Jaune and Neo are so different with almost every aspect of their characters and yet have some shared experiences, they make great foils to each other . Jaune is a tall and well built young man with blond hair and blue eyes / Neo is a very short and thin more mature (a little bit) woman with heterochromia and dyed hair. Jaune wears very casual cloth and act with clumsiness / Neo's cloth and manners are very elaborated. Jaune is easily talkative (maybe to much) / Neo is mute. Jaune comes from a huge familly (10 people in the house) from middle class (Jaune doesn't seem rich, but his parents could afford journey far from home) with a fighting background / Neo is a unique child from a wealthy familly with a buisiness background. Jaune's weapons are a iconic combinaison (sword and shield) and he relies on defensive combat stances (he's a paladin) / Neo uses a customed fashion accessory and relies on very acrobatic moves (she's a rogue/assassin). Yet, the two tend to rely on counter attacks, when they attack first they tend to be not very efficient (Jaune vs Cinder at Haven, Neo being trapped to her fall by Ruby). Jaune's semblance amplifies what already exists and he uses it to help people / Neo's semblance creates from nowhere and she uses it to lure people. Yet Jaune and Neo have lost a loved one in the battle of Beacon and have reacted in a self-hurting way to their grief, Jaune adopted death seeker tendancies and Neo clearly neglected herself (her outfit was torn and worn out when she met Cinder, making clear she didn't care about anything else but her revenge). The difference is Jaune found support on his team and Neo followed the worst character she could... So this kind of very contrasting character tend to lead to interesting interaction in fiction, so the Mad Hater and the Mars' hare ? Maybe in a sens, but I doubt this would be as much litteral as this.
Ruby: *Falls into a different world and accidentally becomes a tyrannical queen* Also Ruby: Huh, neat. One point of potential conflict for Weiss and Ruby is their thoughts on what Jaune had to do. Ruby spent so much of Volume 8 doing everything she could to save Penny, so she would feel pretty strongly about Jaune killing her. Weiss on the other hand was actually there and saw how desperate the situation was, thus she would probably be more understanding.
Oh that's an excellent point! I have plans for a video on Penny's death and Ruby's reaction to it but I hadn't considered the idea that it could lead to conflict with Weiss as well as Jaune. Would it be alright if I included that connection in the video when I get around to making it?
I think Jaune is the White Rabbit, and I have several reasons. 1. Pumpkin Pete. For 6 volumes he wore a Black hoody with an outlined in white rabbit on the front. We just didn't know this until v4. 2. The rabbit is known for being late. In v1 he and Ruby are late to orientation and he is also late to class (just like team rwby) after they get their dorms. 3. Jaunes aura/color. His aura is iffy, sometimes it's yellow, but sometimes it's white. And his armor is white. It's one of the most dominant colors on him. White rabbit. 4. In the original story Alice falls after the white rabbit, following him into Wonderland. This could be a reverse to that. Jaune falls last. I like him being the white rabbit compared to the hare for one main reason. I don't like the idea of jaune helping Neo. I don't like it for his development, why would he play a secondary character to Neo? And I don't like it for her development. The White rabbit and the hare are both secondary characters. But the hare is focused on being apart of the mad hatter group. While the white rabbit is mainly seen alone with Alice. Jaunes role in the show is far too important to make him a secondary character to Neo, but being secondary to Yang or team rwby is a different story. I also hate the idea of Neo being helped by jaune. And this is bc this is Rwby. A story about strong women. I don't want Neo to be the crazy girl that is shown to the right path by the nice young man. Thats boring and overdone. I want Neo to find her way either alone or with the help from someone on team rwby. To be clear, this isn't anti shipping or anything. If they make it out and him and Neo get together or whatever or become best friends or family. Great. I am just saying I want his role in Wonderland to focus on him or helping team rwby. And I want her role to not be focused on a man, which is what it has been for 8 seasons. Give her development outside Roman, outside another man. So that's my 2 cents no one asked for. Why I thought he is the white rabbit. And why I like that better than the hare.
I kinda see Jaune and Neo being together kinda like her previous partnership with Roman. Also,It would be cool if we got Evil Mirror Version of Team RWBY.
Maybe Cinder is the real Red Queen, since she actually killed Roman and she is pretty bloodthirsty? Then Weiss has a real conflict as the White Queen with Cinder, because Cinder hates her guts and has repeatedly tried to kill her.

Actually, the one who said "Off with their heads!" and has a heart shaped symbol is Nora (V2E1 at the beginning of the food fight), that makes her the Queen of Heart (Ren's at least).

