i always try to avoid AGT and similar shows because they mostly are scripted, tell variants of real stories to make them more appealing, only have shortened versions of the original songs and then even edit them further down, and also lie about what really happens. people who were there when the show was recorded told that he was NOT the first performance and that "we couldn't give the first singer the golden buzzer" was a lie. instead simon had already given the buzzer to his favorites (the real first performance of the show), and they only had changed the order of songs for the broadcast. Similarly in the semifinals they wished him luck for the finals and made it appear as if it was live, while in reality semifinals and finals were recorded (and edited!) half a year earlier. they even had copied a scene from the finals and pasted it into the semifinals (just check it yourself: watch their clothing and Heidi's naked vs green sleeved arm). i have no idea whether and what they wanted to cover up by doing that. simon also said that he was surprised by Marcelito's bad choice of a song for the finals, while the producers give a list to choose from to the singers, and simon himself is an executive producer of the show (thus i also can't believe his surprise when he heard him "for the first time"???) in this episode. Marcelito didn't want to be bound by a contract and have to move to the usa, but at least he became a bit better known to the western public. in what world can anybody who has a personal interest in the outcome be a judge, be it at court or here in this show ? ps: also Dimash once participated in such a show, had asked and made it a condition to not compete against children, and yet was suddenly paired against children. when he therefore withdrew from the contest (while he had best chances to win a million), they cut and edited that episode to make him look bad and the Rude Paul accused him of being "ungrateful when getting such a good opportunity" to be in the show. tldr: i avoid all such manipulated and manipulating shows if a song is available anywhere else in another (and usually uncut and better) version.

Following what happened to Marcelito in this competition many Americans quit watching the misnamed America's Got Talent owned and run by an Englishman Simon Cowell. And the golden buzzer thing was a lie. Simon had taken it away from Howie and given it to the acrobatic group that he gave the title to in the end earlier in the evening. Oh and Angelina Jordan who had won the Netherlands also competed. No singer won just acrobats with a trapeze act and a balance beam gymnast beating Marcelito decided from some mysterious "super fans" no open vote by the audience there or at home. All he got was recognition around the world he wasn't paid anything just a plane ticket & hotel room.

Simon rigged the competition on AGT against Marcelito. This has been well documented and no one at the network punished Simon nor the other judges.
