm pretty sure that Disco or Lance drew a dime. Hell neither did Cyrus. Between all 3 of them not a single dime drawn. I'm saying that with all due respect for all of them. Lance has trained a lot of great talent. Cyrus/Callus is a good commentator and Disco ironically was by far the most over of the 3 in the 90s. None of them are draws so I'm not sure what would invalidate Disco's opinion relative to Storm' or Callus'.

I used to watch wrestling(WCW/WWF) a lot from the early 90's up until the early 2000's, and some TNA when Sting was around. I can't watch wrestling anymore because it is horrible now. I've never heard of or remember any of these guys, except for Disco Inferno. Even family and friends of mine that would only watch wrestling because I was watching it, would remember who Disco Inferno is. The other guys that think some obscure match in Japan, with wrestlers that nobody has ever heard of is the best match ever, are the same people that would probably think that Goldberg vs Hogan was a bad match. Guys like that took over wrestling and that is why nobody wants to watch it anymore.

Dancing and fixing his hair was part of his gimmick it doesn’t mean he isn’t qualified to break down the standards and fundamentals of how to create a match that resembles a real fight. Lance is still that 12 year old wrestling mark he was all these years later. Go watch how disco sold punches and kicks. I’ll take disco as an overall package to make money in the wrestling business over lances style any day. Especially in the US. Lance storms students aren’t the greatest either.
I liked Lance Storm back when he was with ECW, but here he comes across as a bit of an arrogant a-hole. Uh, Lance? Disco WAS great at selling. He wasn't a great offensive wrestler (he was competent), but he had a strong character and sold really well, so he made his opponents look really good. That's a skill that not everyone has, and not everyone is willing to do it to that degree.
For the record, I would put money on disco in a real fight against lance.

Great convo . I enjoyed it . Hears another markish term . Kings Road style . The AJPW (and NOAH) style in the early 90s for the most part . But IT DID have a totally different style than NJPW at the time . Strong Style i get why it comes off as offensive using that moniker as to say this is real and the rest is fake . But i think the translation from Japan may mean something slightly different. I could be wrong on that though . But those ARE two distinct styles if you watch a lot of Puroresu. Im a fan of it all though ! I love Lucha , Traditional american style , Super Junior , Kings Road , Strong Style , Hardcore , oldschool and anything in between . if its good , its good

There are some holes in Lance's arguments. First off, saying something along the lines of you don't watch a lot of this style of wrestling so you can't judge it, is mostly wrong. He likened it to being a fan of country and not liking rap, but hearing 1 song and saying it's not like the other rap songs. He says there's no merit to that. What is right about the statement is that not all rap, (not all Japanese style matches) is the same, like the negative critique implies. Where he is wrong, is that if someone who doesn't like a style, doesn't have a valid opinion, then that would mean that all negative opinions are completely invalid unless you like the music genre, or wrestling style, nor are you allowed to like a song or match from that genre or style.
2 While Disco was nothing special when it came to any aspect of wrestling, at least from a fan's perspective, if Lance did that poll, Disco would lose mostly because a guy like Steamboat or Sami was (is in Sami's case) a far more popular wrestler whether they were/are a better seller or not.
I'm not going to go Disco's holes, because he'd need some logic to his arguments first.
Wow how did I miss this? Used to love both of these guys but to be real I remember disco alot more than Lance and I have no clue who "cyrus" was before he became Don callis. Disco trying to be so polite, patient, and gracious with these guys letting them finish and giving a fair and rational view versus Lance and callis just ranting because they are mad.

I enjoyed both of their work. It's different. Serious heel vs goofy heal (to men only). It's entertainment for both gimmicks that can work for a show. It's ironic that Lance ended up with the stupid dancing gimmick in WWE. It was probably Vince trying to get a personality out of him. I couldn't image Malenko dancing or Lance before that gimmick, lol. It was like a Norman Smiley or Alex Wright gimmick. Disco was more entertaining I thought than the above for a middle-match event pop, but that gimmick wasn't going to last long. I think Disco and Buff had so much more charisma than Lance, but were not as good of high flying/matt wrestling as Storm could do. Lance in ECW always had amazing matches. Funny though I wasn't crazy about how Lance sold a punch. Sami Zayn's facial expressions when selling are soooo much more believable than Lance and Dean looking stoned when selling.

I love wrestling podcasts. But my brain can't process why people want to hear what disco inferno has to say about wrestling. I know he is a veteran with cred, but the dude is so ineloquent and sloppy with how he presents his thoughts. Like he doesn't believe his own words. He only sounds confident when he's just being generic or reinforcing the status quo.
I hate the forearm spot too but its no different than trading chops in my opinion.
Lance comes off really bad here imo
Lance sounds like a troll. It sounded like he was not listening and just looking for sound bites to pick apart. Hearing someone and listening to them is not the same.
Disco didn't seem to get rattled for the most part unlike Lance.
Now I don't feel bad for not liking him and flipping to the competition back in the day

Lance storm was a good wrestler. Not great.. His mic skills and charisma were horrible. He needs to show more respect.
Don has a great voice. Lance is great in the ring. Disco...had the best look of the 3. Charisma is negative when you combine the 3 of them. Lance and Don can be fun to listen to but DON GETS YOU NEED CHARACTERS FOR SPECIAL WRESTLING!