Hey Phoenix. I really like what you've done here. I think your research is very good, and I want to take it one step further. What if, when some one "falls through the world", they take on different characteristics than they normally would. Or, to say another way, they fundamentally become their own opposites in this "new world". Something about the "Wonderland" turns them into the opposite of their previous character. And THIS could be the recipe for them to "become" these other inspirations you've listed them as. For instance, the usually confident and powerful Yang could become the lost and confused Alice not sure of herself in her new surroundings. She could easily be the one needing protection rather than dishing it out. Ruby, who is normally the group cheerleader and all for harmonious teamwork could become the type to try to take over the group and make dictatorial decisions for them. Much like the Red Queen. And I believe she could quote Nora when she yells "Off with their heads!" Jaune, for all his foolishness and ineptitude in the first few volumes HAS become a reliable and accountable leader. What better way for Wonderland to flip his character upside down then to make him the irresponsible, spastic, and lunatic March Hare. We are ALL familiar with the character arc of "Nice Weiss". She's had arguably the most satisfying arc in terms of characterization, IMO. Would it be a stretch for her to revert back to her older ways of selfishness and callousness for her fellow teammates kind of like how the White Queen cares more about her country than the rest of her subordinates. That one is a stretch, admittedly. Blake becoming The Cheshire Cat is an easy one. She's recently overcome her past by murdering her ex boyfriend and gaining that confidence she lost along the way. Not to mention, she's no longer running away from her problems. What better character to shrink into the shadows with a questionable grim than The Cheshire Cat. Hiding in the shadows rather than facing the problems of this new world. Neo is the hardest one. I've gone with YOUR character inspirations this whole time, so that would make Neo the Mad Hatter. So for this one, the only thing I can figure is that The Mad Hatter is also crazy like her, but at least he can talk. maybe we will finally get that Neo VA we've been waiting for. Having read Roman Holiday though, I doubt it will happen. We may need to find a different inspiration for Neo. Hope this sparks some ideas in you. Love your videos. Later!
Maybe Jaune and Neo can find a connection since they both lost their most important person (Roman and Phyrra). It will be very interesting who finds who first. Also, I'm curious if they include the falling civilians or elegantly ignoring them. Do they include Penny's body? If yes, who will find it? I really hope we will see Vacuo also, hopefully jumping back and forth between Wonderland and Vacuo. Also Qrow, Robin, and the Ace Ops. I hope Ironwood didn't survive.
Honestly, this is a great theory! I always saw Trivia as being Alice and then Neo becoming the Cheshires Cat. Because it kinda felt like Neo was guiding Trivia through madness. But I also haven't read all of Roman Holiday yet so I might be wrong, to be honest. I also think Ruby will take the role of being Alice as well, while Neo guides her through madness; and I think Yang will just be Alice's sister. I could be wrong again, but Cinder just seemed like the Queen of Hearts/the Red Queen to me; considering she had such an important role with Neo. Even though she didn't fall into the other world. I also thought that Torchwick could've been the Mad Hatter, but Neo also suits that role; maybe they both could be the Mad Hatter? Blake being the Cheshires Cat could work too, I'm all for that, to be honest. Or maybe the Caterpillar? Get it? Cat-erpillar? Aha I'm funny. Jaune fits the White Rabbit/or the March Rabbit pretty well, I can see him being that with his Pumpkin Pete's hoodie and all lmao. He could prove to be both as well. Weiss being the White Queen is a perfect fit. I have no idea who the King of Hearts is gonna be, maybe Watts was? I feel like a lot of these characters have more hidden allusions outside of Alice in Wonderland too. Like Jaune might get an axe and be the Woodsman, and Cinder could end being the Big Bad Wolf. (If she becomes Grimmified.) This could correlate to the whole destiny theme they are going for. Volume 9 looks really promising, and I can't wait to see where they go with it!
I think the most likely thing to happen is that we get introduced to a new temporary set of characters that already exist in wonderland. I don't think that any of the characters other than Yang have strong enough allusions to Wonderland characters for them to be used as the main instances of them. I think this season will be much slower in terms of action. I think a lot of it will center on three key things: 1. Penny's death, 2. Continuing the rebuild of the bonds of team RWBY as they keep hitting it with a hammer, and 3. the Neo question. Outside of Neo I don't see a lot of potential in those sources for fights, which I'm actually excited for. The team at CRWBY have been doing a lot of work to make the characters more expressive and I'd love to see them reap the rewards of all that hard work by making that front and center.
Don't forget about the giant tree. I bet they'll be some Norse references used in the coming volume. Also, I've commented on this before and I know its gonna be pretty emotional, but Penny's body is discovered I got a feeling she'll be buried in this new world in a similar style to Dobby from Harry Potter.
I agree with the time distortion idea since it would give team ruby the time to find each other and use it as a means of enhancing their skill and power so they could have a better chance at fighting off cinder compared to last time
Ohhh Ruby will have to do things without her team. It will be a good spot for growth because she doesn't fight as good by herself as the others in team rwby
Yes, and Yes, and YES!!!!! (A Neo Redemption storyline is virtually guaranteed by this point with how everything has progressed so far. #CRWBY did a wonderful job of setting the stage and building up to that moment, and I'm almost certain Jaune is going to be the catalyst for her redemption arc.)
I have a feeling the 3 major characters referencing characters from Alice in Wonderland that you mentioned: Adam Taurus/Mad Hatter, Pyrrha Nikos/Red Queen, Summer Rose/White Queen.
I'll leave the allusions to you in this regard, but have some other notes related to how things are likely to progress. This is specifically in regards to any interactions between Jaune and Neo based on how calm, collected, and level-headed he has been, on top of his wealth of experience in dealing with women (due to having seven older sisters). As an author myself, if I were to arrange their first one-on-one meeting in this new world, I'd likely take this approach and have it be while Jaune is going through his training regimen with Pyrrha's video recording, and Neo spying on him from somewhere nearby, and if she can catch a glimpse of the video, she may even approach Jaune disguised as Pyrrha. I've no doubt that he'd see through that disguise in a heartbeat, but at the same time, after everything they've been through, he might still rush over to Pyrrha (Neo) and hug her while just letting all of those feeling out as he tells her everything he wishes he could have had the chance to say. The startled Pyrrha (Neo) may just hug back on reflex, and it would be Jaune's words that hit home for her after that as he admits to knowing she isn't Pyrrha (He knows her name, and her ability to appear as other people), he would still genuinely thank her for helping him find that closure, and for giving him the chance to say goodbye properly. Neo would then drop her disguise as she meets Jaune's gaze, tears in her eyes as well as she realizes someone else here does understand the pain she felt when Roman was killed, even if it wasn't for him, the pain was all too real for the both of them, while the now more mature, calm, and collected Jaune, doesn't go reaching for his weapon when he sees Neo. Instead, he meets her gaze and says one of his trademark lines. "I meant what I said." Their 'conversation' would quickly shift to why Neo isn't talking as well, and that would end up with Jaune handing her his scroll so she could use it to communicate with him. From there, the discussion would likely turn to why Neo is trying to attack Ruby, and why she feels the way she does, as well as her questioning why Jaune is being so nice to her after everything. Needless to say; the two would slowly become friends, and Jaune would help Neo through her grief over Roman's death, while promising her that he will question Ruby about what happened to Roman, since she was there. In doing so, Neo would learn the truth (that Ruby wasn't responsible for his death). It wouldn't happen immediately, but Neo would eventually come to trust the others as well, and they would come to trust her, as all of them are after the same thing right now. A way home. ----------- Whether things actually happen even remotely close to what my intentions are here, nor is it really that important. I'm not guessing what will happen, simply presenting for all of you how I would approach writing the story developments that were mentioned between Jaune and Neo in this video. It's plausible, but not guaranteed to happen. EDIT: Updated / Corrected a previous mistake regarding what Jaune knows of Neo. He does know her name, and is familiar with her abilities [as was shown in the fight over the lamp, when she was identified by name, and Jaune indicated they hadn't heard good things about her]. After re-watching that fight sequence, I'm confident that him knowing who she is won't change how he reacts in the presented scenario though, as even during the fight over the Lamp, Jaune NEVER attacked, or even attempted to attack, Neo. All he did was defend himself, and the others with his shield.
That sounds like a nice way to bring them together. Here’s how I think it might go down Jaune is walking around Wonderland trying to find the others, eventually he sees someone lying on the grounds and runs up to them. When he sees that it’s Neo he gets scared steps back a few feet. When Neo didn’t immediately get up and attack him he decided to get a closer look and realizes she got badly injured from the fall and was unconscious. Jaune thinks about getting away from her but realizes he can’t leave her like that. He goes to pick Neo up and brings her to a safer part of island and then uses his semblance to heal her injuries. After a while Neo finally wakes up, sees Jaune and charges at him but she is too week to fight. When she finally calms down Jaune tells what happened and tries to ask her questions but then realizes she can’t talk. Neo pulls out her scroll and types out things she wants to say and the two start having a conversation. After that they start becoming friends
@@cyanquill40 Ultimately that's up to #CRWBY to decide on. There are a number of different ways that a friendship can plausibly develop between Neo and the others, but the majority of them would work best through Jaune.

