Talespire is very cool indeed. Only reason I have yet to purchase it is that it does not in any way support systems. I'm not dropping Foundry, which automates almost everything on the system, to having to do everything by hand again. nah.
"How to Play" videos are fantastic ways to attract people to a game! You immediately know if it's a style you like, and are given basics to hit the ground running when you start.
As someone who bought Talespire because of this channel and swiftly benched it because it was too complicated, this is amazing. Talespire should pay you to make a masterclass on their vtt before wotc makes theirs
Yes! The first few hours are really tough. Once you get into the flow it's pure zen! I have a few tutorials on my channel that might help with building. 🙂
I actually use Talespire because of this youtube channel. Thank you so much for promoting it. Also the makers of Talespire, read my comment. He lead me to your game and I love using it for my campaign.
Holy shit. I've been using talespire as my main VTT basically since it came out. I never knew about double right click. or the flashlight. This is the best talespire tutorial on the internet.
Thank you Zee! You've been recommending it for years and with their new seats system I finally felt like I could afford it. Picked it up for my table but had trouble a few things which this video has solved completely.
Nice! I knew some of these tricks, but Shift+Click was new! Thanks, Ze! I also found the thought process behind this video was funny, "Lemme make a thing for my players," to "Wait a moment! SPONSOR!!"
Fun, informative, and probably the best advertisement for Talespire as it gives you a good/better idea of what's available, what's possible, and helps you skip the glorpy bits of learning some basic and useful stuff. Also that subtle map flex at the start was cool!
Heya folks, TaleSpire dev here. We're fixing the colliders on those arches, so they should be less of a pain soon (along with a few other little collider annoyances). Thanks again to Zee for the cracking video. Honestly, we'll probably be directing folks here to help them get started too!
Could you also fix the Fog of War issue? You know the issue of not having a real Fog of War that people had been asking for since the very conceptualization of your product. I originally bought the program hoping that it would be implemented, but over two years later all I see is asset packs and a symbiote system. The literal best feature you all created so far has only been making a free-version so non-GM's could finally get others to join without too much hassle. That still took you all over two years to implement.
This was a well done tutorial in explaining and showing each step, and why it may cause confusion and how to easily fix the problems. A lot of tutorials will be like fast click, but not show you how to fast click, or change characters name without telling you the keys that do that. You sounded nervous at times but it was very easy to digest.
I use Talespire for a while now because of you, and you just opened up my mind to a beautiful universe of possibilities. Until now I tought I was running free, but now you gave me wings and I realize I was just crawling
Am I going to use this virtual tabletop ever? No, probably not. Will I retain anything useful from watching this video? No, probably not. Do I regret watching it? No, not at all. Here's to you not having to give this tutorial again!
thanks for doing the tutorial! i keep seeing you advertise this virtual tabletop system and never really thought to look at it. now that you did, I'm kinda digging it.
YES! Talespire is incredible. Random encounter? Load up Tales Terrain to generate landscapes to your specifications. Need an intricate map? Someone has probably already made something similar, and it’s as easy as copy and pasting a single time. This is the gold standard for immersion and combat purposes.
@@Drankoii A mod that can be downloaded and accessed through the in-game menu. It opens up a small menu with varying sliders, biome options, etc. then creates it. It’s extremely seamless
For now my group plays at home but if one of us had to move too far, Talespire seems like the best solution to keep the campaign going. I would really like some more videos like this one to see what Talespire has in store !
Every time I've created maps they seem to take a lot more effort than I'd expect, though the camera stuff you covered here definitely affected some of it. I absolutely agree that a similar style video but for map creation would be *very much appreciated*.
@@Xaqaria I ultimately moved away from talespire after running a game in it for ~2 years. It’s an amazing to and the immersion was fantastic, but it was easily 2x the effort on my end to find or often create maps. I use Foundry now, which is a wonderful VTT, but I still kind of miss the 3D element of talespire.
1:35 I love the animation detail of the terrain being lifted when you need to look below it. It's like you're taking it off that part of the model IRL in order to see the miniature. To me, this indicates that it's being made by people who love playing tabletop games. I might give it a try based on that alone.
THANKS A LOT! I got TaleSpire from your ads, and already played a couple of games, and my players LOVE IT! We got most of the controls, but this video have showed me something new to learn! (i'm talking about that rmb double click. i have never used it) (oh! and that 4th ruler that ingame tutorial never cared to explain)
fr devs haven't update the ingame tutorial for some features and i had no idea what some of the buttons do or how to turn off that heaven light or how to make aoe spells last without taking the control from player (i do now)
Behold, the Impassable Archway! Forged of simple, earthen stone and mortar, it appears as a seemingly normal addition to anyone's garden, cave, or other natural landscape of interest. However, any attempt to pass through the Archway is met with an intangible force that prevents anyone from moving through it. I'm totally using this as a silly, little obstacle if I ever get to DM.
The most important thing about CTRL+C copying an existing miniature is that it keeps all of its stats. So if you use the in-game stats for stuff like AC, ammunition, or even ability scores, then all of that, the names, the size, and the HP is copied towards the paste of that specific mini that you CTRL+C copied. VERY handy if you're placing down multiple goblins for instance and you don't want to keep editing every single one of them
Well presented as always, sir. You get a lot of leeway for being entertaining. I'd love to tray tailspire, but finding a solid online group has been tough.
Zee, one of the main uses of the Tab key is to zee (hehe) where you put your INVISIBLE mini. Because you can make them invisible. And then... yeah... Seriously. I love this feature cause it lets me hide a bunch of stuff in plain sight and then BOOM!
Hey Zee, long time first time, I've been trying to learn how to build/play in Tale Spire for a while now and the tutorials out there for it are poo. I think Tale Spire should have you make more of these because this was great! Thanks for the video!
I bought this for myself and all of my friends. I have barely used it. I dont regret this purchase at all. My friends need to upgrade their potato computers!! I want to use it more.
Talespire is great. When they added custome mini support it was a game changer. Now they just need custom decoration and walls/floors. The selection is good don't get me wrong but I'm quite tired of mashing together the same 3 trees and rocks in different configurations to try and get unique looking nature
I've been using Owlbear Rodeo, but I gotta admit, this looks pretty slick. If I wasn't a stickler for how my maps look, I might be willing to give this a try. This looks far too complicated to map build for me. And the folks I play with come over to play, so my map is mostly for illustrative purposes on the big TV.
Zee i have a question. Since the COPPA hysteria is more or less done, is there any chance you'd bring back some of the videos you took down because of it? One that comes to mind is the one going over how spell components and arcane foci work with the examples that were animated being friends and circle of death, would like to see those videos again cause some of them have helped me remember how some rules work in 5e.
I wish there were more tutorials like this for Talespire, could you maybe do one on how to quickly setup a map or the basics of playing on it? I have it since the kickstarter but never got around to learning it and when tried to create a map it took for ever to do for just one house and was not very good. Is there a place to get generic pre made maps? It seems like it would be pretty fun to run or play a game on it but from my experience it was hell to prep, like you are the DM, already having to prep everything, spending 2h creating a map on top of that seems unreasonable for every session of combate.
For the love of of all the gods please make more tip videos about talespire. I can never find any good stuff like this, i have more than a thousand hours making maps and i never knew about the shift move. I need to know what other tips you have
animated or not, any zee video is a gift from the heavens
Praise be.
at this point zee's vocal inflections are so linked to the animations that they hijack my brain and force me to see animations anyways
GOD this program is cool, and this is a super digestible introduction.

Easily one of the most enjoyable tutorials I've ever watched!
Thanks! I tried to channel Ian Hubert hahaha
