- Okay, the thumbnail is a little over the top but when you've been metal detecting as many old houses as we do I'll tell you that gold is really REALLY hard to find. So when you see even a little piece in the hole it feels like the thumbnail looks! This week Jane FonDoug and myself detect an old 1801 house and find all sorts of treasures, relics, coins, silvers, and of course GOLD!

Quarter Hoarder Doge was the ducal title of Venice for a thousand years until 1797 (I think). The typeface alone (I’m not a printing expert) would suggest that the word is not doge and is more likely to be dope.
The printing plate says " against dope " Grats on all the cool finds, love the headless horseman.

Hey, if you ever figured out the initials on that locket you should look up the property's history. If you found one of the previous owners with those initials, you've got a time-frame to work with.

So many cool digs this week the gold piece was almost just a bonus! The horse/rider and the cool car might have been my favorites until the end.
Back in the 1920s and 30s they did land speed races on Daytona Beach. The car you found @9:32 is what they raced. Search " Daytona land speed records" . They got speeds over 200 mph. Cool find.

Boy, really great finds guys on that old property! Gold and old coins, I'd be hysterical! (don't laugh) 😁 And if you're trying to make me envious, it's working. Oh yes, I remember the tornado siren going off in a small town in up north Wisconsin to alert the volunteers. I was a volunteer firefighter for another dept, but carried a pager back then. Again, fantastic video and I'll see you next time!

The gold item is a half of a colonial era cufflink and the back was busted off where the soldering was. Nice find

Thanks Smokey! Yeah I did figured out the 1859 indian. I saw the shield on the back when I got home. Between bad eyes and the sun glare on my camera, my field IDs are only about 20% right. 🙂

You gold piece is most like the top of an old cufflink. I'd bet its either 10k or 14k once you test it. Great selection of finds this week QH!

Tracing the initials on the locket, I believe it's W S G. My guess is it held a photo at one time.

Oh Jason! At 19:41 those aren’t letters they are hallmarks/makers marks if you can get a really clear shot of then you can not only date that spoon but tell who made it and where!
some of the small spoons are also demitasse spoons ; ) AND some were also used as salt spoons..

Quarter Hoarder I do the same thing out in the field with my 56 year old eyes. I’ll be saying something like “we’ll have to take this home and clean it up and see if we can get a date” ... then I’ll review the footage to see that the date was seen perfectly clear. 😎

Ive found similar gold relics like that before. Almost certain you've got there a broken cufflink. Not solid gold, just a very think golf plating

WIG. I used to work with fonts like that and they drove me crazy. When the middle letter is larger than the other two, then that is the one that is supposed to be for the last name.