I could see Jaune becoming Neo’s new Roman torchwick and being a fusion of the White queen/March hare because Weiss being the white queen doesn’t feel right she’s more like the white rabbit
If the two ever kiss what could happen if Ruby or Weiss witness it? I think the first person Jaune would see is Weiss she will comfort him about penny and jaune would be worried about how ruby will react while ruby is looking for her friends and she finds penny.
Jaune and Neo... There is a LOT of potential there, and honestly, I'm fairly certain they will become close friends during this volume. I'm just not sure how #CRWBY will approach that, and I'm looking forward to seeing just what will happen.
Hmm then again... Weiss did do that detailed time dilation glyph which is kinda like the white rabbit's pocketwatch. And SHE was the one who pointed out they were running late for their first class at school!
I’m still with the idea about the world tree and the whole 9 otherworldly realm stuff. Mainly cause if there’s a world where they could contact the dead then that would be a good opportunity to for some to work things out with those that they have lost. Like for Neo with Roman, Jaun and Ruby with Phyrra and Penny, Blake and Yang with Adam, and Weiss with either her dad or grandfather or both. And this would also help officially confirm as to wether or not Summer is either alive or dead.
If we're looking at this as an analogy to Yggrasil, the world tree of Norse Myth, and there are "nine realms" connected to it, then the characters finding Hel (realm of the dead) would be interesting. Especially if they were to come across past dead characters like Nicholas Schnee, Adam Taurus, Pyrra, or any other characters. I personally would love to see them finding the Elysian Fields of that realm -- the place where good warriors and others who aren't damned get to spend the rest of their existence in. Would be a good place to meet Pyrra, for certain.

Alice: Madness Returns is my second favorite version of Alice in Wonderland, with the original animated movie being my favorite. If they follow Madness Returns in plot in any way, it’s gonna be hella dark.
With that vol9 is going to be my fav vol, like my fav series combines with my fav movies plus with my fav characters being on focus and maybe inspired by them it just has to be amazing
With regards to the Cheshire Cat he mainly acts as a guide for Alice in her journey through Wonderland and is sometimes cryptic/poetic in how he gives his answer depending on which version/adaptation of the story we’re talking about and if Blake is supposed to allude to him she will probably help guide Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Juane, and Neo together and reunite them.
Please tell me your thoughts! What if instead of Wonderland it’s actually Neverland. Time is different here and no one ages~ The 6 who fell are now the 6 Lost Boys OR …. it’s darker than that. Neo is Tinker Bell (neither talk), Peter Pan is Jaune (Neo and Jaune get along here because they have something in common losing a loved one), Ruby is Captain Hook (finds out what Jaune did to Penny and instead of being understanding she’s out to get him and also he’s red) OR Captain Hook is Yang both missing right arm/hand, Weiss is Wendy, Blake and Yang are Michael and John. Alyx could be Nana the dog trying to help and bring them home? And if they are the Lost Boys… they “fell” out of their prams and that is how they ended up in Neverland.
I was thinking vision quest where they encounter dead people that were close to them in their lives for a moment of clarity. Ruby & Yang get Summer, Jaune gets Pyrrah, Neo get's Roman.
I'll never agree or like anything when it comes to shipping, nothing but trouble and arguments waiting to happen. I will admit I admire your creativity for such theories. Not to mention your optimism that the CRWBY could ever be this creative. Still believe you should do more of Fanfic with this
Character comparisons: Ruby and Weiss being the red and white queens respectively could fit quite well, same goes for Neo being the Mad hatter, as well as Blake being the cheshire cat. Both Blake and Cheshire cat both have the "disappearing act" motif going for them which could tie into Blake's semblance/character arc . As for Yang her name " Yang Xiao Long" means "small dragon of the sunshine" and the most well known dragon in Wonderland/Looking Glass is the jabberwocky. We could see that after landing in this new world Yang unlocks a certain power inherited from Raven, transforming into a dragon. As for Jaune being the March hare he has been through a lot(ending Penny's life in volume 8) and we could see him being a bit unstable in volume 9.
I actually have a whole RWBY Team based off Alice in Wonderland, I made with a friend. They are called Team ALCE, they are based off of Alice, The Cheshire Cat, The White Rabbit, and The Mad Hatter!
I can see the other world kinda like avalon and Jaune would be rewarded with a magic blade to replace the broken one on his sword after finishing a dangerous quest.
Hadn't thought of that. I've been theorizing Jaune's sword broke so that by the end of the season he'd wield the Relic of Destruction, which I assume will be removed from the vault in Shade.

Then, running with the theory that the vaults are portals to other 'realms', this 'Wonderland' could be the realm connected to the Shade vault (and so in their explorations of 'Wonderland' Jaune finds the sword before the Maiden opens the vault.) I'm very much convinced Jaune is a descendent of the King of Vale and so is destined to wield the Destruction relic.

I think Weiss and neo will have a talk and maybe they might see eye to eye on something hopefully we get to see neo talk eventually or not she is still best girl between her emerald and I don't know if I am going to watch volume 9 but that could change who knows

I ship White Rose hard, even tho I don't think it'll actually happen. They're also coincidentally my two favorite characters, and I dig the symmetry, so I don't know who I want Weiss to be. Uggghh.. But yah, I like these.
Look, I'm all for Jaune helping Neo move on, I think that would be a cool friendship... but that's all, a friendship. Yes, they've both lost the person closest to them, and yes, Cinder can be blamed for both of those losses, but Neo still isn't a good person. She takes too much joy in causing pain to others. Jaune is too pure and too good to be with someone like Neo. If Neo has a redemption arc, I don't think it will be a full redemption. I'm thinking antihero, at best. I think these are all very interesting possible allusions and I will be looking out for them in volume 9!
I'm sorry but I can't agree with you on this topic entirely. I am on the fence with NeoxJaune friemdship/more. But I don't like Jaune personally. Yeah he's a good guy but he just isn't really a good character for the show as it is meant to be a darker show. Neo is one of my personal favorites because she is the unique character and has the goal of revenge and I'm one who is pro-revenge, if it is needed, and in Neo's case it truly is. Just my thoughts though so if you want to discuss with me further on the subject I'm open for varying opinions, but I do see where you are coming from.
@@cyanquill40 Interesting opinion. I personally don't think revenge is ever a good idea because it just starts a cycle of violence. One person retaliates then the next person does and it doesn't stop. Jaune is my favorite character in the show. He's had his dark moments, fighting Cinder at the end of volume 5, his journey battling basically depression after losing Pyrrha. What I love the most about Jaune is that he's been able to move past that and find his light again. He's the one that keeps them going when all seems lost. Honestly, I'm one the fence myself about a Neo/Jaune friendship. I think they're way too different. But if there's anyone who understands losing the person who meant everything to you and how to move on from it, it's Jaune. I'm interested to see how the dynamic between the 2 of these characters goes in volume 9.
Honestly I just finished rewatching V5. You're right I did forget about his dark moments then but we don't see a lot of Jaune's struggle. I personally know what its like to have depression and we just need to see a little more of it from Jaune. Also I think Raven may come back, considering that RWBY, Jaune, and Neo went through one or something like one. I think it would be an interesting turn of events. What do you think?
@@cyanquill40 I can see what you mean about wanting to see more of Jaune struggle. I think his struggle manifests, at least a little bit, in the way he worries about Ruby, Ren, and Nora in volume 4. I've been thinking Raven was going to come back the moment we saw Tai again in episode 5 of volume 8. This will take a while to explain, so bear with me. Remember the post credits scene of volume 5? Raven portals back to Tai's house. Her aura broke in her fight with Cinder, meaning no semblance for about 24 hours while her aura restores. She still chose to go back to Tai after that time. I'm not saying she's trying to get back with him, she may just want to patch things up for Yang. She wouldn't deliberately choose to go to him unless she wanted to, in my opinion. With a somewhat better relationship between the 2 of them, Tai might ask her to help him get to Yang. Also, if she doesn't help willingly, he might try and drag her into helping him. I was honestly surprised we didn't see Tai and Raven more in volume 8. When we saw Tai again, I thought he was going to do whatever it took to get to his daughters ASAP. That can still happen, I just thought it would happen sooner.

Ruby and Weiss could be the red and white queens, Yang can be Alice and that makes Blake the Cheshire Cat and also Alice's cat Dinah. Neo is the hatter or the mirror, who also reflects all of them back at themselves and whose reflections shatter like glass. Jaune.... Has a rabbit hoodie so maybe he's the white rabbit or March Hare.
Wonderland seems painfully obvious, there is however the alternative that they fell out of the sky into the Land of Oz... Ambrosius did build a yellow road, and warn them not to stray, just like the Good Witch warned Dorthey not to stray from the Yellow Brick Road. They are trying to defeat a wicked witch after all.
Jaune is also likely to be cut off from RWBY. Witg everything that happened the knowledge that Jaune killed Penny even though she begged it to happen that Jaune didn't heal her and instead granted her death wish might be too much for them and cause them to force him out alone. Where upon he meets with Neo from there it's a mystery
i think jaune would be the white knight’ Not only bc he use to have a crush on weiss (the white queen) but considering the fact that jeaune arc is a knight as well . He holds a shield and a sword as well… So i believe he would be the white knight. and the main villain being the jabberwockey

I have always thought that Neo is a direct paralell to Alyx, the girl who felt through the world. So, spoilers for Roman Holiday. Neo (Trivia) has been locked down in her house almost her entire life, then she scapes from her house and the boarding school, falling through the world, trully discovering it for the first time, and also could reference to Neo falling to this other realm. Now I am going to quote some things that Ozpin (and also Oscar) said about this fairytale. "A young girl flees the consequences of a choice" Neo has done some bad stuff, she has maked mistakes over and over again, but she has never acknowledged that or do something about it, not even when she was Trivia, whenever Trivia did something wrong, his parents payed for the people to make blind eyes. The "worst" consequence was that she was sent to a boarding school, who encouraged to break rules in a way that you don't face any consequence, and that school was the best thing that ever happened to Neo (Trivia) before Roman. The truth is, Neo has never faced real consequences, she only runs away. "But having never learned from her initial failure, she only succeeds in spreading it" Neo has never learned anything about the bad things she does, her mantra is "Do bad stuff and don't get caught". But now, her bad stuff has influenced many lives, her teammating with Cinder not only lead to her falling, but in a way, she is also responsible for JRWBY fallling, she has spread her failures. "She brushed off her bumps and bruises, but nothing hurt worse than the loneliness in her chest" Neo (Trivia) has been alone her entire life, she is one of the most if not the lonelinest character in the show, the one time she didn't feel alone was when she was with Roman, but now he is gone. She can hurt herself many times in many ways, and she doesn't care at all, because nothing hurts more then her lonely. "When she made back home, she wasn't the same girl anymore" Could reference to Neo having a change of heart during this adventure. Plus, we had a direct reference to this fairytale in Roman Holiday, and I don't think that is a coincidence. Posdata: One of things I want to see the most in this volume is a Neo and Jaune friendship ❤
Yo..."Roman Holiday" spoilers here, but... - - - - - It's revealed that Neo's semblance doesn't simply create a visual that shatters when struck, but that it's actually physical, tangible, and able to interact with the world. Maybe it's a stretch, but perhaps Neo could use her semblance to create a portal like the ones Ambrosius made. But if it's possible, doing so would require a huge amount of aura. Hm...is there somebody stuck in Wonderland that might be able to help with that? ;)
Yup, it was already confirmed before Roman Holiday that Neo's semblance created real, physical illusions but they all will shatter if struck with enough force. These illusions are able to move as we saw a few times already, even when Neo reappeared in Volume 6 and fought Cinder. The Neo that jumped out the window was an illusion and shattered when it hit the ground. As for Neo creating a portal, unfortunately that will be impossible. As Ambrosius said when he was asked to create those portals, he needed to know how to manipulate space to be able to create the portals and luckily for Team RWBY, Ambrosius could use the Vaults themselves as a reference. Neo however has no ability to manipulate space so although she could possible create the framework for the portal, the actual functionality of it would have to come from elsewhere.
I really like this theory ! I could see all of them being all the characters from Alice, they have physical similarities but it also is really close from the behavior they could have after what happened during V8. I can't wait to see in V9 if it's like you described it !
I think we are over looking that the civilians that got blasted off the path are nearly forgotten....they may not be important yes....but what if the main see or witness what happens to people before them if any of them are alive......also the wonderland theory is not bad but there can be other fantasy parts....red queen, temper of death but the red king the more level headed is being missed out if we put the colours aside cause like you said.....certain personalities don't match few characters like Blake with Cheshire......again remains to be seen
I am curious if Penny's body fell into Wonderland as well, as the yellow brick road dimension was dissappearing. It's goind to be such a tearjerking moment when someone of team RWBY finds Penny's body, if Ruby would indeed find her this could be the turning point of Ruby going for the mentallity of *"Off with their heads".* So it's a stretch, but it could fit. Where Weiss being the white queen could understand the situation more, as Weiss was trying to fend of Cinder while Jaune would heal Penny, but Penny knew she would hold everyone back because she didn't had the weapons or firepower anymore to help everyone and wanted to send the maidenpower to Winter. So when Jaune finally catch up to Ruby they would talk it out on what happend after the rest had already fallen off the yellow brick road.
What if it's the other way around. John just killed penny what if John becomes the mad hatter or John could be Alice and neo the red queen because she can turn into ruby but from the book her semblance might evolve and she could make more physical clones so an evil Ruby. Will they end up in mantel because of the Alice in wonderland themes there.
Alyx is someone who lived before the Great War happened so The Color Naming Rule wouldn't apply since it was only put in place for characters born after the Great War
I don't think that any of the characters we know will be associated with charters from the Alice stories. I think it is more likely that they will encounter characters like that in this land.
With Sora now in Smash bros is pretty awesome, maybe in future if RWBY did got in Smash bros we get a crossover with Kingdom Hearts. I can see how they meet with them in that wonderland Phoenix told us. they enter another hole from the Disney wonderland and one's they meet up Ruby ends up becoming a heartless over finding out Jaune killed penny, Sora saves ruby and he pass down his Keyblade to Jaune to replace his broken sword.
Ruby being the red queen would work well with the overall chess motif of the Oz-Salem conflict. Ruby is Oz's red (white) queen while Cinder is Salem's black queen.
I agree a little bit with the wonderland theory but perhaps I’m wrong have thought it would be other characters to play the wonderland ones. Sort of a “have to deal with your past traumas and mistakes” sort of thing. Could see something like Roman being the mad hatter, and possibly Summer filling in the white queen. Now don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying it will actually be those characters just the image that is shown to our 6.
Things are bound to be pretty hype for Volume 9 with the new world (Wonderland) But if CRWBY could NOT make V9 all about RWBY+JN. I want at least some episodes and moments from the team in Vacuo and traveling to Vacuo. And still hoping for Summer Rose to appear soon.
Ruby and Weiss could have a conflict over Penny's death, maybe? Yeah, Jaune assisted Penny, but Ruby might get angry saying Weiss didn't do enough to prevent it 🤔

If were talking character comparisons then wouldn't Ciel(Penny's former partner) being the white rabbit work better in this case, remember it wasn't just Team RWBY, Jaune, and Neo who fell, there were quite a few people who fell and probably some we didn't see. So we could see others from Atlas pop up in Volume 9 like say Maria and Pietro.

Jaune and Neo are so different with almost every aspect of their characters and yet have some shared experiences, they make great foils to each other .
Jaune is a tall and well built young man with blond hair and blue eyes / Neo is a very short and thin more mature (a little bit) woman with heterochromia and dyed hair.
Jaune wears very casual cloth and act with clumsiness / Neo's cloth and manners are very elaborated.
Jaune is easily talkative (maybe to much) / Neo is mute.
Jaune comes from a huge familly (10 people in the house) from middle class (Jaune doesn't seem rich, but his parents could afford journey far from home) with a fighting background / Neo is a unique child from a wealthy familly with a buisiness background.
Jaune's weapons are a iconic combinaison (sword and shield) and he relies on defensive combat stances (he's a paladin) / Neo uses a customed fashion accessory and relies on very acrobatic moves (she's a rogue/assassin). Yet, the two tend to rely on counter attacks, when they attack first they tend to be not very efficient (Jaune vs Cinder at Haven, Neo being trapped to her fall by Ruby).
Jaune's semblance amplifies what already exists and he uses it to help people / Neo's semblance creates from nowhere and she uses it to lure people.
Yet Jaune and Neo have lost a loved one in the battle of Beacon and have reacted in a self-hurting way to their grief, Jaune adopted death seeker tendancies and Neo clearly neglected herself (her outfit was torn and worn out when she met Cinder, making clear she didn't care about anything else but her revenge). The difference is Jaune found support on his team and Neo followed the worst character she could...
So this kind of very contrasting character tend to lead to interesting interaction in fiction, so the Mad Hater and the Mars' hare ? Maybe in a sens, but I doubt this would be as much litteral as this.

One point of potential conflict for Weiss and Ruby is their thoughts on what Jaune had to do. Ruby spent so much of Volume 8 doing everything she could to save Penny, so she would feel pretty strongly about Jaune killing her. Weiss on the other hand was actually there and saw how desperate the situation was, thus she would probably be more understanding.
Oh that's an excellent point! I have plans for a video on Penny's death and Ruby's reaction to it but I hadn't considered the idea that it could lead to conflict with Weiss as well as Jaune. Would it be alright if I included that connection in the video when I get around to making it?

I think Jaune is the White Rabbit, and I have several reasons.
1. Pumpkin Pete. For 6 volumes he wore a Black hoody with an outlined in white rabbit on the front. We just didn't know this until v4.
2. The rabbit is known for being late. In v1 he and Ruby are late to orientation and he is also late to class (just like team rwby) after they get their dorms.
3. Jaunes aura/color. His aura is iffy, sometimes it's yellow, but sometimes it's white. And his armor is white. It's one of the most dominant colors on him. White rabbit.
4. In the original story Alice falls after the white rabbit, following him into Wonderland. This could be a reverse to that. Jaune falls last.
I like him being the white rabbit compared to the hare for one main reason. I don't like the idea of jaune helping Neo. I don't like it for his development, why would he play a secondary character to Neo? And I don't like it for her development. The White rabbit and the hare are both secondary characters. But the hare is focused on being apart of the mad hatter group. While the white rabbit is mainly seen alone with Alice. Jaunes role in the show is far too important to make him a secondary character to Neo, but being secondary to Yang or team rwby is a different story.
I also hate the idea of Neo being helped by jaune. And this is bc this is Rwby. A story about strong women. I don't want Neo to be the crazy girl that is shown to the right path by the nice young man. Thats boring and overdone. I want Neo to find her way either alone or with the help from someone on team rwby.
To be clear, this isn't anti shipping or anything. If they make it out and him and Neo get together or whatever or become best friends or family. Great. I am just saying I want his role in Wonderland to focus on him or helping team rwby. And I want her role to not be focused on a man, which is what it has been for 8 seasons. Give her development outside Roman, outside another man.
So that's my 2 cents no one asked for. Why I thought he is the white rabbit. And why I like that better than the hare.

Hey Phoenix. I really like what you've done here. I think your research is very good, and I want to take it one step further. What if, when some one "falls through the world", they take on different characteristics than they normally would. Or, to say another way, they fundamentally become their own opposites in this "new world". Something about the "Wonderland" turns them into the opposite of their previous character. And THIS could be the recipe for them to "become" these other inspirations you've listed them as.
For instance, the usually confident and powerful Yang could become the lost and confused Alice not sure of herself in her new surroundings. She could easily be the one needing protection rather than dishing it out.
Ruby, who is normally the group cheerleader and all for harmonious teamwork could become the type to try to take over the group and make dictatorial decisions for them. Much like the Red Queen. And I believe she could quote Nora when she yells "Off with their heads!"
Jaune, for all his foolishness and ineptitude in the first few volumes HAS become a reliable and accountable leader. What better way for Wonderland to flip his character upside down then to make him the irresponsible, spastic, and lunatic March Hare.
We are ALL familiar with the character arc of "Nice Weiss". She's had arguably the most satisfying arc in terms of characterization, IMO. Would it be a stretch for her to revert back to her older ways of selfishness and callousness for her fellow teammates kind of like how the White Queen cares more about her country than the rest of her subordinates. That one is a stretch, admittedly.
Blake becoming The Cheshire Cat is an easy one. She's recently overcome her past by murdering her ex boyfriend and gaining that confidence she lost along the way. Not to mention, she's no longer running away from her problems. What better character to shrink into the shadows with a questionable grim than The Cheshire Cat. Hiding in the shadows rather than facing the problems of this new world.
Neo is the hardest one. I've gone with YOUR character inspirations this whole time, so that would make Neo the Mad Hatter. So for this one, the only thing I can figure is that The Mad Hatter is also crazy like her, but at least he can talk. maybe we will finally get that Neo VA we've been waiting for. Having read Roman Holiday though, I doubt it will happen. We may need to find a different inspiration for Neo.

Maybe Jaune and Neo can find a connection since they both lost their most important person (Roman and Phyrra). It will be very interesting who finds who first. Also, I'm curious if they include the falling civilians or elegantly ignoring them. Do they include Penny's body? If yes, who will find it? I really hope we will see Vacuo also, hopefully jumping back and forth between Wonderland and Vacuo. Also Qrow, Robin, and the Ace Ops. I hope Ironwood didn't survive.
We still don't know about Maria or Pietro either!

Honestly, this is a great theory! I always saw Trivia as being Alice and then Neo becoming the Cheshires Cat. Because it kinda felt like Neo was guiding Trivia through madness. But I also haven't read all of Roman Holiday yet so I might be wrong, to be honest. I also think Ruby will take the role of being Alice as well, while Neo guides her through madness; and I think Yang will just be Alice's sister. I could be wrong again, but Cinder just seemed like the Queen of Hearts/the Red Queen to me; considering she had such an important role with Neo. Even though she didn't fall into the other world. I also thought that Torchwick could've been the Mad Hatter, but Neo also suits that role; maybe they both could be the Mad Hatter? Blake being the Cheshires Cat could work too, I'm all for that, to be honest. Or maybe the Caterpillar? Get it? Cat-erpillar? Aha I'm funny. Jaune fits the White Rabbit/or the March Rabbit pretty well, I can see him being that with his Pumpkin Pete's hoodie and all lmao. He could prove to be both as well. Weiss being the White Queen is a perfect fit. I have no idea who the King of Hearts is gonna be, maybe Watts was? I feel like a lot of these characters have more hidden allusions outside of Alice in Wonderland too. Like Jaune might get an axe and be the Woodsman, and Cinder could end being the Big Bad Wolf. (If she becomes Grimmified.) This could correlate to the whole destiny theme they are going for. Volume 9 looks really promising, and I can't wait to see where they go with it!

I think the most likely thing to happen is that we get introduced to a new temporary set of characters that already exist in wonderland. I don't think that any of the characters other than Yang have strong enough allusions to Wonderland characters for them to be used as the main instances of them. I think this season will be much slower in terms of action. I think a lot of it will center on three key things: 1. Penny's death, 2. Continuing the rebuild of the bonds of team RWBY as they keep hitting it with a hammer, and 3. the Neo question. Outside of Neo I don't see a lot of potential in those sources for fights, which I'm actually excited for. The team at CRWBY have been doing a lot of work to make the characters more expressive and I'd love to see them reap the rewards of all that hard work by making that front and center.

Don't forget about the giant tree. I bet they'll be some Norse references used in the coming volume. Also, I've commented on this before and I know its gonna be pretty emotional, but Penny's body is discovered I got a feeling she'll be buried in this new world in a similar style to Dobby from Harry Potter.
I agree with the time distortion idea since it would give team ruby the time to find each other and use it as a means of enhancing their skill and power so they could have a better chance at fighting off cinder compared to last time

(A Neo Redemption storyline is virtually guaranteed by this point with how everything has progressed so far. #CRWBY did a wonderful job of setting the stage and building up to that moment, and I'm almost certain Jaune is going to be the catalyst for her redemption arc.)
I have a feeling the 3 major characters referencing characters from Alice in Wonderland that you mentioned: Adam Taurus/Mad Hatter, Pyrrha Nikos/Red Queen, Summer Rose/White Queen.
I'll leave the allusions to you in this regard, but have some other notes related to how things are likely to progress.
This is specifically in regards to any interactions between Jaune and Neo based on how calm, collected, and level-headed he has been, on top of his wealth of experience in dealing with women (due to having seven older sisters).
As an author myself, if I were to arrange their first one-on-one meeting in this new world, I'd likely take this approach and have it be while Jaune is going through his training regimen with Pyrrha's video recording, and Neo spying on him from somewhere nearby, and if she can catch a glimpse of the video, she may even approach Jaune disguised as Pyrrha.
I've no doubt that he'd see through that disguise in a heartbeat, but at the same time, after everything they've been through, he might still rush over to Pyrrha (Neo) and hug her while just letting all of those feeling out as he tells her everything he wishes he could have had the chance to say.
The startled Pyrrha (Neo) may just hug back on reflex, and it would be Jaune's words that hit home for her after that as he admits to knowing she isn't Pyrrha (He knows her name, and her ability to appear as other people), he would still genuinely thank her for helping him find that closure, and for giving him the chance to say goodbye properly.
Neo would then drop her disguise as she meets Jaune's gaze, tears in her eyes as well as she realizes someone else here does understand the pain she felt when Roman was killed, even if it wasn't for him, the pain was all too real for the both of them, while the now more mature, calm, and collected Jaune, doesn't go reaching for his weapon when he sees Neo. Instead, he meets her gaze and says one of his trademark lines. "I meant what I said."
Their 'conversation' would quickly shift to why Neo isn't talking as well, and that would end up with Jaune handing her his scroll so she could use it to communicate with him. From there, the discussion would likely turn to why Neo is trying to attack Ruby, and why she feels the way she does, as well as her questioning why Jaune is being so nice to her after everything.
Needless to say; the two would slowly become friends, and Jaune would help Neo through her grief over Roman's death, while promising her that he will question Ruby about what happened to Roman, since she was there. In doing so, Neo would learn the truth (that Ruby wasn't responsible for his death). It wouldn't happen immediately, but Neo would eventually come to trust the others as well, and they would come to trust her, as all of them are after the same thing right now. A way home.

Whether things actually happen even remotely close to what my intentions are here, nor is it really that important. I'm not guessing what will happen, simply presenting for all of you how I would approach writing the story developments that were mentioned between Jaune and Neo in this video.
It's plausible, but not guaranteed to happen.
EDIT: Updated / Corrected a previous mistake regarding what Jaune knows of Neo. He does know her name, and is familiar with her abilities [as was shown in the fight over the lamp, when she was identified by name, and Jaune indicated they hadn't heard good things about her].
After re-watching that fight sequence, I'm confident that him knowing who she is won't change how he reacts in the presented scenario though, as even during the fight over the Lamp, Jaune NEVER attacked, or even attempted to attack, Neo. All he did was defend himself, and the others with his shield.
That sounds like a nice way to bring them together. Here’s how I think it might go down
Jaune is walking around Wonderland trying to find the others, eventually he sees someone lying on the grounds and runs up to them. When he sees that it’s Neo he gets scared steps back a few feet. When Neo didn’t immediately get up and attack him he decided to get a closer look and realizes she got badly injured from the fall and was unconscious. Jaune thinks about getting away from her but realizes he can’t leave her like that. He goes to pick Neo up and brings her to a safer part of island and then uses his semblance to heal her injuries. After a while Neo finally wakes up, sees Jaune and charges at him but she is too week to fight. When she finally calms down Jaune tells what happened and tries to ask her questions but then realizes she can’t talk. Neo pulls out her scroll and types out things she wants to say and the two start having a conversation. After that they start becoming friends
I actauly like the idea of neo and jaune becoming friends, I would like to see a friendship between a hero and villain like them

There are a number of different ways that a friendship can plausibly develop between Neo and the others, but the majority of them would work best through Jaune.

I could see Jaune becoming Neo’s new Roman torchwick and being a fusion of the White queen/March hare because Weiss being the white queen doesn’t feel right she’s more like the white rabbit
If the two ever kiss what could happen if Ruby or Weiss witness it? I think the first person Jaune would see is Weiss she will comfort him about penny and jaune would be worried about how ruby will react while ruby is looking for her friends and she finds penny.
Jaune and Neo... There is a LOT of potential there, and honestly, I'm fairly certain they will become close friends during this volume.
I'm just not sure how #CRWBY will approach that, and I'm looking forward to seeing just what will happen.

I’m still with the idea about the world tree and the whole 9 otherworldly realm stuff. Mainly cause if there’s a world where they could contact the dead then that would be a good opportunity to for some to work things out with those that they have lost. Like for Neo with Roman, Jaun and Ruby with Phyrra and Penny, Blake and Yang with Adam, and Weiss with either her dad or grandfather or both. And this would also help officially confirm as to wether or not Summer is either alive or dead.
If we're looking at this as an analogy to Yggrasil, the world tree of Norse Myth, and there are "nine realms" connected to it, then the characters finding Hel (realm of the dead) would be interesting. Especially if they were to come across past dead characters like Nicholas Schnee, Adam Taurus, Pyrra, or any other characters.
I personally would love to see them finding the Elysian Fields of that realm -- the place where good warriors and others who aren't damned get to spend the rest of their existence in. Would be a good place to meet Pyrra, for certain.

Hey! It’s me, Nickter745theBold. I used to be a part of your discord server, but then something happened and I can no longer rejoin. Regardless, I wanted you to know that I’m happy for the time I had on your server and being able to talk to you in person (via Voice Chat) about my RWBY OC characters. I’ve been working on a fan story for them in a similar way to how you’re creating your team SRPH backstories. Although I don’t have any concept art for them, I hope their story can be just as good and able to fit into the RWBY universe.

Alice: Madness Returns is my second favorite version of Alice in Wonderland, with the original animated movie being my favorite. If they follow Madness Returns in plot in any way, it’s gonna be hella dark.
With that vol9 is going to be my fav vol, like my fav series combines with my fav movies plus with my fav characters being on focus and maybe inspired by them it just has to be amazing

With regards to the Cheshire Cat he mainly acts as a guide for Alice in her journey through Wonderland and is sometimes cryptic/poetic in how he gives his answer depending on which version/adaptation of the story we’re talking about and if Blake is supposed to allude to him she will probably help guide Ruby, Weiss, Yang, Juane, and Neo together and reunite them.
Please tell me your thoughts! What if instead of Wonderland it’s actually Neverland. Time is different here and no one ages~ The 6 who fell are now the 6 Lost Boys OR …. it’s darker than that. Neo is Tinker Bell (neither talk), Peter Pan is Jaune (Neo and Jaune get along here because they have something in common losing a loved one), Ruby is Captain Hook (finds out what Jaune did to Penny and instead of being understanding she’s out to get him and also he’s red) OR Captain Hook is Yang both missing right arm/hand, Weiss is Wendy, Blake and Yang are Michael and John. Alyx could be Nana the dog trying to help and bring them home?
And if they are the Lost Boys… they “fell” out of their prams and that is how they ended up in Neverland.
Or Alyx could be Peter Pan!

I was thinking vision quest where they encounter dead people that were close to them in their lives for a moment of clarity. Ruby & Yang get Summer, Jaune gets Pyrrah, Neo get's Roman.

Character comparisons: Ruby and Weiss being the red and white queens respectively could fit quite well, same goes for Neo being the Mad hatter, as well as Blake being the cheshire cat. Both Blake and Cheshire cat both have the "disappearing act" motif going for them which could tie into Blake's semblance/character arc . As for Yang her name " Yang Xiao Long" means "small dragon of the sunshine" and the most well known dragon in Wonderland/Looking Glass is the jabberwocky. We could see that after landing in this new world Yang unlocks a certain power inherited from Raven, transforming into a dragon. As for Jaune being the March hare he has been through a lot(ending Penny's life in volume 8) and we could see him being a bit unstable in volume 9.

I actually have a whole RWBY Team based off Alice in Wonderland, I made with a friend. They are called Team ALCE, they are based off of Alice, The Cheshire Cat, The White Rabbit, and The Mad Hatter!
The best part is, the team name actually follows the Color Naming Rule

Hadn't thought of that. I've been theorizing Jaune's sword broke so that by the end of the season he'd wield the Relic of Destruction, which I assume will be removed from the vault in Shade.
Since it's Wonderland, Jaune's new sword could be the vorpal blade from thorough the looking glass.

Then, running with the theory that the vaults are portals to other 'realms', this 'Wonderland' could be the realm connected to the Shade vault (and so in their explorations of 'Wonderland' Jaune finds the sword before the Maiden opens the vault.)
I'm very much convinced Jaune is a descendent of the King of Vale and so is destined to wield the Destruction relic.

I ship White Rose hard, even tho I don't think it'll actually happen. They're also coincidentally my two favorite characters, and I dig the symmetry, so I don't know who I want Weiss to be. Uggghh.. But yah, I like these.
Look, I'm all for Jaune helping Neo move on, I think that would be a cool friendship... but that's all, a friendship. Yes, they've both lost the person closest to them, and yes, Cinder can be blamed for both of those losses, but Neo still isn't a good person. She takes too much joy in causing pain to others. Jaune is too pure and too good to be with someone like Neo. If Neo has a redemption arc, I don't think it will be a full redemption. I'm thinking antihero, at best.
I think these are all very interesting possible allusions and I will be looking out for them in volume 9!
I'm sorry but I can't agree with you on this topic entirely. I am on the fence with NeoxJaune friemdship/more. But I don't like Jaune personally. Yeah he's a good guy but he just isn't really a good character for the show as it is meant to be a darker show. Neo is one of my personal favorites because she is the unique character and has the goal of revenge and I'm one who is pro-revenge, if it is needed, and in Neo's case it truly is. Just my thoughts though so if you want to discuss with me further on the subject I'm open for varying opinions, but I do see where you are coming from.

Interesting opinion. I personally don't think revenge is ever a good idea because it just starts a cycle of violence. One person retaliates then the next person does and it doesn't stop. Jaune is my favorite character in the show. He's had his dark moments, fighting Cinder at the end of volume 5, his journey battling basically depression after losing Pyrrha. What I love the most about Jaune is that he's been able to move past that and find his light again. He's the one that keeps them going when all seems lost. Honestly, I'm one the fence myself about a Neo/Jaune friendship. I think they're way too different. But if there's anyone who understands losing the person who meant everything to you and how to move on from it, it's Jaune. I'm interested to see how the dynamic between the 2 of these characters goes in volume 9.
Honestly I just finished rewatching V5. You're right I did forget about his dark moments then but we don't see a lot of Jaune's struggle. I personally know what its like to have depression and we just need to see a little more of it from Jaune. Also I think Raven may come back, considering that RWBY, Jaune, and Neo went through one or something like one. I think it would be an interesting turn of events. What do you think?

I can see what you mean about wanting to see more of Jaune struggle. I think his struggle manifests, at least a little bit, in the way he worries about Ruby, Ren, and Nora in volume 4.
I've been thinking Raven was going to come back the moment we saw Tai again in episode 5 of volume 8. This will take a while to explain, so bear with me. Remember the post credits scene of volume 5? Raven portals back to Tai's house. Her aura broke in her fight with Cinder, meaning no semblance for about 24 hours while her aura restores. She still chose to go back to Tai after that time. I'm not saying she's trying to get back with him, she may just want to patch things up for Yang. She wouldn't deliberately choose to go to him unless she wanted to, in my opinion. With a somewhat better relationship between the 2 of them, Tai might ask her to help him get to Yang. Also, if she doesn't help willingly, he might try and drag her into helping him. I was honestly surprised we didn't see Tai and Raven more in volume 8. When we saw Tai again, I thought he was going to do whatever it took to get to his daughters ASAP. That can still happen, I just thought it would happen sooner.

Neo is the hatter or the mirror, who also reflects all of them back at themselves and whose reflections shatter like glass. Jaune.... Has a rabbit hoodie so maybe he's the white rabbit or March Hare.

Ambrosius did build a yellow road, and warn them not to stray, just like the Good Witch warned Dorthey not to stray from the Yellow Brick Road. They are trying to defeat a wicked witch after all.

Witg everything that happened the knowledge that Jaune killed Penny even though she begged it to happen that Jaune didn't heal her and instead granted her death wish might be too much for them and cause them to force him out alone.

What do you guys think? Maybe NeoxJaune as they both have lost someone. Pity Party, Reckless Abandon, etc. Just speculating an outcome. The names would fit if Jaune loses anyone else. As he probably would end up like Qrow (a depressed drunk, who rarely cares about much).

I have always thought that Neo is a direct paralell to Alyx, the girl who felt through the world.
So, spoilers for Roman Holiday.
Neo (Trivia) has been locked down in her house almost her entire life, then she scapes from her house and the boarding school, falling through the world, trully discovering it for the first time, and also could reference to Neo falling to this other realm.
Now I am going to quote some things that Ozpin (and also Oscar) said about this fairytale.
"A young girl flees the consequences of a choice"
Neo has done some bad stuff, she has maked mistakes over and over again, but she has never acknowledged that or do something about it, not even when she was Trivia, whenever Trivia did something wrong, his parents payed for the people to make blind eyes. The "worst" consequence was that she was sent to a boarding school, who encouraged to break rules in a way that you don't face any consequence, and that school was the best thing that ever happened to Neo (Trivia) before Roman.
The truth is, Neo has never faced real consequences, she only runs away.
"But having never learned from her initial failure, she only succeeds in spreading it"
Neo has never learned anything about the bad things she does, her mantra is "Do bad stuff and don't get caught".
But now, her bad stuff has influenced many lives, her teammating with Cinder not only lead to her falling, but in a way, she is also responsible for JRWBY fallling, she has spread her failures.
"She brushed off her bumps and bruises, but nothing hurt worse than the loneliness in her chest"
Neo (Trivia) has been alone her entire life, she is one of the most if not the lonelinest character in the show, the one time she didn't feel alone was when she was with Roman, but now he is gone.
She can hurt herself many times in many ways, and she doesn't care at all, because nothing hurts more then her lonely.
"When she made back home, she wasn't the same girl anymore"
Could reference to Neo having a change of heart during this adventure.
Plus, we had a direct reference to this fairytale in Roman Holiday, and I don't think that is a coincidence.

It's revealed that Neo's semblance doesn't simply create a visual that shatters when struck, but that it's actually physical, tangible, and able to interact with the world. Maybe it's a stretch, but perhaps Neo could use her semblance to create a portal like the ones Ambrosius made. But if it's possible, doing so would require a huge amount of aura. Hm...is there somebody stuck in Wonderland that might be able to help with that? ;)

Yup, it was already confirmed before Roman Holiday that Neo's semblance created real, physical illusions but they all will shatter if struck with enough force. These illusions are able to move as we saw a few times already, even when Neo reappeared in Volume 6 and fought Cinder. The Neo that jumped out the window was an illusion and shattered when it hit the ground.
As for Neo creating a portal, unfortunately that will be impossible. As Ambrosius said when he was asked to create those portals, he needed to know how to manipulate space to be able to create the portals and luckily for Team RWBY, Ambrosius could use the Vaults themselves as a reference. Neo however has no ability to manipulate space so although she could possible create the framework for the portal, the actual functionality of it would have to come from elsewhere.
I really like this theory ! I could see all of them being all the characters from Alice, they have physical similarities but it also is really close from the behavior they could have after what happened during V8. I can't wait to see in V9 if it's like you described it !

I think we are over looking that the civilians that got blasted off the path are nearly forgotten....they may not be important yes....but what if the main see or witness what happens to people before them if any of them are alive......also the wonderland theory is not bad but there can be other fantasy parts....red queen, temper of death but the red king the more level headed is being missed out if we put the colours aside cause like you said.....certain personalities don't match few characters like Blake with Cheshire......again remains to be seen
I'm just waiting for Yang and Blake to get their relationship moment. Also i am hopeful that Ruby has a huge character development in this volume.
I am curious if Penny's body fell into Wonderland as well, as the yellow brick road dimension was dissappearing. It's goind to be such a tearjerking moment when someone of team RWBY finds Penny's body, if Ruby would indeed find her this could be the turning point of Ruby going for the mentallity of *"Off with their heads".* So it's a stretch, but it could fit. Where Weiss being the white queen could understand the situation more, as Weiss was trying to fend of Cinder while Jaune would heal Penny, but Penny knew she would hold everyone back because she didn't had the weapons or firepower anymore to help everyone and wanted to send the maidenpower to Winter. So when Jaune finally catch up to Ruby they would talk it out on what happend after the rest had already fallen off the yellow brick road.
Could Alyx be a reference to Clockwork Orange? That’s the movie where Roman takes inspiration from.
What if it's the other way around. John just killed penny what if John becomes the mad hatter or John could be Alice and neo the red queen because she can turn into ruby but from the book her semblance might evolve and she could make more physical clones so an evil Ruby. Will they end up in mantel because of the Alice in wonderland themes there.

I don't think that any of the characters we know will be associated with charters from the Alice stories. I think it is more likely that they will encounter characters like that in this land.

With Sora now in Smash bros is pretty awesome, maybe in future if RWBY did got in Smash bros we get a crossover with Kingdom Hearts. I can see how they meet with them in that wonderland Phoenix told us. they enter another hole from the Disney wonderland and one's they meet up Ruby ends up becoming a heartless over finding out Jaune killed penny, Sora saves ruby and he pass down his Keyblade to Jaune to replace his broken sword.
Ruby being the red queen would work well with the overall chess motif of the Oz-Salem conflict. Ruby is Oz's red (white) queen while Cinder is Salem's black queen.
I agree a little bit with the wonderland theory but perhaps I’m wrong have thought it would be other characters to play the wonderland ones. Sort of a “have to deal with your past traumas and mistakes” sort of thing. Could see something like Roman being the mad hatter, and possibly Summer filling in the white queen. Now don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying it will actually be those characters just the image that is shown to our 6.
Things are bound to be pretty hype for Volume 9 with the new world (Wonderland) But if CRWBY could NOT make V9 all about RWBY+JN. I want at least some episodes and moments from the team in Vacuo and traveling to Vacuo. And still hoping for Summer Rose to appear soon.

If were talking character comparisons then wouldn't Ciel(Penny's former partner) being the white rabbit work better in this case, remember it wasn't just Team RWBY, Jaune, and Neo who fell, there were quite a few people who fell and probably some we didn't see. So we could see others from Atlas pop up in Volume 9 like say Maria and Pietro.
